  1. Ok so I got it wrong the other day with my Winkleman, Swift, Delevigne combo and I accept in hindsight they're crackers, I thought they'd be much hated by some. I took it back and here is my chance to disgrace myself. Definitely they are one to be guilty about fancying. I haven't read back though so they may have already "gone". 1- Definitely a polarising figure - Priti Patel 2- Ok this one surely lads, should be a guilty one, due to the 10/10 annoying factor of just flat out being one of the biggest narcs on telly. Yes its unfortunate her husbands still so ill, but, I hate the way she has positioned herself so profitably amidst the pandemic. The shameless exploitation in my eyes of her husbands condition. She "wrote" a book about it, got a tv series funded. I mean Jesus Christ woman, has the guy even consented to any of this shameless milking of his recovery... She has become unbearable over time, and ok is older these days and heading in a sort of Gail Platt direction. So surely this one is definitely in fitting with the title of the thread. Sorry, but Kate Garraway. But my logic was from when I was much much younger, but if Xela is picking Carol Vorderman then I can feel no shame with Mrs Which Camera Do I Look Into And Here Comes The Tears: but more so from these days you know, but there's definite overlap sometimes:
  2. For sure! Absolutely! Right from the Alan Partridge days onwards. Especially when she was a bit more Cory Chase looking (dont google the latter on a work PC).
  3. "Things you often wonder," ok, here's one. If that James Webb Telescope thing is safe from Bruno's penalty from the last United Villa game. Hope NASA considered that, it's still up there.
  4. Ages ago when I joined this site, people recommended The Wire as being one of the best box sets of all time. It is of course, but I am in my annual watch-through and I am starting to notice some likenesses. Mid-way through season 3 and well, i know these pics don't do them any justice but may a little on your next watch-through. Caveat - I am actually due an eye test. So I have cast some Villa players as cast of the Wire. Marlon Harewood as D'angelo Barksdale Brad Friedel as Herc Nathan Delfouneso as Wallace Ashley Young as Marlo Stanfield Albert Adomah as Poot Fabian Delph as Carver Wilfrid Bouma as Bodie Struggling now, so Tommy Johnson as Rhonda Pearlman And thats 6pm and I am going home. Enjoy the game later lads.
  5. Oh yeah cheers bud apparently it was Fabinho.
  6. I'm still p'd off at Ipswich Town to be honest, for wasting Barry's time. The facts: - rated highly as emerging talent by West Brom - so much so that he showed up on Barcelona's radar, gets signed - wins awards in their developmental setup - gets transferred here - gets thrust into a debut against oh ermmmm only the league champions sporting the obstacle man mountain that is Virgil Van Dijk, scores, wins plaudits.... exciting talent proven - loaned to Ipswich who barely use him at all and as I write, are in 10th place (but are L1s joint third top scorers to be fair but...) why even bother loaning him. Good enough to achieve all of the above points but not good enough for Ipswich first XI more? Enjoy League One again next year, Ipswich. I cannot wait to see Barry develop. Good luck son.
