  1. Yes, a long losing streak is what will get Gerrard sacked. And I’m unhappy about it, I want him gone now to avoid us losing too many games. If by a miracle Gerrard turned it around and won enough games to end on 60 points and avoid getting sacked I would be happy. We all know deep down that it not going to end like that, he will continue his failed formation and we will lose games until the owners have had enough and sack him. I wish he get sacked sooner rather than later.
  2. The race is on. The club with the quickest owners wins the big prize.
  3. Brighton is 4th, by the time we sack Gerrard we would be at the bottom. To get Potter to leave Brighton and come to us, would take a small miracle. I would really love it if we could pull it off, but Pochettino is a more realistic target.
  4. He turned down PSG. Not sure if that means he is aiming higher or looking for “right” job or just don’t want to move. He is one of those very promising managers that have done well in their local league, but not tested in one of the major leagues. I think he would be worth the gamble, if we could convince him to come here.
  5. This feels about the same as when we signed Ings. A good player that we don’t need. There are other positions in the team that urgently need be strengthened first. Also he would have no place in Gerrard’s “tactics”. It would only make sense if Sarr was recommended by our future manager?
  6. The team selection this week was a massive step forward for Gerrard, to be honest I didn’t think he had it in him. Should be an interesting game, hope we win.
  7. It would bring back some hope and belief. Yes, there is always risk with a new manager, to replicate what was successful at one club don’t always work at a different club. But there is too much wrong with Gerrard as a manager, and there are no signs of improvement. His team selection is just strange, players that is tired or out of form, get picked over players that is in form. Since there is no squad rotation, come March/April the team will struggle again. If he get to stay the entire season, we should be satisfied if we don’t get relegated. The thing is that when (not if) Gerrard is fired, it will be the same people that hired Gerrard that will select the next manager. Hopefully they have learned from their mistake and hire Potter.
  8. It would be our better players against a team with a better manager. Will good players with a poor tactic beat average players with good tactic. Or maybe Crystal Palace used up all their luck against Liverpool, so that we could beat them with luck. Crystal Palace is a team that should end up just above the relegation places, and that is where we are too, so it should be an even match.
  9. True, we have the superior squad. There is no excuse not to win this one.
  10. Happy with the win. Our squad is way better then what we have seen in our two matches. We just need something, that could bring the best out of the team. Looking at the upcoming fixture list I can see a lot of pain and unhappiness coming our way if we don’t get that something pretty soon.
  11. That lineup should be a sackable offence. Ings and Watkins don’t work on top. That midfield doesn’t work. I’m almost starting to believe he want us to lose. To get anything from this we need luck, wicked deflection, and the referee on our side.
  12. Marv was in the team when Gerrard was successful in the start. After Marv was injured, it have gone downhill, maybe he should get a chance again. Our midfield can be much worse anyway.
  13. No the minimum for the Everton game is a different starting XI. If Gerrard uses the same XI again on Saturday, he should be sacked, regardless if win or lose. If I was the owner I would have had security throw him out of Villa Park before the match started. If the starting eleven is different and look sensible and balanced, I’m willing to give Gerrard some time, regardless of result. So my wish list for Saturday is a good team sheet and winning the lottery, both equally likely outcomes, since I doesn’t play the lottery and Gerrard is our manager.
  14. Of the three replacement manager often mention, Potter, Rodgers and Pochettino. I think Pochettino would be the one most likely to sign for us. It is said he want to manage in PL again, and it isn’t likely at the moment that a vacancy would would open up in a bigger club than us. Rodgers position in Leicester seems week, he isn’t supported in the transfer market, possible that a lot of top players will be sold and fans want him gone. If we go for Rodgers I think we would get him. Potter is the one I don’t think is least like we would be able to get, maybe that’s why he is my preferred choice. He have a safe job, loved by the fans, and not sure if he would jump ship this early in the season and leave Brighton in a complete mess.
  15. Are you talking about Pep or Jūrgen here? Who else would fit into the category of manager everybody knows can deliver? Potter would be a massive upgrade to what we have, and that would be enough for me. Sure he maybe wouldn’t be everybody’s preferred candidate, but he would at least bring some hope that we could compete with the top.
  16. When SG was hired some was worried he would leave us for Liverpool. Too bad we don’t have to worry about that anymore, it would have been so much better than to worry about when will the owners see the light and sack him. Same with Pochettino, if he is so successful that there is a possibility that a bigger club would want him, we would be in a very happy place.
  17. If we are going to get Potter it would be all about money. More money in his bank account and more money to buy players. We have more potential than Brighton, because of owners with more money. If he get it right he would get more recognition with potential to be considered for even better jobs, but he would have less job security if it doesn’t go well.
  18. Do people think that SG will field an unchanged starting XI against Everton? I do and that is why I have lost hope. Maybe he drops Ings, but I cannot see him make changes that would make a real difference. This would most likely gift Everton 3 points.
  19. Neither Sanson or Mings played on the weekend. If it his “mates” that he pick regarding their form, that want him sacked, he is in real trouble.
  20. Everton is the easiest opposition we face for some time, after that it’s: Crystal Palace (away) West Ham (home) Arsenal (away) Manchester City (home) Leicester (away) Southampton (home) Leeds (away) Nottingham (away) If we lose against Everton and keep SG, I don’t see us getting any points before we play Southampton or Nottingham. Our record is 11 consecutive loses in the premier league, will SG make history.
  21. He have said in interviews that he was a Villa fan in his youth. Any new manager is a risk, but at least with a new manager we can start dreaming of some sort of success. Now it’s a given that we field a lot of players, that should have been on the bench, with a formation that we don’t have the right player for, with no plan on how to break down the opposition. At least we have Aston Villa Women to entertain us until November or whenever the people in charge see the light.
  22. Winnable yes, but not if the starting 11 consists of mostly players that struggled in pre-season with no game plan. I’m seriously concerned that we could end up with zero points after the first 6 games. What then, who would want to take over a mess like that.
  23. I wanted Potter after the sacking of Smith. I’m sure he will do a lot better than SG.
  24. I had hopes, based on the pre-season, but now all we can hope for is that somebody takes action before SG do to much damage to the football club.
