  1. He probably feels he's kept his promise and won't spend big again until we go up. I have no doubt this club is a much bigger salvage job than he thought when he bought it.
  2. Just out of interest....Here is a list of what happened the following season to the worst points scoring relegated Premier League Clubs since 2000.. ( apart from us ) QPR 25 pts - 2012-13 .... 31 players out / 19 players in : 2013-14 4th on 80 Pts Portsmouth 19 pts - 2009-10 .... 29 players out / 13 players in. : 2011-12 16th on 58 Pts Derby 11 pts - 2007-8 ..... 36 players out / 23 players in : 2008-9 18th on 54 Pts Sunderland 15 pts - 2005-6 ....... 26 players out / 23 players in : 2006-7 1st on 88 Pts ( 5 goals for 35yr old Dwight Yorke !!! )
  3. More injuries than goals...never buy anyone who's initials are anagram of SHA
  4. Clean slate ? No... he needs to have a good hard think though over the Summer about why millions if £'s worth of attacking talent has turned into a negative hoofball side. I partly put it down to us being so utterly broken as a club last season and dropping out the Premiership in such a bad way, so a " Can Win" attitude becomes a "Don't Lose". Hopefully they can "reset" mentally and tactically and have the self belief that they won't get hammered every week if they go at teams. I give it 4 / 5 games before we will know the answer
  5. That makes no sense looking at like that ? RDM had fallen further behind the "run rate " of points required in 11 Games than Bruce managed to fall behind in 35 !
  6. Agent Elphick trying to secure the title for them
  7. More like it..having a go at a team for a change
  8. Like a hospital patient who's had major surgery...you can't expect our vitals to bounce right back after such a long decline..first comes a period in intensive care.....then the patient is stabilized...before a gradual period of recuperation and return to full health. These things take time and cycles of decline and are well documented is the business world, we are through the crisis stage. Faulty actions are often more damaging than inaction ( sack the manager..change the squad..start again cycle ) and can lead to yet more instability. From where we were last season mid table is progress...progress next season will be improving the away form and not going on 2 losing streaks, if Bruce can do that ( and he is capable ) then we will be in the play offs this time next year. Top two is fantasy from where we've been. Recovery is a process that has to run it's course, what we see on the pitch is just the tip of a massive iceberg that is Aston Villa. I am confident that everything behind the scenes is now being done the right way, but it's a huge task and a long road. Sacking the Manager at this stage will only put us back several steps and in all probability only yield similar results. Unless we start next season like we did under RDM I expect Bruce to be given until December to have us in the Top 6
  9. I think we need a proper keeper..can't we get Begovic ?
  10. I think it's we've made decent progress under Bruce and it's easy to forget how utterly low we sank last season. With only half the points of Norwich above us, a minus 49 goal difference and we only scoring every one and a half games with the leakiest defence in the division we were basically almost twice as bad as the teams that came down with us. Not only were we failing on the pitch , we were failing as an organisation from the Chairman down. Turning around any organisation of this size once the decline has kicked in whether it's a football club or in a different sector is notoriously difficult ( look up my local hospital in Stafford for a prime example ) and it isn't just a case of throwing money at the problem, there's a much bigger picture at play and takes a long time to turn around. I believe Dr Tony understands this and quickly realised RDM was not the right character for this bruised and battered club. Bruce is a very affable character regardless of playing style and a " good man " that players & staff can relate to which is why he's still here. Capable of getting us promoted with the right personality to help nurture the club back to health. That we are comfortably mid table after two massive wobbles is a big turnaround from last season, we are only 5 points off Norwich who came down in much better shape. We have been completely dysfunctional for 4 or 5 seasons .....getting back to where we want to be is a process, and we are part way through that process. That Bruce is on record even during our winning streaks that the football is no what we want is a only positive in my view. Next season I expect us to be further down the road in the ongoing rehabilitation of our once great club. Expect the playoffs..hope for automatic promotion.
  11. Went today - I'm being kind to say it was mediocre until Gabby came on and fired the place up. First he replaced the ineffective Grealish who seemed to try and beat one player too many and lose the ball constantly. As Gabby ran on and out to the wing his first contribution was to shoulder barge a blues player for no reason lol. Then he chased a couple of lost causes and got us a throw ....when they didn't give him the ball to take a quick free kick I honestly thought he was going to start a fight and was worried he was so wound up he'd get another yellow and get sent off...but it ignited the crowd, so thank goodness he scored which seemed to calm him down. He actually won more headers and flick-ons during his time on the pitch than Hogan did. I don't get to go to many games these days so was surprised how negative we seem to have become. Chester , Baker Hutton were all solid I thought and was impressed with Taylor who is a massive upgrade on Amavi for me Jedinak is a warrior but slow...I don't really see Lansbury , Bacuna , Adomah, Hourihane , Grealish as promotion winning material next season the way they've played today At least we won and the ship is slowly turning after the horror show of last season.
  12. If we had 11 Huttons at least we'd go down fighting
  13. Bruce won't be the manager by the time Hogan is fit again
  14. I can't remember which match it was but one of the home games in what I figure must be the 90-91 season, and before the players came out a black & white cat suddenly appeared pitchside and ran and up the touch line. After about 30 seconds the the Holte end started chanting " Cats-carino , Cats-carino ! "
  15. Our best signing of the summer IMHO , been class every time I've seen him play
  16. Did you see how Gollini ran over to Jack after the final whistle ? He seemed genuinely ecstatic with the win and seemed to be congratulating Jack. Then they both gave their shirts to fans in the Holte end, Jack to little girl down near the front. It was great to seem them enjoying the moment and some team bonding.
  17. Yeah, I was there today and he was top drawer..won everything..stopped lots of their attacks...had a great game
  18. Double the length of half time so you don't have to miss the last 5 minutes of the first half to get served at the free bar in the 82 lounge
  19. Whoever it is, I reckon they have until the Burton Albion game at home and if we haven't picked up 4 or 5 wins by then with the transfer window looming we'll be after a 3rd Manager.
