  1. Yeah, he's seemed to even win over the people who hated him solely because Gerrard bought him.
  2. Funny you mention that... I've always suspected some of the rags read our forums for information. As an experiment, I posted on both Vital Villa and VillaTalk after McLeish got the boot that we should go after Joe Kinnear as our next manager and got a few laughs. A day or two later some random journalist called up Joe on the phone and asked him if he had been in contact with Villa over the manager's job. Good ole' Joe had apparently been hitting the sauce pretty hard that morning and was quoted as saying "Randy Lerner would be stupid to consider me for the job, but I wouldn't turn down the opportunity."
  3. I read a lot of comments this week from Italian footy fans and Gala supporters. Sounds like he's best when given space on the counter attack but struggles against teams who sit back in a low block. Fits right in with our squad lol. Anyway, excited about this one. Sounds like most Gala supporters really rate him for his off the field humanitarian support in the earthquake clean up efforts as well as scoring some key goals for them in the run in.
  4. Some much needed positivity today! Thanks @romavillan
  5. I rewatched the match yesterday with all the emotion out of it. We were well and truly still in the game until Newcastle scored their 3rd then it all fell apart and they dominated the rest of the match. Newcastle's fans really make St. James Park the worst place to play in the Prem for us. We really missed Ramsey and Buendia because McGinn was completely anonymous the first half trying to fill in on that role on the left. Diaby is a player... Can't wait to see more of him. Ollie was unlucky to not score, same with Cash. Konsa's horrific error really personified how unfocused our backline became after Tyrone was stretchered off. Kamara also had a mare, which needs to be addressed going forward. On the positive side, I'm glad we got all these issues out in the first game of the season because it highlighted how weak we are on the left side of the pitch without Buendia, Ramsey, and Moreno and we need to reshuffle the backline without Mings. Looks like Monchi has sprung into action to get Zaniolo and Acuna in before the weekend and I trust Emery will make serious adjustments in our defensive shape. Hoping to see us batter Everton in response this weekend with Villa Park in full voice.
  6. Continuing to rig games for the betting companies? VAR isn't anywhere near this bad in other leagues.
  7. If that was Emi Martinez against Man United, you know damn well it would be given... Pathetic refereeing once again.
  8. Remember when people on here were writing off Moreno after his debut, when he had to come on for an injured Digne and struggled at times against Leeds? Some need to calm down... I don't get the obsession with trying to call anyone shit who wasn't playing perfectly from the jump.
  9. Ty's injury put me in an awful mood today. Here we are 6 hours on from the match and I'm still emotional about it. Not bothered about the result, because I myself on my couch was devastated watching what happened to Tyrone, so I can't imagine how the squad took it, especially at halftime when they had time to think about it. I don't even know the guy but he personifies Aston Villa for me and it chokes me up to see someone who bleeds for the club beyond what I would want every player to do sustain such a horrible injury. Best of luck and hoping for a speedy recovery.
  10. Perfect example of his play. Sometimes looks like he's about to do something brilliant but fooks it up in the end.
  11. I think this has been one of the most toxic transfer windows ever on VT that I can remember. For a club with a universally backed manager and board and a very deep squad that is playing good football, I've never seen so many people losing their minds over speculation or jump down the throats of other posters for having a differing opinion. I've personally stepped back from being as active as I usually am because the vibe is too angry in the Transfer Threads most days.
  12. Who is this miserable commentator? Every game this guy is assigned is made that much worse because of him.
  13. It's easily one of the best games I've ever played. 40 hours in this first week and I'm still nowhere near finishing. Already can't wait for my 2nd playthrough.
  14. It was the last day of March, right before we played Chelsea.
  15. I meant Ugochukwu... Wrong fancy continental DM nobody on here heard of before this summer.
  16. hahaha... I meant Ugochukwu instead of Ugarde... hahaha. My bad.
  17. Tyler Adams headed to Chelsea's bench... lol. Can't see him playing much ahead of Caiciedo and Ugochukwu
  18. If we move Coutinho on, yes I can see us going for him. If we only are looking at another addition, we'll probably go for a striker if Emery doesn't think Archer is ready yet.
  19. Does this mean we have to play Valencia again next summer because we're the cup holders now?
  20. Just need to make sure we hold on these last few minutes and grind their offense to a pulp...
  21. It's like we're watching a stream from 2009... Probably still the same cameras.
  22. Yes, he's a talented kid, but he's still a kid. Needs more minutes to progress as a player and we won't offer him what he needs this season by playing in a handful of cup games. If he turns into a player as good or better than his brother, the buyback clause makes him a steal. If he never progresses past the Championship level, we made a good profit off of him. It's a win/win scenario for me. Also, Burnley are a great team for him to join. They play fantastic footy under Kompany and he'll get plenty of opportunities to play and show what he's all about there.

    Unai Emery

It's amazing to see the team where we are now when 90% of us were ready to bin the entire squad after Gerrard.