  7. Some mixed feelings on the thread since I last looked. I said I was happy with this one a few pages back, but just wanted to say something to VTers, who are defending Targett saying we should have stuck with him and backed him up with youth. Firstly, I love Matt Targett for us, he's a straight up lad and he has, when he has been on form, played some absolute blinders at times, two or three games in particular, almost like god-mode left back. But there've been some howlers too when Matt has looked like a rabbit in the headlights. I know it was only the first game of the season, but that Watford game sticks in my head, Ismaila Sarr absolutely tore him up, his confidence went early on and he was "lost" in that match. I think he even got subbed at HT I could be wrong, then Young started the next game? I cant remember b yes a while back etc. I don't think in the short term Targett is finished here. He has to accept competition. At worst, it will surely spur him on to get reselected, graft in training and take an opportunity when it comes, to find a higher bar of what is standard for him. He has to, as the bar just got raised by Digne. If that doesn't work for him, he will have no problem finding another Premier League club (maybe a Leeds or back to Southampton type team) and we will definitely recoup our transfer fee on him. But, he can't expect us to not improve on areas where they need it. Digne gives us somethign different. Extra creativity. And what if Digne got suspended, or injured? Or even got COVID/related restrictions on playing for a while... What if even, we got into Europe this season or at the end of the next? We wouldn't be playing 38 league games plus an additional say 5/6 (hopefully more) combined games in cups, add all those Europe matches on top too (and better cup progression) and there is a definite opportunity for rotational opportunity and getting game time, damned away trips to Kazkahstan or Israel on a Thurs night and a match on Sunday (if Europa). Healthy competition is good. Digne, Targett and emerging youth will provide that. As I say I love Targett myself but he needs this and so do we. Also, if we plan to progress, it is through this kind of move that we do so. Our squad has holes, this was one. 3 questions: 1- Does Digne improve the squad - yes. 2- Do we need him - yes. 3- Can he hit the ground running - yes. We are a big club, but we can't call ourselves one without walking the walk too. We ideally need to be two-deep in each singular position and have youth chopping away at that even more so. This is a good move for us. His wages sound pricey but that what we have seen so far is speculation anyway, we don't know those facts yet. Having Digne, Targett (and emerging youth) is truly a "good problem" for us. I don't doubt Stevie G's man-management skills either. He will make it work. Our new manager has a minimum level of expectancy for achievement that we have not had for a long time. The guy's a fierce winner, with him as your boss you simply have to be the best version of yourself to get picked or even stay contracted here. The bar just got raised. This isn't au revoir Matt, it is just bonjour Lucas. PS. Screw Newcastle, sorry just had to slip that in.
  8. And there's another one missed Eddie! As Digne nears, ouch, what it must feel like to be a Geordie right now. They are going to end up hating us more than Blues. Good.
  9. (Source : Wiki) random fact below in red, fair play lad: Personal life[edit] On December 27, 2014, Digne married his girlfriend Tiziri, who he met while both were attending lycée, similar to sixth form.[47] The couple have two children, a son called Isahoet born in April 2019 and a daughter Inhaya, born in 2021.[48] Digne was in Barcelona when it was hit by a terror attack on 17 August 2017, and gave first aid to the victims.[49][50][51]
  10. Agreed CVByrne, and in today's modern prices, approx £20m ish plus add ons isn't that bad at all for a player literally in his prime years. We paid about 15m ish all-in for Targett anyway and this guy is an upgrade for a few mill more. This is definitely a positive move. Add to this that he apparently wanted to come here, when other destinations have been possible. Digne wants in.
  11. Hi Genie, Thanks a lot cheers bud. This just popped up while I was lurking at the Lucas Digne posts. I saw that site mentioned earlier, Coinbase, referenced on a page as one of the top5. I don't know anyone in my private life who has ever done this so I think I will take up your recommendation as the internet is sh-te and biased or thats my paranoia anyway. Absolutely understood on the volatility, and the amounts I will leave be, are not gonna be huge in any way to start. I will read thoroughly and not put my eggs all in one basket. Will sign up by Weds! It gives me something to do that's for sure. Big thanks and have a good one. I've spent time away from this site, what was I thinking.
  12. Cheers Sam, I will be looking into that thanks. I will also look into the differences between Bitcoin (and how everyone else does it, wallet etc) and Paypal backed purchase and holding of Bitcoin within Paypal itself. Lotta research to do. So many shysters out there in relation to crypto, like nothing I have ever seen before. Like on youtube for instance, people about 20 years old talking about their routes with it, their successes, well why the hell is your bed in the background of the shot then, crazy. Frauds everywhere. Cheers! edit - will also look at those others on that Yahoo list too. I guess doesn't hurt to try baby amounts.
  13. Source : TeamTalk Can't see it reported elsewhere but https://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham-united/ruthless-steven-gerrard-green-lights-aston-villa-kortney-hause-transfer Linked with a move to West Ham / Watford in this window (or if Dean Smith maybe wanted to reunite, could be a decent signing for Norwich). With no Axel and us potentially cashing in on a modest fee for Hause, we are going to need a centre back a lot sooner rather than later, poss 2 unless SG promotes from within. It is Teamtalk though lets face it, but with his contract up in June, bound to be off if the chance materialises.
