  1. Marc looked good today on motd. I miss him, would have him back here in a heartbeat.
  2. Absolutely nothing wrong with Westwood's performance today, thought he had a good game. Although agree with the general consensus about games passing him by and stuff. Should definitely sit it out against the big teams, although against lesser oppoenents where we can be more attacking he should start ahead of Sanchez

    Rudy Gestede

Was interested to see his general play today, he looks a real handful. His hold up play seems excellent and he has an eye for a pass as well.
  4. Looks the real deal. Hope he can push on after this performance. I'm really impressed with his defensive abilities, looked really solid. Long may it continue!
  5. Guzan - 6.5. Made some saves, kicking was a bit leave it but kept a clean sheet. Bacuna 5.5. Don't really trust him at the back, was beaten a few times. Didn't do much going forward either. Richards - 8. Was just a rock today. Made some really important tackles and interceptions. Was just unstoppable Clark - 7.5. Was very assured, did a good job on Wilson who looked a handful. Another very solid perfoemance from our Ciaren. Amavi - 7. The guy is just a baller. So classy when on the ball. He reads the game well as well, made a great deal of interceptions. Feels good to have a competent full back! Westwood - 6.5. Kept things ticking over well, great delievery for the goal, put in a few dangerous crosses as well. Did his job in defence. Veretout - 6. Think this guy will be class, really liked the look of him. Did okay today, had a few nice touches and a few nice balls. Be looking forward to seeing him play. Gueye - 6.5. Was all action today, broke up the play well, looks very assured on the ball, can drive at defences as well. A lot to like about Gueye. Ayew - 5. Largely ineffective. A few flashes of quality but did nothing of note. Sinclair - 5.5. A lot of endevour from Scotty, a lot of running, but didn't do much. Agbonlahor - 6. Wasn't as bad as I thought he would be. Made some strong driving runs. Finishing is awful tho. Gestede - 7. Great header by the big man. Looks like he can play a bit too, made some nice passes to put Gabby through. Holds the ball up really well and wins everything in the air. Really like Rudy Sanchez - 6. Fine. Richardson - 6. Fine.

    Rudy Gestede

Won't start, reckon will come on with 20-30 mins to spare.

    Defence

Thought defensively, last year we weren't all bad, just the ineptitude up front put greater pressure on our defence. It'll take time for Richards and Clark to gel, but once they do, I'm sure we'll be fine. Think we have sufficient cover in all position across the back 4 to not be worried. Reckon the defense will need to gel but once it will we'll be fine. Mind you wouldn't mind a prem proven CB.
  8. Think this team goes as far as young Jack does. At the end of last season everything went through him, I can't see it changing this season. Personally can't wait to see him and Gil link up, it feels good to finally have creative players playing for us.
  9. Like what we're doing to the Baggies. They put in a laughable £2m for Clark, so we return the favour by bidding £1m for Lescott. But in terms of swapping the two players, there is no way no hope we would ever do that.
  10. Guzan Hutton Richards Clark Amavi Veretout Westwood Gueye Ayew Adebayor Grealish
  11. We've signed one.But Crespo is a full back isnt he? Can cover at right back, but best position is centre back.
  12. Be gutted if Kozak leaves after this. Has looked a handful in pre season. But Gestede seems like a good buy, especially for around £5-7 mil. 20 goals last year in the championship is pretty good, reckon he could kick on and have a Austin/Ings type season for us. After Ade and Rudy, we need a winger or attacking mid to help provide the chances for our strikers. If you look at our squad, after Grealish and Gil, I see no creativity whatsoever. Hope we get Veretout or Praet or someone of that ilk.
  13. Best thing for both the club and player to do is to go there separate ways. Gabby seems to have burnt out a bit and doesn't look hungry enough anymore, think he'll need a change of scenery to maybe kick start his career. As others have mentioned, however, it won't happen. It's admirable what he's doing, being a one club man, however surely it gets to the point, when season after season of failing to produce, that he's basically stealing from us in staying.

    Hello

Hello, big Villa fan from Cambridge here. Basically love the Villa, read this site for more information on us often, thought its about time I had my say on various Villa related topics. Don't go to many games given the fact I'm not local but I try and get to 1 or 2 games a year. You're probably wondering (or you don't really care) why I support the Villa, well my dads a Brummie and along with his brothers, they were all big Villa fans back in the days of Spinks, Morley, Withe, etc... So, with this, I thought it's only right to carry on the tradition. Not a wise choice going by performances in recent years, but alas, we are Villans, we did not choose we were chosen! Think its exciting times ahead for the Villa, of the current crop, I'm a big fan of Gil and Grealish. As you can tell I do love my flair players, shame we haven't seen many in a Villa shirt in recent times, still good we have the aforementioned 2. I'm currently at the University of Greenwich studying Business Economics. I have a passion for American Football as well. I'm a big fan of the Patriots, however, my allegiance lies with the Claret and Blue, To conclude I would love to be accepted into this forum. It would feel good venting or celebrating about all things Villa to Villa fans. A luxury I don't have as there aren't many fellow Villans down south here. UTV COTV Alistair
