What a dull build up this has been to Joshua-Ruiz. It's just not a very good fight. Joshua just needs to keep it long, even Parker could do that against Ruiz and won, and Parker isn't that good. I want to see Joshua - Fury at some stage next year though so yeah, hope Joshua wins.

So if it's 20, 25, 30 games where he still looks woefully inept are we allowed to voice concern then ?

Historically speaking ( and not exactly rocket science ) if you are playing a lone striker in this league and he's not scoring goals, you are gonna struggle. Now i don't think spunking a shed load of cash on Maupay was the answer either but i think we are in trouble if we are banking on this guy to come good.

I think this much fabled scouting department we've heard about since Purslow has come in needs to be under greater scrutiny. The signings are very much " we'll pick one, you pick one " Trezeguet, Wesley and Douglas look to be club signings. Konsa, Jota are clearly Smith signings. Now people will say this is how Smith worked at Brentford. Not really. Brentford have a very clear way they want to play and players are signed to fit that structure. This is not the case here. No rhyme or reason to our recruiting. Purslow said our approach in signing this summer wasn't a shotgun approach. I think that's not accurate. Like to see the logic at how they arrived at some of these signings.

Put Kodjia in. Worth a punt. He can be a handful when he's in the mood. Wesley needs stepping down for a few games.

This was the Liverpool - City fixture back in that glorious 92/93 season. We ran em close. The Villa park fixture between us and United that season was an unreal game of football.
