  1. Conversely… if we had a decent second choice keeper, he would play more games than Olsen has… Emi could be rested in cup competitions and against weak(er) opposition… The problem we have is that the drop off is too severe… so Emi HAS to play as much as possible, even if he’s not at 100%. Can see a young keeper, possibly Gauci, getting much more game time (beginning next season) than Olsen has and who better to learn from and develop under than the world number 1?? A decent veteran keeper would still be better and bring less nerves and anxiety than he does too… but better and more beneficial to develop our future keeper who could, one day, eventually take over from Emi… or the roles become reversed… sounds like “big club planning” to me…
  2. Fans brought it… a shame the players didn’t… next time…
  3. This too… one thing that frustrated me is we were trying to play the same way as we do with Emi but… Olsen is not even comparable to him… he can’t do what Emi does so we should adapt and kind of keep the ball away from him a bit…. Stop faffing about with it at the back with Robin… he can’t hack it and usually makes a mistake or boots the ball at a player who is under pressure or marked… it’s fine when Emi is there but Robin is not up to the same task. We just couldn’t get the ball into and hold onto it in midfield enough… was so disappointing. Needed McGinn and Luiz to stand up and take control of the game but they were just not at it…
  4. Yeah… I don’t think there is any getting away from this. We can back n support him (and he’s not solely responsible for defeats like this) but… there really isn’t any doubt that he is a poor goalkeeper and, despite some visible although slight improvements, just exudes and gives off negative vibes, anxiety, nerves… Emi brings so much positivity, leadership, confidence and a degree of comfort… the defenders know they can trust him, he is in charge (Robin never is, not at all commanding) and he will bail them out at times… He’s not strong or confident enough… some very weak attempts at saves at times… lets in some really cheap goals… Don’t think we can afford to mix up the defence if we have to play Olsen either… need our strongest and regular players to help him out. Lenglet was poor/rusty and looked scared/nervous too… Carlos was immense vs Arsenal but poor and “frazzled” vs Chelsea… it’s like Olsen makes our defenders error prone or just nervous too… his anxiety spreads to others… Robin just injects anxiety and nerves into the side unfortunately and needs to be moved on… Maybe Sinisalo is ready if Gauci is not… - Regardless, he’s not the only one to blame nor the only one who deserves criticism but… there is a worrying trend or pattern and we look a different side when he has only more often than not… We have to move on from him, he can be a liability and we’ve got to move on from that sort of thing… it’s why Chambers never really gets a look in really. I was really disappointed in McGinn and Luiz btw… we needed control of that midfield but they failed… but… they will be back and much improved. Been brilliant much more often than not… players seem drained, mentally as well as physically… need one final push from them.
  5. I’m with Unai… YOU ARE OUR LIGHT
  6. Backing him to show what he is really made of asap… big test of character for him and a significant point of his career and development. If we are supporters… let’s actually support our (better) players and those that have brought us all this way… N not be shitty, petty, fickle and entitled like other fanbases…
  7. Poor performance, haven’t been too many of those from Dougie…. but… form is temporary, class is permanent and he has it in abundance. He will return and hopefully fired up to perform and overcome what is quite a big challenge for him now… and I back him to overcome it and become even better. I’m not going to lose faith in and turn on the players that are a massive part of our success and progress so far…
  8. Get your point mate and usually respect your opinion.
  9. The next step in Heck’s master plan
  10. Maybe it isn’t ideal but… you can shrink that plenty and still distinguish the lion or shape… even in sunlight… you’d still be able to make it out… or just make the lion claret altogether! Seeing it on the shirt… it wouldn’t just be a blurred yellow blob Again, a quick, easy, cheap (?) fix… But we deserve a hell of a lot better… fat chance of that…
  11. I don’t really think this is the case either mate… ok, maybe the colours to a degree but the lion is a big enough difference (and why it should be vivid and prominent) from hammers… personally… I’m not sure we even need a full crest… maybe the unique ASTON VILLA LION is enough and can be iconic… I’ve always associated our colours and our club as the most vibrant and bold too… West Ham & Burnley colours and especially shirts are quite bland, dark and dull in comparison… personally… I’ve always seen a big difference… we just need to perfect the design of the badge and not worry about comparisons to other clubs imo… they should all look up to, respect and fear us
  12. Wish we would change/upgrade these crappy lions though… the worst version… would look way better with the proper ones.
  13. That’s fair but… I’m of the mentality that it should be them worrying about resembling us/ours rather than the other way around, we are the original and best claret and blue team (with a classy touch of gold). Plus we have a lion… they have a pair of shitty hammers…
  14. What I don’t get… is if a simpleton like me can so easily and quickly improve on what we had and are likely to get… why can’t the club or whoever they employ???
  15. Yeah pretty much, just wondered what effect it would have when the badge is miniaturised, zoomed out, viewed from a distance it’s kind of a quick fix and improves on it or remedies the original problem/issue somewhat… at least the lion can be seen and not reduced to an obscure or blurred blob. But not the sort of quality we deserve or expect…
  16. Thanks mate, sorry to disturb… have a wonderful time
  17. This sounds like the voiceover for an old movie trailer… “in a game where…” “in a world where…” This guy’s a Villa fan too:
  18. Or just change the colour scheme and instantly improve it
  19. Just curious what a claret outline around the lion would look and to what degree it would help the lion stand out… a darker shade of blue might help too and a “golder version” of the yellow… since they’re unwilling to drop the stupid colour scheme. Sounds like an easy fix compared to the crap they have come up with and amateur drop shadow. the same shade of claret outlining the lion may work… anyone wanna give it a go? @Ingers @fightoffyour @Teale's 'tache @Muller Yogurt Long Sleever could also try in the crappy new badge… but change that horrid dark or almost black border to the bright claret of the original. truly horrid
  20. Oh not that horrible defanged, declawed lion… the first Lerner one and the worst of the lot. but looks great otherwise… I dunno if we’ll use a standalone lion on any of the kits though. This just needs the proper lion on it.
