In listening to the most recent 1874 with Dan and GE, I think that I can somewhat understand Evans point. We should not be at a point where we keep players around who will not have a big role with us. I know having the more games with Europe will provide mean we need a slightly bigger squad but sell players who can help us more with FFP than on the pitch.

If Unai / Monchi want him (& think he is attainable), then we should be doing our utmost to get him. I cannot make any judgements on Félix in the PL as he was under the management of an inept coach in Lampard. We saw first-hand how woefully out of form most of our squad got with Gerrard, and Lampard is worse than him. Then how Unai was able to completely change the course last year and got 10x the performances from those same players who were terrible under Gerrard.

yep. I pretty much came here to say the same. If Unai was after him in January, he went to Chelsea over us (still in the CL at the time) and is still interested in getting him this window makes me think that there might be legs to this. and pretty sure I've seen folks saying that that journo is reliable

if we are considering Pau Torres completed, Pino Felix Lo Celso we haven't really been linked with any RBs, which would then be the weak position in our squad

I wouldn't have made McGinn captain last year (i think most of us would not have), and I don't really see McGinn as the true captain of the squad currently. However, we definitely don't need another debacle like Stevie had stripping Mings of the captaincy right before the season, so I don't really see a point in taking it off McGinn to give it to someone else. It would just cause more news and scrutiny on the players.

Southampton's director of football was the head of Man City's academy until January. They had their head of academy recruitment as the DoF last summer before he got poached by Chelsea -
for me it is more that I don't think we have another squad member who is able to do things that Douglas can. When Kamara was out, we were able to get through. I don't see that being the case with Dougie. But Tielemans might persuade me otherwise
