  1. If only Salah and Haaland have anywhere near comparable output to Watkins in the last 12month....just how much money would it take for us to take a bid seriously? Hojland at manure cost them over 70m and has scored the princely total of SFA in the Premier league this season so far. On that basis, I think you're shortchanged by a long way on him. However, all values need adjusting to the manure / Chelsea index. They overpay by a comically large amount, so maybe not the best way to judge. E.g Caicedo worth 100m+ more then Kamara. Or 90m more than Doug.
  2. Any conceivable competition for manager of the year if this carries on for anything like the next 22 games??
  3. Voted emry average. ...looks like im the only one. Just so frustrated that we didn't change up the positioning of Luiz and kamara throughout. Havertz and odeguard sat on them both and made it impossible to play out....just couldn't understand why Emry didn't change their starting positions to free them. Equally, no one put on zinchenko to counter in the same way they did to us. He was free all the time and kept playing balls in behind konsa and cash. But....we won....so wtf do I know. Clearly an Emery masterplan!!
  4. Just looked at the league table.........just saying.....
  5. For the first time since 93....I feel like we are actually in the title race. Pinching myself. Arsenal are vulnerable as they don't really a centre forward to punish people and take chances. Liverpool do conceded goals and their midfield algas weaknesses. Man City....injuries, points deductions and weakness if Rodri is out means they could be caught this year..... I don't think any of the others will not have blips or don't have significant weaknesses. So we're in the mix. We do also have weaknesses - if Luiz, Watkins or Martinez get injured for any period, we're not top 5. We've not been here for a loooong time, so experience will also be a flaw. Home atmosphere is poor....as a season ticket holder sitting opposite the away end each week....its poor. But we do have several massive advantages. Noone thinks we're really anygood, so we'll keep under the radar for a good while yet. EcL is a fortnightly boost to confidence, keeps the run going and keeps people like Watkins and Bailey thinking they're world beaters. Unai, clearly the best put there apart from Klopp and PG. Although, they have the most money....maybe he is the best.... and the way we're set up on thebwhole saves a huge amount of energy, look at spurs fir the last 40 mibs yesterday. We've never fallen off like that and I don't think we will. Helps to keep squad fit and selection issues to a minimum. We've now got a bench to at lest compete with all but city and pool. I'm excited......and certainly never again will be betting against us.....VTID
  6. I am you're right. Thank you. Self esteem boost. Typo checks still a work in prodress. (Ha ha)
  7. Is it me or are both of thesetwo actually a bit shi**e. I can't really see anything to fear in either. Can't believe I'm amazing this after so many years...but I think we're quite good.
  8. I want it to be dropped. Sorry, but I think its pretty small time to be celebrating / reminiscing about something that occurred two generations ago, in a competition that no longer exists and that we haven't a hope in halls chance of ever winning the current version of ever again. The current songs about Europe, mocking other clubs who have never won the thing and constant harking back to a bygone age just seems to always be pointing focus back to the past. As if we know there is no glory in the future. Look at the past winners of that comp and see where many of them are now. Do we want to be Staua Bucharest or Malmo type club in the future or do we want to move on, deal with where we are now and push forward. I don't know, I guess I'm in the minority but I'd rather be celebrating things from either further back, like being a founding member of the football league, or thinking about the current team and what they could do.
  9. So disappointed watching that. Soooo slooooow. Without mings we have so little physicality. We are limp. No pace, power, desire, effort even at times. He drives the whole team forwards. Still not seeing anything in tielemans other than a really slow, weak and disinterested version of Ashley Westwood. Longlet and Chambers are two of the weakest and slowest professionals I've ever seen. Kamara of last year yet to emerge and he looks lost without Luiz next to him at the moment. The whole team lacks cohesion as soon as Luiz is not playing. Not sure I'd be starting Watkins on sat, Jhon offers some energy and urgency that Ollie seems to be lacking at the moment. Needs some goals, so maybe keep laying him I suppose....... Embarrassed to be going to work tomorrow after that.....
  10. Thank you. Not heard much about him. Any info on where he's come from, do people rate him etcetera. Cheers. UTV.
  11. Who was playing 7?. Right wing in the first half. Looked pretty rapid and poised. Made some good decisions too.
  12. Such an underrated and important player for us. Especially with kamara out. Moves the ball, creates little angles for simple retention and line breaks. Brings the best out of others. McGinn has been a total standout in the last 4 or so games, but Dougie does all rhe quiet hard graft kr often noticed. Without him our retention and possession would mean we'd have to play a totally different way. Build a team around him, kamara, Watkins, martinet and mings. Great spine to the first 11.
  13. No. I've changed my vote. You're being very literal Limpid!!
  14. Want to change my mind after tonight. Wildly optimistic and excited. Getting my passport updated.and some euros.in the wallet. Love unai. Love this team. Love the spirit. Love Ashley Young and his shithousery. Top 4 here we come after 10 game winning spree. Coyvb!!!