  14. I bet some of the Noses think, well, anything Villa can do, we can do better. This to them is their Coutinho signing. Sorry Bluenoses, he has to go back to his employers at the end of the season. I just hope the lad doesn't need counselling for PTSD when the ordeal is over. And likely some antibiotics too just in case. #PrayForDiallo
  15. Very true Zatman. It'll be a revolving door for managers there, especially those that are the type to go eyes-wide-open into knowing they'll only have to do 6 -12 months before getting paid up fully on a 3 year contract. It makes me think, of such a backwards step as you say, and how they think they are Man City now...a little of well.... what was Man City;s path when they got bought out by their mega-rich owners, according to Wiki: - Got bought out, bye bye Sven New Phase Manager 1 - Mark Hughes - lasted one year - win ratio - 46% Manager 2- Roberto Mancini - lasted sort of 3 years but won the league and FA Cup - win ratio 59% Manager 3- Manuel Pellegrini - lasted 3 years, won the league and 2 League Cups = win ratio 59% Manager 4- Pep Guardiola - 5 and a half years in - 3 League titles, 1 FA Cup, 3 League Cups - win ratio 73% So Man City they are not, they splashed so much money after their takeover, but that was their progression. With Newcastle, Eddie Howe may be their Mark Hughes, but their next manager will be no Mancini (athough damn, the theorist in me now thinks maybe Mancini could be a candidate to replace Howe at the end of the season and wonder what the odds of that are, few quid on Rafa, few quid on Mancini). So Newcastle fans talking it up, saying they'll be the dominant force in the Premier League in five years, some boasting they would have won the league within that time, well they have a lot of resetting of their expectations to come, especially after yesterday. Lots of mercenaries to sign, the occasional big name, a melting pot of egos and attitudes that won't care at all for Newcastle when the going gets tough..... I'm sure they';ll progress eventually over time, but with lots of fraudenschede for everyone along the way as it goes wrong. The slight danger is who they get as their next manager, but the way things are going, they have yesterday alone, given out such bad PR as to their prospects and just how big their task is, along with their league position. Added to that the state of the quality of that first team, I mean they could do with 15-20 new players to even be able to consider themselves premier league quality. Here we are, and I am struggling to name any player of theirs that could walk into our team. If they go down, and on the money some of those are on, they will end up in a mess trying to shift them on, and they wont want to grind it out in the Championship. Which is why it is imperative that everyone keeps beating them and ensures they go down please. I think most people have a soft / temporary affiliation to support whoever it is playing against Newcastle on each of their match day, just like yesterday. The fact that happened, with what looked to me like mostly a first team squad, let that reality sink in for them. And look at the managers who turned them down, the players who have so far. Our Coutinho taking a pay cut to come here, not being interested in what no doubt would have been a pay rise there. That's gotta hurt. Hurt the fans and the project and the general PR and attractiveness of going there overall. I hope they continue to be the gift that keeps on giving. Also what's the craic with this Amanda Staveley too, I know she's technically part owner (10%) or something and is there to provide some kind of operational oversight to the club, but there seemed to be something quite unsavoury about her in all this too, aside from the football / the club. She gives me an impression of absolutely loving this and milking it as some kind of saviour-celebrity thing. The way she was jumping on PR opportunties to self promote and be in every camera she could, might be unfair of me to say and that's not some chauvinist take, but she was giving it all that, and she's soon gone quiet. She probably thinks Lascelles is some Alpine Ski Resort etc. No offence to her but I find her intolerable and one of the weirdest looking people I have ever seen. I am convinced she is not of Earthly origin, like that bloke near the start of Men In Black film that takes over the body of some guy but doesnt quite fit the face over his skull properly, that kind of weird looking. And Shearer too, giving it the big talk and being pro-everything-Newcastle-blindly again just because Ashley has gone. How did he feel yesterday, was he excusing it as part of their inevitable progression? Have some of that. Alan Shearerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Ant and Dec, Jimmy Nail, Cheryl Cole, vi har slått dem alle sammen, vi har slått dem alle sammen! Can you hear me! Your boys took a helllllllllllll of a beating, a helllllllllllllllllllll of a beating! Get some. Get some. Get some. Get some, Newcastle fans. That's the Midfielder anti Newcastle am rant done.
