I never said Werner wasn't good enough for this level. But regardless he has struggled. You say they haven't played to his strengths but he's taken 11 shots and scored none, so it's not all on the team or manager. A player still has to perform, and a striker still has to take his chances. And you say Rashica is good enough for this level but that's just an opinion. I'm saying we don't know that yet, and either way he wouldn't have a hope in hell of living up to the hype on here.

Rashica is the new messiah. Let Timo Werner's start to life in the Premier League be a warning, even if we signed Milot for whatever he and Werder are asking for, he might be a lot farther off the required level than we/some people think.

Sadly, neither will ours

It's only 3 games, of course, but I'd be seriously worried if I were a Citeh fan. They stuttered against Spurs and Norwich last year and never recovered the ground they lost. Can't see Liverpool dropping many points this year (including tomorrow sadly).

Classic Leeds this innit. Based on our performances against them the last few years, we could only dream of a point against City. Leeds go out and make them look distinctly average for 90 mins.

Wasn't good enough but wish him well. Think it's a strange one that he wouldn't go on loan in January (if true) but then agreed to a mutual termination. Can only assume we've paid him a handsome persuader. Assume it means we've definitely agreed to bring in another, otherwise why waste the money unnecessarily.

We were 3-0 down to Southampton at home in one of our worst collective team performances from last season. Anwar was vying with Bednarek whose arm came across him. Anwar decided to go down and pretend he'd got a clatter across the face when it was apparent to all watching that he absolutely hadn't. He then rolled himself off the pitch and continued to act the fool until getting up and wandering straight off down the tunnel. People have short memories if they've forgotten all that, but either way my opinion of him stands.

At the end of the day, whatever people think of him, he will always be the player who faked an injury when things weren't going well for us on the pitch, when we sorely needed our players to stand up and be counted. Villa fans have shown an unbelievable capacity for forgiveness in the past for a whole host of things - consistent poor performances, transfer requests, being literally spat at - but for me (and others, I'd venture), that act of hiding away and not being willing to put in the effort to help the team in such an overtly cowardly way is something I can never forgive. I don't agree with or condone direct abuse of the players over social media. But nor do I want him anywhere near our first team ever again. Doesn't deserve to wear the shirt in my opinion. Flog him ASAP to the highest bidder and give his place on the bench to someone who actually takes pride in playing for this club.

Rating him as our best player tonight - after the collective performance we just witnessed - is like trying to identify a favourite childhood trauma. And he wasn't our best player tonight, because Ramsey was.

Really disappointed in the likes of Guilbert and Davis who should be playing out of their skin in a game like that. Part of me never wants to see either of them in a Villa shirt again tbh. Don't even get me started on that charlatan El Ghazi, we'll be here all night.
