    The amount of goals we are conceding is a bit of a worry. To be fair Brentford’s 2nd and 3rd have been great strikes. I’ll be disappointed if he don’t win this game.

    What a second quarter. The goal from Konsa won’t get the praise it deserves but it’s world class. Power, speed, calmness and then the ability to finish! Absolutely brilliant!

    Yeah I assume so! Mings does play LB from time to time.

    I don’t think Olsen is as bad as some people make out. But I do think we are a significantly poorer team when he plays in goal. For me, I think Dibu should start every game he’s fit. Every league and cup game. I don’t think top level keepers need to be rested.

    I stayed up Sunday night to watch but think I’ll miss this one. Have to be up and gone at 6 in the morning. I’d like to see Diaby, Pau and Tielemans start. I always think the second half of these games is harder to make an impression with all the subs and positional changes happening. Couthino needs mins too so keen to see him start too.

    The whole Inter €15mil rumour is just hilarious really. As I have said so many times on here a players price isn’t decided by the buying club. It’s decided by the selling club. And right now Emi is worth north of 60mil for Villa. For us to even consider selling it wound need to be a massive offer. No one is going to make that offer and I would be 100% sure Dibu will be in goal for Villa at the end of this window.

    A really good half. I think Newcastle will be delighted to get in level. I think on another day we’d be 2-3 up here. Especially happy with Cash, McGinn, Dougie, Buendia and JPB! Interesting to see how many changes we make at HT! I’d like a half with Pau and Diego at CB!

    I think Kamara was lucky earlier in the half when he got caught on the ball. I think for the second goal it’s a clear foul!

    I find it hard to believe how far we have come in 4 years. That first summer window after promotion under DS was crazy. I just looked at the number again. We signed 12 players for a total of 156mil. Wes and Mings were approx. 50mil of that so the remaining players were on average 10m each. Players like Targett, Marv, ElGhazi, Trez. Then having to go and buy Ally Samata in Jan after Mee ended Wes’ career. No offence to them, they kept us in the league. We’re now in a different world, dropping big sums on top international players and also picking up a player like Tielemans on a free.

    I know it’s easy to say from my position but it would be a stunning lack of self confidence to head off to Saudi at his age and level of ability. He could make the move to SA at 30 when he’s really tested himself at the top level and still make the money! I say that as someone who did go to the Middle East and more than trebled my salary at the time ( admittedly from a low base).

    I assume this is going to be a two team game. We are obviously going to be without the injured players and those who played internationals over the summer. Hopefully we will see a few of the kids get some game time. JPB, Tim, Kellyman, Ramsey Jr, Azaz, etc.

    I think after looking at Diaby videos the player I’d like most is Frimpong! He either scores or assists every goal Diaby is involved in. Maybe we could do a double deal?