  16. I take it all back. Ignore that post! My crushes are legitimised it seems. I habe never heard any bloke mention any of those four in an "I would" way, ever. I've been wondering for a while why all my friends have moustaches and keep trying to get me to go to ah well that's me said anyway
  17. I have a weird feeling that come July, Howe will have been sacked, Rafa will have survived by the skin of his teeth but because of the Everton fans he "leaves by mutual consent" anyway, to immediately replace Howe and take over at Newcastle again to help them get back up into the Premier League. Afterall, he went to China to chase a big payday, he may again to Newcastle. He has all the makings of a new-phase Newcastle manager in that regard and is revered by much of their fanbase. Maybe. As for today... I am so proud of Cambridge United (and Plymouth) for their gift to us, neutrals, purists, Mackems, the list goes on.
  18. And then immediately loan him out to Plymouth Argyle so he can gain experience from playing with a better squad. I like your thinking.
  19. Exactly, oh they are VERY VERY quiet these days for sure. And that is the way I like it. Their pain and dismay is like a second form of oxygen to me, I need it to breathe.
  20. Fair play to them, thats a long trip to donate to charity.
  21. "Today's attendance. The crowd at St Andrew's is 9,823, including 2,860 members of the Green Army." - Source The Plymouth Herald
  22. What a great day. 1- Blues embarrass themselves at home to Plymouth 2- Newcastle embarrass themselves at home to Cambridge United
  23. Yeah! And one of those is their Support Worker who doesn't even support Blues
  24. I just checked on BBC football: Blues - 7 shots , 0 on target Plymouth - 22 shots , 6 on target Come on Plymouth keep it together. Can you imagine the anger right now at the Trillion Trophies Stadium EDIT FINAL WHISTLE GONE aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - times ten
  25. Hi All. Been a while since I was in off topic and I have noticed this thread. When it comes to savings, I am pure vanilla in that I save with the bank who hold my current account / ISA, nothing at all outside of that. I know nothing about crypto at all, I am a complete outsider. I am getting interested in it, or rather the idea to have a stab at investing in it. This has only come about as I bought something on Ebay before Christmas and I don't know if it has always been there or is recent, but I noticed an option to buy Bitcoin in of all places, PAYPAL. But then I think, what else is there aside from BITCOIN which I understand has plummeted a bit. Fair play to all of you who have invested in crypto over time. I never had the balls to risk it. But honestly what is the point in having money in an ISA etc at the moment... etc rates are so low. I have just watched some orange bellend with a manbun on Youtube going on about various crypto currencies and I am considering taking a punt at investing. This wallet business puts me off but I guess, but well it is electronic afterall so makes sense. I understand risk of investment and currency fluctuation being likely... so there is risk, like there is with any investment that I could lose out. But can I ask anyone on here, well, if you were me, would you take savings and turn them into crypto investments? Or just leave be? I listened to the guy for as long as I could (every third or fourth word he said was "like") so I sacked it off and went to Google instead, but that is littered with so much crap that I can't take half the stuff seriously. It seems there are a lot of chancers and gobsh-tes running websites with opinions I find very blindly biased and suspect. I really appreciate the time and input, thanks, but can I ask please: 1- Is there a go-to "resources" website you guys use or can recommend in relation to crypto, either explanatory ones or that you use to track trends? 2- This here below is what I just screenshotted from Yahoo, who seem to think these may "explode" in 2022 ( )if you were to take a punt as a beginner, would you go for one of these (or is BITCOIN the best stab)? source: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/5-next-cryptos-explode-2022-150359668.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAIBT8Lg3KSmCNpEJLG2BIizLZDLuSs1k_HRA3uj9eElT3ObscWRJUOLprKBTIQXqX-kZnWNjIaKoT6TMaT2JknFvbu1JJW50OLzBTyxjVE4TB_nP0tdRrVoDSWIPKbrDlBbHedLQhSryCUG-GH_iGcr-nvq6DyUivbr_qS4B4tjy
