  1. Ah, my bad, must have misread something as I thought it was tonight. Thanks for that. Without asking you to give away which 2 we'll be asked to vote on, do you know which 2 of the 3 have made the cut?
  2. Edit: redundant after OBE's post
  3. OBE, are any of the VT staff at the consultation meeting tonight? In Nuremberg there? Would be keen to hear his thoughts after.
  4. Listen, Christian Purslow is no mug.
  5. You weren't aware of the story that our club was formed (allegedly) at a meeting under a gas-lit lamp?
  6. I think they're probably trying hard not to lie. A little bit like when we removed 'Prepared' from the crest when it went beyond ironic and farcical. In keeping with this, fully expect the lion to look as follows:
  7. Nobody is coming to games or choosing to support Villa because they understand our badge. Nobody's putting money in the club coffers because they understand our badge. It's a lion and a star and AVFC in a shield at the moment. No "outsiders" have complained that they don't understand it. It's the preexisting fans of the club who don't like the badge and are driving this change - er go it needs to work for us fans. We're the ones who care. I don't have a **** clue why Everton have a round tower on their badge, but it looks fine to me. It's part of their identity for some reason, can only assume it's a local landmark, but it doesn't need to make sense to me. And it would not make me any more interested in the club to know what it means. Same goes for the Manchester devil, the Crystal Palace eagle, the Newcastle seahorse (or whatever tf it is), the Brentford bee etc. I could give two shits, just like their fans could give two shits about us, and I can guarantee you neutrals don't really care - unless you count my graphic designer friend who doesn't have a Prem club but came to Villa Park to see us beat Brighton in our first season back and now has a magnet with our current 'shoddy' crest on his fridge. In which case, if the average neutral (or even those with an eye for design) don't hate it, why are we bothering? For us fans. Obviously.
  8. Couldn't care less about outsiders. We should pick the crest that best represents our base, if others don't get it, **** em. I understand our CEO, being a super duper modern businessman who knows all the buzzwords, will feel differently, as he will just see the crest as our "brand logo". It's so much more than that, and we should definitely be thinking of it as much more than that. I wouldn't even put myself in the shoes of someone outside the club looking at it. They're not the ones who'll have to live with it and see it emblazoned everywhere, we are.
  9. True. But if it's the latter, I trust most fans not to vote for it. I'm still intrigued to see it!
  10. I'm intrigued by the gaslamp one personally. However, agree, fans should get to vote on all 3. I'd say open it up to anyone with a FanID. Most saboteurs are lazy and won't be bothered signing themselves up. Any who do won't be in large enough numbers to affect the % outcomes.
  11. Seems a very strange strategy to present 3 very different badge shapes to "elite fans" (realistically made up predominantly of bloggers / podcasters and message board admins) and then only presenting 2 of those options to the majority of fans who will also be season ticket holders, members, regular match attenders etc. I mean; once I see the final 2 options I will immediately be wondering what the 3rd looked like, especially if the final 2 are somewhat underwhelming. Been a weird process all around IMO.
  12. Had a dream Poch was our manager and won his first 4 games in charge. Woke up to find Gerrard still stinking the place up. Depressing
  13. Gerrard needing sacked doesn't now mean Smith should have been retained. That's a false equivalence if ever I've heard one.
  14. Bottom line is this: 2 wins in the last 12 league games, many of which were winnable. This isn't just relegation form, this is bottom of the table form. How the **** is he still here? Serious questions need to be asked of the owners and the CEO if this keeps up. This isn't congruent in any way with their rhetoric over the last 5 years of being in charge of this club.
  15. He's still here? NSWE are not the men I thought they were. Purslow unfortunately is exactly the man I thought he was.
  16. Recency bias will probably creep in here for a lot of folks, possibly myself included, but rn I would say Gerrard's is miles worse to watch.
  17. Another businessman turns out to be spineless and not nearly as clever as he presented as being. What a shocker.
  18. Regardless, journalists have a right to ask them. Back in the day when people had some class, "No comment" was sufficient. Now jumped-up little scummy clearings in the woods like Gerrard see it as an opportunity to do a spot of grandstanding and arrogant, passive-aggressive needling, don't they? It's weird and unprofessional for a manager representing the club to be giving answers like that.
  19. The good news is, shitty little paranoid egocentric answers like that are usually a sign that the end is near for a struggling boss. Lambert, Sherwood, Garde, Bruce can all attest to that.
  20. It's about the quality of the chances over the quantity. xG is rightly calling out Watkins for being a useless clearing in the woods here, given that he hit the post from a 5 yard volley and couldn't finish one on one either (as usual).
  21. He never looks like he gives a toss either. "Oh look, another one missed. Anyway....."
  22. Which? Stevie's application for unemployment benefit?
  23. He's quids in with him, that's why. It's a terrible appointment, jobs for mates is a shocking arrangement at a football club.
  24. Same reason I always take a piss three yards from the urinal at Wetherspoon's. I'm shitfaced
