  1. Hause is Mings direct replacement, a left footer and Konsa was awful against Leicester, so Engels (rightly) replaces him as the right footed CB.
  2. I play footy with quite a few united fans, we were chatting about the game and all of them thought he was decent at the weekend, said he dominated lindeloff and looks a decent prospect. They were really surprised when I told them he's coming in for quite a bit of criticism for playing like that at the moment.
  3. Once Bruce altered their formation, the players already on the pitch were the ones best suited to counter their approach. We saw that game out easily and should have been been 3/4 nil up by the end.
  4. I thought he was much better last night than the previous 3 matches. Needs a lot of improvement to make it in the prem though. Anyone noticed that refs hardly ever award him free kicks. He gets pushed and pulled but the majority of tussles go against him, it seems to frustrate him, needs to learn to get past that stuff and get on with the game.
  5. What? Address the balance of play? What makes you believe bringing on subs would have improved our performance any further? Subs don't always change games for the best. Anyway we were still trying to score with 1 minute left on the clock. They had a decent few minutes at the start of the 2nd half, but we were the better team for the rest of the half and should have score more. Smith set us up perfectly and we won, bearing in mind it's the first time we've beaten them at VP in 9 years.
  6. I think it's good thing in a way, he'll be more determined than ever now to get into that squad. I want him to go out and show Southgate he's a fool for not picking him, starting Sunday against Wolves.
  7. It's easy to say in hindsight that "Smith should have bought on this player instead of that player, doing so lost us the game." It's a totally irrelevant criticism, for example he could have bought Konsa on, but he then could have had 9 touches, conceding 9 own goals and we lose 9-1, but he didn't so it doesn't matter. He can only guess how a player might influence the game, they will or they won't, that's on the player not on the manager.
  8. They're completely different types of striker. Maupay was average on Saturday, he had some decent chances and fluffed them, not sure how he'd even fit into out XI. I thought Wes was okay, no worse than the majority of the other players. He was trying to get into the right places to score but it just didn't fall for him, lots of poor balls into the box. He occupied Webster and Dunk (who were both superb) enough to give our AMs the space to get into scoring positions. So far he's doing okay, once he's settled I think he'll improve.
  9. Not really they had 5 on target/8 Blocked/8 off target. 3 of those shots were free kicks. Heaton had to make 4 saves.
  10. First half he was great, blocked and headed away everything. Those series of blocks when he was on the floor and trying not to concede a handball was brilliant. Easy to get forgot those kinds of moments when he's made an error to take the gloss off a decent win. Needs to maybe stop overplaying it at times, but apart from that he's our number 1 centre back.
  11. I'm kind of glad he's not been given a call up, he hasn't quite sparked yet so far this season. He'll be determined to improve and get into the squad, which is good for us in the short term.
  12. Scored the winning peno though haha
  13. Hopefully the start of the Meng dynasty?
  14. I can't think of any other signing we've ever made that has had the kind of impact Tyrone has off the pitch (on the pitch he's not been to shabby either). His enthusiasm for the club, the fans, the team and manager seems to have bound everyone together. Have we ever had a Villa squad so intune with each other off the pitch before? Basically his signing in January was a masterstroke and reading this back I may have a man crush.
  15. We're having a home-birth, she's hoping Villa arent on the tele at the same time - something about creating a relaxing environment.
  16. When he scored, I shouted so loud, my heavily pregnant girlfriend wet herself a bit! Got a right bollocking. If she goes into labour tonight I'm calling the lad Wesley.
  17. Elmo was our best rated player on Whoscored yesterday. I know stats don't tell the whole story, but least he's doing the basics right. He's getting on now though and the pace of the Prem is catching up to him especially in the final 15mins.
