  1. I disagree... We've seen plenty of Villa sides over the year that completely lost faith in their manager and weren't playing for them. Before the Fulham game they were still trying for Gerrard, but the problem was his awful tactical instructions and system he was shoehorning them into.
  2. Mings is having a blinder... I don't see anyone getting by him today.
  3. Look how many bodies are flying into the box whenever we get into the final third! This always drove me mad watching Gerrardball where we quickly break into the channel and have to completely halt the attack because there are only 1-2 Villa players in the box (or blindly float a cross into 7 defenders hoping Ings will somehow latch onto it).
  4. Pretty sure that's the plan going forward. Danks, McPhee, & Cutler are Lange's men now and will help drive continuity.
  5. We're dominating! What a shocker! Actually setting the system/formation up to work to the players' strengths instead of shoehorning them all into a system which doesn't get the best out of any of them actually worked??? Also, PENO!!! LETS GO BOYS!!!
  6. This. I prefer Poch out of everyone on that list, but he isn't a realistic choice. Emery is my no 1 based on everything you said.
  7. Leave the cabbage, take the cannoli.
  8. I would be shocked if we went with someone as inexperienced as Amorim after Gerrard's disastrous appointment. Especially with a buy out clause between 10 and 30 million...
  9. I would be incredibly disappointed with Dyche. He's a better coach than most give him credit for, but going from talk of an "elite" manager to Tony Pulis 2.0 would deflate the fanbase and signal the transfer money is drying up.
  10. No thanks... Here's why: Only 37 and only has 3 full seasons of top flight management in Portugal Gerrard's team outcoached him in the Europa League in 2020 Despite last season's historic performance at Sporting, his team are already massively struggling this season He isn't ready for the Villa job at this time... Basically the equivalent of being the Portuguese Gerrard at the point in his career... Needs several more years of successful management before coming to the Premier League.
  11. Sounds like Sawiris is handling this appointment himself now. Emery could well be the main target with some of the rumors last week of him meeting with Sawiris alone in Spain. I would love him here... Very very underrated manager and for some reason isn't seen as "elite" in England, even though he has this CV: Won 4 Europa League titles (Sevilla 2014, 2015, & 2016, Villareal 2021) and lost another Europa League Final (Arsenal 2019) Won the French League once and both French cups twice with PSG, where he was poached by Arsenal 70 Million pound net spend at Arsenal and managed a 70 point total (which Arteta is yet to match with more money and only 1 game/week) with 2 points off 3rd Took Arsenal to their first European final in 15 years Is only 50 and in the prime of his coaching career
  12. Fook that! JOE KINNEAR!!! Imagine how awesome the pressers would be!!!
  13. You guys must be great at parties... This isn't your daddy's Aston Villa... This is NSWE's Villa!!! NSWE have: Saved us from administration Hired Dean Smith, a lifelong Villa fan, who brought back good feelings and good football to the club and supporters during his 3 seasons with us Got us promoted their first season in charge of the club Kept us up in the Premier League Got a kings ransom for Grealish when he wanted out Backed every manager they've employed so far (Bruce, Smith, and Gerrard) with time and money Invested heavily into the academy and women's team Actually moved forward with plans to rebuild the North stand and expand Villa Park that the past two owners only talked about Gerrard is the only bad decision they've made so far. We'll get it right this time and push up the table. These guys don't mess around. Personally, Mourinho would be my first choice, but he's already in the middle of a similar project at Roma. Any of Poch, Tuchel, or Emery I would be extremely happy with and would signal their intentions to spend big going forward.
  14. Why does it matter? Gerrard is out! Good vibes only in here, bruv!!!
  15. That's the good ole' VillaTalk optimism I've been missing!
  16. You clearly didn't read the tweet or get the joke from @Tom13... It was about Martin Demichelis not Gallardo...
  17. Thank you, Dougie... Signs a new contract and gets Gerrard sacked in the same week. On his way to being a club legend at this rate. One upped Whelan's missed penalty with that red card.
  18. Yeah! Let's follow up Gerrard with a manager that has even less experience... That's a great idea!!!
  19. They thought Gerrard was elite….
  20. Would be the most disappointed by a manager since Eck…. TBH, he would probably surprise us with results but he played the most negative boring “successful” football in Premier League history.
  21. This. If we’re reportedly ready and willing to start to spend big money on a coach’s salary for one of the elite, we have to match that with a massive transfer kitty.
  22. 1 point from relegation with plenty of time to correct the situation. Believe me, you won’t find a more ardent Gerrard Out supporter than I am, but I’m not letting the Gerrard appointment change my opinion of Purslow. Also, to his credit, he did sack Suso for signing a lot of duds that summer. Lange hit big the next summer on Martinez, Cash, Watkins, and Traore and the jury is still out on a lot of last year’s signings because of Gerrard’s hilariously bad tactics and man management.
  23. Mourinho at 35 with two dozen managers who have won fook all over their entire careers ahead of the man who has won everything in Europe? I can't take this list seriously... hahaha
