  1. Why all the denials then? Kendrick and Nursey would have normally been all over this. Be a kick in the nuts if it turns out to be Hull
  2. Surely if he moves, he needs to go somewhere with Champ's league football. Not to pretenders like **** Spurs and Liverpool high on the smell of their own farts.
  3. lets hope he doesn's take his foot off the pedal, we don't need a gear change down in talent
  4. our youth teams over recent years have been highly praised yet very few players have actually made it, look at the last crop Bannan: About to be moved on Herd: May join him Delf: Has never fulfilled his early promise Albighton: See above All there is left is Baker and Clark and neither are nailed on as future long term Villa players although Baker has a fair chance. Weimann is one of the few that has actually made it. We certainly don't have any defensive cover left at youth level, what happens if Lowton gets crocked?
  5. If there is a chance we can get him back to the form of his debut season then I think he should get some match time..... but not actually sure he would get that match time. There is a difference from someone showing what they are capable of and then getting lost in injury and doubt, and someone who has never shown their potential. When he was briefly fit last season there were signs that Lambert rated him enough to give hin a chance. a loan to the championship would be the best move, see if he can run AND cross again,
  6. he's not a replacement. his passing is not good enough for crossing and when he takes direct free kicks he powers them. that is not a set piece taker. plus he is right footed. we need to replace N'Zogbia's left foot, and Bannan if he goes. If Bannan left would you stop supporting Villa?
  7. My god Con are you Bannan's agent, are you his brother, are you the man himself. This endlessly trying to convince us Bannan is the new Messi has been going on a long time. Yes you are entitled to your opinion and no i don't hate Bannan at all, but 336 pages and counting and your posts must make up 300 of those, is he paying you?
  8. he has poor spacial awareness though Hopefully Luna will make us turn the tide
  9. for those thinking we some are harsh on Bennett........ he hasn't bee great defensively but hopefully he will improve and develop at Villa - and i'm sure everyone wants that. He has the technical abilities anyhow. I am really loving the fact we are prepared to look at young potential players from other leagues, it just goes to show you how inflated and overrated even Championship players are. We can't even get 6 mil for Bent and yet Ipswich want that for Cresswell???
  10. very random one, can't be any worse than Bennett defensively i guess
  11. Out of? Not sure the last decent defender we produced? Cahill we flogged before he even had a chance to reach his potential. Ridgewell was mainly awful, Lowry was flogged, Herd can't defend for toffee, O'Halloran probably was scuppered by injury..... struggling to remember others. J L Samuel???? Bewers, Jackman, Amoo???? We don't seem to be able to produce decent defenders, it doesn't seem Derrick Williams is rated that highly. Clark hasn't shown any natural defensive qualities at all or playmaking ability (from defence), he is tidy on the ball and can pass, but he can't read the game and gets caught out of position all the time. He definitely has talent and I want to see him do well and fulfill his potential. Baker is a much more natural defender who throws his body on the line and seems to be improving all the time despite his mistakes.
  12. I don't think anyone actually knows what he would expect wages wise. If a player thinks they are worth of 10 mil, don't you think they'd thing they were worth high wages also? Not saying that is an exact science obviously.
  13. It's not about cheap players, these days transfer fees aren't the problem, it's player's fees that have spiralled out of control. Even if Lambert would pay Belhanda's fee, would he pay the wages to? It's also been a very long time since we've bought a player from a position of strength and stability. Bent was arguably a signing to save us from relegation.
  14. Didn't the club come out and deny that rumour though I agree with the majority in here that think this is just a load of crap and we won't sign him Its just wesley sneijder all over again True. But it seems that agents and even the club owners themselves will do anything to make money and pimp out a player they want to profit from. I would love to see Belhanda at Villa, it would just be too much of a gamble to buy a player for 10 mil+ on potentially high wages, who could work out and flourish and increase in value, but will more than likely just end up another Makoun or Ireland.
  15. It sounds too similar to the Coutinho situation. He just doesn't fit the profile of the type of player Lambs would go for and the transfer fee and wages wouldn't fit either, not saying we can't afford him. The club want raw talent and potential, or proven but inexpensive foreign talent unproven at prem level.
  16. I think Cresswell is nailed on myself. I expect him and Murphy to be signed up before the season starts. We shall see, but Cresswell was always his number 1 choice and Murphy has been on his radar for some time. It's gone quiet though
  17. i wonder if we are looking abroad for a left back?
  18. I think Clark can still come good, as many have said he is not a natural traditional defender, but you could see he did improve and maybe alongside Vlaar he would be ok if both played together for long enough. Albrighton has had one good season but looked shocking since Bannan has had about 5 good games - but has never really pushed on. Herd has had about 2 good games and never looked anything other than average all other times Delf has never had a run in the team but has never looked the part from the bench Clark has struggled all season but did start to get better before being injured, and has had a couple of good games in midfield.
  19. I hope we keep Zog and maybe give Albrighton a final chance. Aside from that we only have Herd, Delf, Bannan, Ireland and Stevens left - and the only definite one I think Lambert has to shift is Ireland, god knows how. The rest will be sold or moved on if possible but may well be kept for now although i doubt anyone cares if they leave. Delf has never had a chance under Lambert so might get that.
  20. why is everyone so convinced he is gonna join us, because Laursen said he should?
  21. Is this another Coutinho where we get linked just so the agent can drum up interest and bump up the transfer fee so that scum like Liverpool can steam in and throw their weight around? The chances of us actually signing anyone 'proven' or 'experienced' is pretty damn unlikely, all we can do is gamble on promising unknowns like Tonev and hope they come good and as soon as they do flog them for three times what we bought them for at the first available opportunity.
  22. People were saying exactly the same when we got linked to Christian Benteke last summer. With respect there is no comparison. Bentekke was the rising star of the Belguim national team - his current club Genk were very keen to hang onto him, a fee of £11m was mentioned at one stage. I think the only reservations that were expressed was if he could adapt to the premier league - most people on here were pretty excited. Ive never seem him play - but his CV doesn't seem a patch on Bentekke's. If he comes in and has a similar impact to Bentekke, I will happily admit I was wrong. I don't see us doing this deal in anycase. I can't find the post, but I distinctly remember some Belgian guy giving his opinion on Benteke before we signed him - saying that he was hit and miss and probably wasn't ready for the step up to the Premier League quite yet. Look how that turned out. Yep i remember quite a few opinions like that from his clubs fans saying he wasn't all that. What utter cods wallop
