Very depressing watching all this going on at our club. A very non-progressive manager somehow hanging on by a thread from game to game but not being held to account by the board or owners. Because it's been an echo chamber in this thread for ages. Any time I've been in here expressing my view, as I'm entitled to do (this is a message forum), I've had people getting very arsey, making personal comments etc, all with firm backing from others who feel the same and are just as vocal and free to say what they want. Which is usually just a shallow variation on "he's our best CB so wind your neck in". Little substance. If at the end of the day my opinion bothers you so much then maybe just ignore it? Or don't, but you might want to leave off asking me why I'm here. It's the same reason people are in the Gerrard thread day after day complaining about him, they love Villa and not our manager. Reflect for a moment on what you're suggesting - that a senior and highly paid Villa player would deliberately sabotage a result and throw away 3 points when we're approaching a relegation dogfight, all with his international manager watching on too. Few players earning a wage in the premier league are permanently awful. That perspective makes no sense tbh. Watkins has good games for us and once scored a hat-trick against the champions - does that make him worthy of standing by, in light of his form now? It's not just the last 2 games and to suggest that is nonsense. Tyrone has senile moments all the time which create clear goalscoring opportunities to the opposition. Even in his best season he was getting caught out of position miles up the pitch, falling to sleep in the box during set-pieces, failing to clear easy balls etc etc. It's not a vendetta, I really like him as a person and admire his character. It's simple that he is not a good enough defender for Aston Villa, that's the reality as I see it.

I don't think he even knows he has 5 subs mate. Puts the same 3 names down every week and Critchley been filling in the rest.

If you're defending him after today's performance, I don't know what to tell you. It's pure cognitive dissonance to see what we've seen the last couple of weeks and try to deny it by having a pop at posters who point it out.

They're not mutually exclusive, or a matter of "one or the other". Both Gerrard and Mings can be shit at what they do. And IMO are.
