  1. McGinn subbed off without injury. Decent run out for him to get some fitness
  2. Can see your second team being what Southgate goes with as well, although AMN may be swapped for Walker. Although the logic you're applying to Coady would surely mean he won't be picking Dier in midfield? Against weaker opposition it should still be enough anyway. Mount just shouldn't be in the team but you know he will be.
  3. But signing too many such that we have a player sat around doing nothing when he turns from injury is worse for morale i'd argue. Either way, agree that the quality of Davis is not sufficient, and Samatta is a big question mark.
  4. We do need 2, but only until Wesley is back, unless we have written him off. A loan, alongside a signing would make a lot of sense if the right type of player was available. If not, signing two, one of whom has played as a winger most of his career is perfectly sensible
  5. I would be on board with that against the lower half of the table. We would get ripped a new one against better opposition
  6. Same here. Aside from the options for the front 3 it looks like an incredibly terrible selection of players to pick from.
  7. agree with this. I am struggling to see how we play that formation and get McGinn in the team. Unless Grealish goes out wide and McGinn plays the box to box midfielder role in the second of the two formations, it won't work. In either scenario, Luiz needs a proper DM next to him (Idrisse Gueye right about now would have done)... I'm expecting this at the moment: Wilson Grealish ??? McGinn Luiz ????
  8. 17 vs 15+5 in addons is virtually no different from an FFP perspective. Both values get spread over the length of the contract we offer, which would presumably be at least 3 years. So your looking at 5m per year vs 5.66m per year. Then with the 5m option you have an unknown additional cost that may or may not get factored in at all. I don't think for one second that that would be a sticking point in this negotiation.
  9. Is a good point. Tbh i would probably have gone for that if the BBC formation selector let me pick 4141, but hey ho. Greenwood is much more of an out and out striker to me, than a Sancho/rashford esque player. He's exceptional, but not sure he's better than any of the alternatives in the wing/AM positions. If he replaced Sancho he'd surely be in the middle, and Grealish would be on the left. Nice problem to have though for a change.
  10. Something like this for tomorrow? (I know Jack won't start... f$#king Southgate) Rice instead of Dier? Walker instead of Trent?
  11. I was thinking along similar injury worry lines...the greater amount of running he'd be doing and the more likely he is to be doing slide tackles would be a big concern. His injuries always seem to stem from a slide tackle going wrong.
  12. Belive it's the equivalent of England being called the three lions
  13. You'd imagine the only legal way out would be if there was a clause in the contract they could trigger or if the contract was found to be void for some legality. Otherwise they're paying Trabzonspor some money to get them to agree to terminate the agreement. Wherever I hear that team's name it reminds me of listening to european football on radio 5, when Villa were in it. Good times.
  14. His exact quote was that we've "secured one of England's brightest young prospects" and that he hopes he will "continue his rapid development into a top full-back." I recall reading one saying he can be a great fullback for us, but can't find the exact quote. Either way, the word "can" is pivotal in that statement. That doesn't sound to me like he's a nailed on starter, if anything it sounds more like he's a youth project, although I know that isn't the case. Like i said, I believe they'll share duties this season, until one of them makes a pretty bad mistake or a series of poor performances. Much like how Taylor and elmo started last season, I reckon Guilbert will start the first game unless he is poor in training.
  15. Unless he wants to leave because he wants guaranteed first team football, I'd definitely keep him. Doesnt strike me as someone that isn't up for a fight though, or someone that would throw his toys out the pram. Can see him and Cash sharing duties all season long. If they both have great seasons, neither of them making horrific mistakes then we'll have a headache trying to keep them both next season, but this season, being as tightly packed as the fixture list is, we need two first team players for every position ideally. We're not going to get that but sacrificing a player in the only position where we seem to genuinely have it would be madness.

    Matty Cash

Thought we already had? But give me an excuse, and I'll take it...
  17. Cash puns belong in the cash thread surely... i will resist. Praying that there is another signing imminent that had totally blindsided the media, would make me very happy as an indicator that there could be others. If its Watkins/Wilson I'd be fine with either but would point to a concerning lack of other viable rumours, given both signings would have been leaked all over the news long before they happened.

At least they didn't leave it hanging too long. Imagine the meltdown if there's a dual announcement.... fingers crossed. Welcome Matty, may you improve our leaky defence/midfield and help us going forwards.
  19. Agreed I was just saying how it would work in the off chance we got them all
  20. Watkins on the wing, Wilson first choice, Samatta backup. Wesley, when he returns, ousts samatta and maybe Wilson also. I dont see watkins as a striker if we sign him, but tbh I don't see us signing him if we get Wilson
  21. Assumes there are clubs wanting to loan the types of player we're after though. Loans aren't that common for players capable of delivering in the PL. Maybe the current market has made it more likely, but surely the loan route would be a last resort if the players we want to sign aren't gettable. International break may have put a hold on some things, we may be in the 5th round of negotiations for some players. There'll come a time when we have to bite the bullet on something, and loans may be the option when that time comes.
  22. Shame that your first like was for slating a current player but sadly its true. Davis cannot finish. He's got potential to be a good player, but if he doesn't learn to score (not even sure that can be taught), then being a worse Emile Heskey is not a great footballing cv.
