Have you had letters to tell you are under the "threat of redundancy"? This is the first step of the process and a very important one. Just found out this is happening on Thursday and then consultation meetings on from there. Apparently there will be a compromise agreement as well. Which I've googled and it makes me very uncomfortable. Sounds like a cash bribe to not pursue an unfair dismissal claim.

Paddywhack - Yes everyone is confused now. And Tamuff, no we haven't! Meeting on Thursday so I'm sure that's when they are being given out. For this to happen beforehand, in works time and for one of the employees to be left to show the prospective buyer around the machinery - well, I'm lost for words.

None of the staff at my work have been officially been told of redundancy but 3 prospective buyers for (integral) machinery have just turned up and the staff that use them are having to show them around the machines. Disgusting conduct from my employers.

Taking the fella to a friends works Christmas party tonight, any excuse to get him in a suit really. And as it's neither of our works do we can really let our hair down with no fear of come back - wahey! Turkey was on the menu but went for Beef, it's not December yet, bit early for the dry bird if you ask me.

Just to take it into it's own thread so I'm not Off Topic in another, my office has fallen into all out war between the Sales & Operations team in regards to pranks. I came in on Wednesday to find my office had been ransacked, chairs overturned, monitors turned around, clocks changed, etc etc. So the Operations team found the Sales teams cars in the car park and did this: Then the Sales team did this to the office. And now the Sales Manager left his laptop lying around while he went to the toilet, came back and the guys had encased it in packing tape. This cannot end well... Have you guys had any good / bad pranks in your workplace?

I've no idea. I thought it was a bit sinister myself! They also took all the chairs, put them out in the warehouse in a circle, put a bin in the middle with a box on top to look like a table and put a large TV screen in there - so it looked like our meeting room but in the middle of the production area.

Put clear sellotape all over the doorway.

This is why, 75 mins a day.
