I have 0 sympathy for United but there is something very wrong with the officiating this season which goes far beyond interpretation of new rules. That is never a red, and even if it was, Lamela should walk too. If anything his elbow was worse than Martial's slap. And what is VAR for if it can't see that? Utter nonsense through and through. PGMOL are a disgrace.

They will freely admit (as they have done over the last several televised games I've watched) that they don't understand the rules anymore so can't say whether X or Y was a card/foul or not, but when it comes to a decision benefitting the Villa "the rules are very clear" and it should not have been given. It was the same shit last season (but in reverse) with the Fernandes penalty that anyone with eyes could see should never have been given. The commentators and pundits had ample sympathy for United there. "You can see why it was given". It's all media bias bullshit.
