  1. Useless, you are wise and made me laugh. You did not like it when I nominated you, but you liked it when I withdrew the nomination.
  2. Was the interview in French? If so, you are bilingual and I nominate useless for manager !! That seems to be the important criterion. It was in English, although to honest it was more like a few quotes from Houllier rather than an actual interview. I respectfully withdraw my nomination.

  4. Dear Remi, I know it would be great if you could have all the backroom staff you want, but we can't control the decisions of other clubs. If you really want to gain experience as a manager in the Premier League, here's your chance. Now. If you take months trying to get your mates, it will be too late. Start. We can work on some temporary coaches and helps and then see what happens with your old mates contracts. Oh, and here's 30 million to use in January as you see fit. Now let's get this sorted, get you sorted, and get on with progress for you and for this club. Oh, and did I mention that here's 30 million to use in January as you see fit? Sincerely, Anyone with sense.
  5. i just read the thread back up to here and based on the posts here, there is only one conclusion. WE'RE DOOMED !!!!!! p.s. I don't buy it.
  6. huh? called irony, but after i said it we started to look good from set pieces so.... which one was the irony, then?
  7. Only a VT'er can take a positive and turn it into a slam at a player. Classic.
  8. welcome to the VT club, but sorry about your life.
  9. sorry about the crying bit. but envy your being there.
  10. This line-up would not have been my choice, but it might actually make sense. IF the plan is to swing in deep crosses for Rudy to crush into the net. Benteke's favorite crosser of the ball was Bacuna. Amavi does like to get forward. could be Richardson in back with Amavi and Bacuna pinging the ball into the box. Might work if that's the roles they are given and they fill those roles. one indication (since I can't watch) will be the number of corners we get. Amavi and Bacuna are both capable of hitting the first man.
  11. I don't think we know how many players we need because we have seen so few of them utilized well.
  12. OK, if this becomes a whole string of jaz, haz, laz, and maz puns, I'm going back to multi-quoting.
  13. Ahh, well now I feel silly. But at least I finally got the joke....
  14. Trent, i meant gaz711 and nazvfc recently above - just trying to avoid quoting.
  15. i think the truth is somewhere between gaz and naz. We have a huge challenge to avoid the drop. We are in a deep hole and need a dramatic improvement. But we have a solid squad of talented players and if we get the right players in the right formation, playing to their strengths in a cohesive game plan, we have good reason to be optimistic about it. But, there will be some stumbles along the way and we will need to ride those out and stay behind them, because rebuilding confidence is a delicate thing.
  16. You should add a couple more names just to be sure. Well said !!
  17. Has anyone said that is the case? It's pretty obvious when someone is posting just to antagonise. Well I've been called a troll on here just for expressing my view. Far too easy to call somebody a troll imo TROLL ! what do you know, you're right! That was easy.
  18. I think "safe hands" would be disaster. good and steady from this hole will see us relegated. We need a rabbit out of the hat in results. So the old Premier League-stability-producing managers are a terrible idea.
  19. It's all tea leaves at this point. But we also let most of the coaching staff go. That tells me we have a name and he's bringing his staff. Just can't announce it or finalize it yet.
  20. really hard to follow a team in the championship from abroad. I'll still do it because I'm clearly a masochist. But it's very difficult to learn anything, impossible to see a match. Those who hate my comments can be in favor of our relegation because I won't post much here when I can't watch the matches. Maybe that's villa's strategy. They're going down just to get me off VT !!!! Bastards!
  21. Fair enough, but neither is there harm in focusing on what can be done. I'm not disagreeing with Mark, just saying that there's nothing really to be done about that particular problem... the issue behind the issue, unless you know a millionaire or 3. Maybe it's just my personality. I tend to focus on what can be done now to make things better. My boss likes it. Sorry if it sounds like I'm undermining Mark's point or yours, not my intent.
  22. Not every problem has a simple solution. Agreed. Not my point. I didn't assert that Lerner hasn't been a problem. It's just that we have several problems. The Lerner one is one we can't solve, but the solution is being pursued (club is for sale). The other one, the current manager, can be solved. I hope Lerner and crew do it soon. It's a matter of pragmatics to urge that we fix (moan about) what can be fixed rather than moan about the other.
  23. I would do something similar, perhaps the biggest changes would be that I think Ayew offers more than Gabby and Sinclair ahead of Traore. Instructions to Ayew would be, move. make runs, create space in the back four, the midfield will hit you on many, or capitalize on the space you create. Instructions to sinclair would be to push up as a second forward when we have possession.
  24. The problem with this post is that it gives no solution. in some sense, the man at the top is always responsible. (at least that's what Tim says). Randy has said he wants out and put others in charge and has put us up for sale. not sure what we can do about that unless you have a few million sitting around to buy us with. Tim on the other hand can be changed. moaning about things that can't be changed is pretty pointless. moaning about a manager that is clearly getting nothing close to the potential out of the team is much more positive. BTW, happy birthday to your Father in law, hope he had a good 60th.
  25. Actually, can anybody explain to me, what was our plan?