  15. Maybe Bogarde youve missed, although maybe more dcm?
  16. 1) experience the fear of knowing your best players will br poached by a Manchester club for much less money that you would need to replace their impact. 2) never say things like...."he deserves a chance to win something." Or "we had good times while he was here but he was always going to go eventually." When number 1 happens. 3) loath anyone who says something like number 2, when number 1 happens. 4) fail to get a pint at half time despite leaving your seat 10mins before half time. 5) know deep in your bones that 2.0 up with 10mons to go is a fragole lead. 6) travel with optimism despite all the above Home and away because you have for the last 30 years. Its the hope that kills you. 7) travel to Wembley for intermittent, long spread out appearances knowing that man City or whatever sky6 club you happen to be playing will turn you over. Jowevrr badly they play, whilst also thinking 6. stand in awe everytime you first catch the view of the back of the hole as you walk to the ground. Everytime. Despite going for 30 years. Everytime.
  17. Starting to get nervous about his performances. He looks so out of place in our midfield, even when Luiz plays well. He's a champions league, Man City level player and he's not going to stick around too long if we're not in that conversation soon. We'll make a massive profit....but we don't need money. We need guys like this to move us on. Need to add a few more and quickly. 6/7th is there this season if we keep on this run and I think we may have to, to see BK still here in August.
  18. Well. One thing they could do is employ some staff in the ticket office or someone to redesign the functionality of the website to buy tickets. Absolute shambles. 1 hour on hold to then get timed out. Doesn't open until 10. Hour closed for lunch. Wtf are they doing?
  19. Changed my mind on looking at both options when directly compared to others. Went for the gas lamp choice. The round badge is too similar to others, but also, I feel it’s time to some extent to move on from 1981-2. Yes it was amazing we won things, won things other big clubs still haven’t, but it was 40 years ago…..I doubt you hear Preston or acrington Stanley singing about the glory days of 1892 or pining their present to the past in the way we do as a fan base. It’s time to move forward, to create the victories of the future and ‘park’ our history to a degree. The players and fans of now need the space to do this and keeping a badge style from that era in a very small way, squeezes this space just a little. IMHO
  20. I’m excited. Essentially it puts us in the top bracket of European managers currently working. Won tiles in France with two teams. Won europa league theee time plus two other finals, champions league semi finalist with a team whose ground holds less than 15k. Better win % with psg than poch and tuchal. He’s got a strong accent though, so lots of English people took the piss when he was at arsenal. Classic mindless xenophobia from British media and ‘football’ fans.
  21. Well, quite the turnaround today. Not posted in ages as felt too flat to take much interest. Danks seems to have been taking notes on the sidelines that match many of my thoughts for the past 6 months or so… 1) McGinn has to be dropped. Today shows exactly why. We stopped giving up possession so easily, giving confidence for runners to go past men, creating space for easier passes. When we lost it, we had the legs to press, without just giving up pointless fouls. He needs a break and so did everyone else. The difference was so stark in the last 30 mins when he can back on! 2) Coutinho needs to be impact sun only. Legs have gone. Not interested. Slows us down. Loses the ball to easily. No loss if we can move him on. 3) beundia needs to be trusted and start a run of 10 games in a row. He needs love and faith. That will bring him the confidence to take risks with the ball. We need his creativity, pace, pressing, fight, passion….he needs consistency of selection and to play behind ings. 4) Watkins is perfectly able to play wide, much more space for him and helps his lack of first touch. Let’s ings and archer play out for the centre birth. 5) mings and Martinez are the leadership of the team and the captaincy issue was one of Gerard’s black hole of bull sh** macho posturing, attempting to force mings into a measuring contest. Gerrard needed to back off and give the team space….not willing to be second fiddle to Ty in the dressing room was part of his downfall. 6) full backs playing as full backs. Jesus it felt good. 7) specialist defensive midfielder in specialist position….shockingly we then had a platform to build, confidence of playing the ball through the lines, taking risks- without the fear of being broken on without any cover. I don’t think any of this should have been so tricky for a professional manager to have noticed and fixed. The fact it has taken so long to get rid of him, is criminal in my opinion. Time is fine if you can see a plan, progress or reasoning. It’s insanity if you just leave it and hope it’ll all come together without any evidence to support. thank you danks. utv
  22. Not felt so flat after a win in a very long time. there is so little positive movement towards any attaching coherence that I can’t feel please, as I know it’s only a one off. the defence, when we pick mings and everyone is fit will always be tight. We sorted that two years ago. That should give us a confident platform to take risks, move the ball and be aggressive. but unfortunately the team still has yet to replace Grealish in terms of moving the ball between the lines. So few passes forward between, so few risks taken and no one can dribble with pace who has form at the moment. End result…nothing. How on earth EMI doesn’t start is. Beyond me. Luiz…same. We’d be a different side with them in and McGinn+coutinho out. Bertie back, emi in, Luiz in, play with urgency, stop the full backs doing what they can’t do, give Augustinian a chance, drop McGinn, believe in the players and let them play. None of this is hard or difficult and surely we can all see most of this is true……why can’t the man in charge??
  23. Lying on the floor and pretending to be injured to hold on against this Southampton team….that’s where we are…..
  24. Winning one off games is not everything though is it. Winning culture and style and planning = winning more than only against a crap Southampton at home. This would be 9 points out of 33 if we hold on. That’s not winning.
  25. I think the frustration is that we are so bad, and still dominating the ball against a relegation heading Southampton…..and not creating anything, or looking like a team with a plan, structure or anything like 300 odd million worth of playing talent. Winning isn’t everything when there is no sign of sustainability, progress, quality, tactics, use of players we have etc etc. win lose or draw gerrard is an absolute robber of a wage
