    Impressed with how much he has developed in such a short period of time but key is consistency. Let’s see if he maintains this level to the end of the season and then hopefully he can duke it out with Ramsey and Buendia for that role next season.

    It’s not naive at all based on their performances this season. Look at how many shots they’ve given up in this game. Liverpool had enough chances to win three games.

    We’re just not in a position to countenance refusing the minimum 50m that the champions league will give us in tv revenue, match day revenue, additional sponsorship revenue let alone the additional global exposure we will get. Especially in the PSR age. If anything a season in the champions league will stick 20m on the transfer fee of our key players and make it easier to attract the high potential younger players we will replace the eventual sales from the first team with. Yes we’re not ready for it but we will have a full summer to do that and will be stronger for some of these experiences such as brentford.

    Two key priorities are obvious. A defensive midfielder to challenge Kamara and a right back. Give the Serbian kid a chance in preseason at RB and let’s see how he does as he is very highly rated.

    To a certain degree it’s irrelevant what united do as long as they don’t win 6 or 7 on the bounce, (which they won’t) which is what they will need to do as a minimum to catch us. And we are extremely likely to win at least 2 of our remaining 6 games. As long as the English teams do what’s needed in Europe we’ll be taking at least that fifth spot.

    Totally agree. Also football has moved on. At the highest level, you can’t have the luxury of having any player that can’t contribute to the attack in a significant way anymore - and that includes goalkeepers.

    It’s a very realistic outcome that we could have champions league qualification all but confirmed by a week on Thursday.

    Mings would play instead of Carlos in this current set up and it would be a huge upgrade.

    We bought one of the highest rated youth prospects at RB in Europe in January. We gambled on defensive midfield but equally I suspect we were unable to agree a move for one of our top DM targets. We will obviously reinforce there in the summer but profile again is likely to be a high potential youth player or maybe an experienced pro on a free.

    We don’t have to worry about Man Utd. Due to goal difference they now need 4 wins and a draw to pass us. That leaves t-h-r-e-e games of wiggle room. They literally have to win every single game left including games v Liverpool and Arsenal and hope that we lose nearly every single game remaining. It’s pretty much statistically impossible based on how both teams have played to date this season.

    It’s also very likely he has no real inside knowledge of our PSR situation. That info is about as sensitive as it gets and the club won’t be sharing it with a young reporter pup like Tanswell.

    He was in a similar situation last season I think and managed the disciplinary tightrope very well. Just needs to avoid anything silly.

    We don’t have to sell a first team player in the summer unless anyone is ITK. It’s likely our spend in the summer will be limited though.

    Basically they **** up his screw in the foot and will have to do it again. I’d be **** livid, if I was him.
