I think JG really hid the liabilities of Targett. His lack of pace and athleticism are a real problem in the Premier League. Especially for an SG side that wants overlapping FBs. He is just not dynamic or athletic enough to get up and down the touchline. He will magically look better with Newcastle's dynamic LW'er drawing defenders. Hopefully that will trick them into buying him. But the reality is he's not.

What about if we sold Dougie, but then used those funds to help snag Bissouma and Bentancur?

Bissouma is the type of player that would foresee the danger Villa put themselves into when our creative players have the inevitable midfield turnover. He would either intercept the next pass, make the needed tackle, or commit the tactical foul to stop the counter attack that has led to SO MANY soft goals this season. He absolutely would transform us with his presence. We simply don't have a player with that level of footy IQ on the pitch at the moment. When things break down, everyone starts ball watching and becomes reactive. Very few are proactive. Bissouma is proactive.

i really wonder if that early season injury has taken some of his burst or pace this season...and that is why he looks like a 'shadow' of himself? Honestly I never thought Watkins had very quick feet, but he was always a powerful runner who could run for days and outpace players when he got up to speed. This season he does look even slower however.

oh i'm under no illusions its long term. But no surgery and a 3+ month return at the end of the season is much better than ACL surgery and missing all of this season and the start of next season.

I'm just wondering if anyone has found out if surgery was needed or not. That alone would help determine if it was 'season ending' or if he has a chance of returning in the spring.

That will be tough given that Spurs have about 6 available players currently. According to Conte, Spurs have 287843 players and staff with COVID.

positive side is 9 points from 5 games. 1.8 points/game that works out to 68 points over a season... obviously a small sample size, but as many have said, we have only played top3 and mid table sides- so a pretty tough 5 games imo. Frankly the next 4 matches should be 7 points minimum if we continue on this form. That would put us as 26 points after 20 matches, on pace for about 50 points for the season. I see no reason why we cannot surpass that total and challenge 55-60 points. That would put us in the top6-8 running potentially. Just getting us within spitting distance of Europe I think would really light a fire under the players- no reason why we cannot make that jump this season.

last I checked we aren't even playing with 'wingers' under SG. We use two 10's behind Watkins. Ramsey is not playing RW. He's playing more as a RAM behind Watkins. We basically have 5 midfielders in the game.

Based on what I've read about Favre over the past few days (not just the blurb above). He appears to be a solid option given his track record over his career. 1. Develops youth 2. progressive attacking style 3. very detailed and tactically oriented 4. success at getting clubs into Europe
