We have a forward line to die for and a defence that looks decent for this level but our style of football remains - as it was last season - slow, laborious, turgid, negative and offering the opposition plenty of opportunities to spoil. We need to move the ball from back to front at four times the current speed, either through attacking wide men or midfielders who are dynamic and positive. I don't get what RDM is doing by continuing to play this stodgy style of football when you have guys up front who need the ball early and need the crosses. Is there something wrong with RDM that he doesn't see that or are the players going against his instructions ? Confused !!!

Don't blame Gabby, if I were him I would stay put too. It wasn't his fault the club offered him the contract he is on so why should he walk away from it or relocate the family in order to play elsewhere ? Villa will play him somewhere at some level at some point and when they do, he will have his chance. Personally, I'd drop Ayew for him tomorrow !!!

He is just a guy who can run fast and that is it. He is a 1 out of 10 in just about every other department, his attitude looks iffy and he is injury prone. If any fools are prepared to pay anything for him then sell ..... or just trade him for a bag of training balls !

Ayew does not want to be here, has reacted badly to us not releasing him and now is going to coast through games with no interest in the team, only in his own profile. How stupid must we be to play him ? He should be in the reserves and left there until he changes his attitude !

Just need a couple of decent forwards, a good defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder with vision and a couple of defenders ..... plus a decent goalie ...... and a new manager ..... and boy will we totally smash this rubbish league !!!

We need to get the transfer window closed THEN establish out first eleven THEN start to develop a more positive and more dynamic playing style and that - IF it goes well - will take until Christmas. If we are in a solid mid-table position at that point then I will be very, very happy. Second half of the season and we can kick on, go from strength to strength and be the team with all the momentum. Where that will place us, who knows but I'll certainly enjoy the ride. Don't expect overnight change because it isn't going to happen ..... we have five seasons of going backwards and deeply embedded dirge to resolve !!!

Would tend to agree but strong rosters don't win diddly squat .... its all about team and getting the right mix and that is where a lot of work is required. Despite the pre-season hype, my early impressions are that this league is totally pants and if we can turn our strong roster into a strong team then we'll run riot.

One of the worst players I've ever seen in a Villa shirt and I've seen some bad ones ! He has pace ..... full stop. He can't read the game, he has no positional sense, he can't pass the ball, he is no goalscorer, he is weak and injury prone, he never defends or even tracks back and he has a shit attitude. You need to be off your head to want him as part of any future Villa team. Trade him for a bag of old footballs asap !

Definitely agree. Gestede has upped his game and attitude. Ayew has not ..... he still thinks he is better than he is and his contribution to the team is barely greater than any of the corner flags. I would get rid fast and use the money wisely ..... we don't need him and he is a poor fit with where we are going.
