    @Vive_La_Villa is correct about Gabby especially between ‘07 and ‘09. Now back to Duran I think he needs a Teddy Sheringham style striker next to him to get the best out of him. Or a Buendia type player. I don’t think Ollie and Duran can work as a two.

    When he played on the left earlier in the season one thing he did do was solidly hold an end up on the left defensively.

    Chopping and changing the back line and midfield due to injuries will never be beneficial to the defensive record. It was a performance full of grit and determination. Barcelona under Pep used to average 70% possession and have 10-15 shots per game. Hardly passive and lazy possession. It’s called controlling the game. It’s what Don Unai wants.

    We were tired and I think it was a symptom of the first game where admittedly they should have had 3/4 in the first half. Only mistake Don Unai has made in hindsight. Next season I hope we try and blitz them first half.

    OMG someone just mentioned our injuries and who chopping and changing the defenders causes the coordination levels to drop. Who woulda thought !

    Where he would have made a difference is in his movement and pressing. He also would have made Diaby’s game better too and there’d be less pressure on him.

    lol at the reactions. When we win and have been winning our intensity etc isn’t in question then. It’s not in the DNA of the team. We’re a WIP and it’s going to take Don Unai at least another 2/3 windows to shape the squad the way he wants. The players were tired mentally. Don Unai should have rested some of them for Ajax in hindsight.

    We have to beat one of City Liverpool or Arsenal. We need 5 wins minimum. Today was a big blow psychologically though. Need a statement win against Ajax who are a CL regular up until recently.

    The McGinn red card challenge is seen up and down the country at every level and is never given as a red. The game was lost but losing him for 3 games is worse.

    Behave it was a foul and that’s it. No studs showing wasn’t off the ground it was cynical but not dangerous.
