  1. We are going to tear up the league! Wow Villa, wow!
  2. Sanchez?!!!! He was and still is complete shite!
  3. Cheers, I’ll try n calm down now
  4. That’s what I said, they’re not worth our time and breath.. They are beneath us and not worth “petty scrapes” as you say. There is no comparison between the clubs and their stature. I just detest them, the way they act and behave. They’ve never been on our level but act as though they are a genuine rival and regularly spout vitriol (example, mocking Jack over the death of his baby brother!!!). If they were more sensible then there wouldn’t be so much animosity. I don’t give them any thought, just replied on a comment about Jota - a player I don’t think they could appreciate or integrate. Wolves are the team I want us to catch and overtake...
  5. Na, they don’t have an asking price of £20m for every player!
  6. I don’t think they have the intelligence to realise. Most of them probably don’t know what proper football is and what a proper player looks like. They’re just a shite, small, scrappy club. Detest them and their fans, so small time and not worth our time or breath. Can’t forgive their antics in the last game, even the flipping stewards were acting like neanderthals! Glad for Jota that we got him out of there, he must feel like he’s been released from prison!
  7. So great to have a squad full of genuine quality, everyone’s going to have to up their game and be on top form in order to get into the side. No passengers or automatic picks... Plus, we will have options for different games and tactics. Looking forward to the Leipzig game, that Villa side will probably be the closest to our first XI ahead of the Spurs game and give us the best impression of our capabilities against a strong side. Purslow wasn’t messing about when he said we have absolutely no interest in flirting with relegation! What an exciting time to be a Villa fan! UTV
  8. Agreed, though I’d still be more than pleased if we just get DM sorted (Nakamba & Luiz and we are ready to go). On GK, I don’t feel the same about other positions, but I’d prefer us to go for a British or British based keeper rather than a foreign option for now. It’s such a crucial & high pressure position and I’ve noticed many foreign keepers come over here and take time to adjust and struggle with the physicality of the game. Often they turn out to be fantastic keepers but it’s the adjustment period that concerns me. Given time and the right conditions, I genuinely felt that Gollini could have been great for us, as an example. They usually struggle with high balls, collecting crosses into the box and their handling is often weak - main strengths usually seem to be reflexes and shot stopping. Eventually, many of them overcome these struggles but it takes time and is a risk. Someone with a bit of experience and who has a calm, confident, commanding personality would be ideal. I wouldn’t mind either Heaton or Butland (he’s a good age).
  9. If we get both Marvelous & Luiz in, I’m feeling really good about this season. We will be fairly strong in most positions and have good options in case of injuries/suspensions/rotation. I certainly wouldn’t complain if we don’t get anymore signings in (although I would like us to get a really solid GK in) but I don’t think we’re done just yet. We really appear to have a young, energetic and exciting side that wants to play attacking football, how refreshing! DM was my biggest concern but no longer will be if we get these deals done. Wow, what a transfer window...
  10. Fair point but I don’t think we’ve, as of yet, had to deal with the kind of pressure we are going to face in the PL, since Smith joined us. Since he settled the team down (including integrating Mings, getting Grealish back, establishing Steer as our GK) and we went on the record breaking run of wins, I think we only faced inferior teams. If we had started the season with Smith and that side, I feel we could well have finished as champions. It was a weird and highly disrupted season and the fact we managed to get promoted after all of it is of great credit to Deano. Tbh, I’m not confident against teams like Spurs with our present side, I just think we need some solidity to combat their threats. I hope we don’t get easily overrun and broken through in those type of games. A solid DM and backup would give me more assurance. Honestly, I don’t know what to expect but I am genuinely excited. We’re going to come up against drastically bigger tests than today so isn’t much of an indicator to me. Glad to see the new signings showing their qualities and appearing to have settled in quickly. Really looking forward to the Leipzig game...
  11. Was enjoyable and exciting to watch today but we can’t forget the level of the opposition, we will be playing far stronger teams and need some defensive resilience and steel. A solid DM is a priority imo. Spurs is going to be a really tough game. I’ll be most interested to see how we do against Leipzig during preseason. That will be the best gauge of how capable we are as a team.
  12. Certainly looking a better option than Green...
  13. Strolling... Jack’s gonna have some fun this season with the quality around him.
  14. Too good for them, feel sorry for him having had to play in that shite side, in that shite stadium , in front of those shite fans. What a shite club!
  15. Well, if nothing else, we won’t have to put up with any more dross and hyper defensive hoofball!! Finally, some stylish attacking football.. Really looking forward to what Deano and his team can do this season, signings are looking spot on so far and just what we needed!
  16. Yeah I like how unselfish he is but also how he seems capable of taking genuine chances.
  17. He needs a full season at a Championship club.
  18. yeah the run up concerned me too but he put it away with aplomb!
  19. Go on Wes! He is looking like the real deal!
