  1. I don't think ED has refused to work with SNP - What he is saying is that he put his Labour policies forward - and the SNP either agree - or effectivley endorse a Tory minority Govt. (Thats why Sturgeon IMO isn't sitting that pretty) I don't see Boris as leader of the Tory party - short term he would be very popular - but IMO would make to may gaffe's and it 'im only joking' tag line would get irksome very quickly. Osborne or May more serious candidates IMO.
  2. Do you know I almost agree with you. But of couple of the early reponses were 'great interview' and 'theres going be increased investment' My initial point was there is nothing in that interview to suggest a significant upturn in our fortunes. TF can talk targets all he likes - unless he does something to hit such targets its all pie in the sky.
  3. What's spin about it? OK perhaps not spin. But he really hasn't said anything has he ? Theres not one change, initative, or any real reason why next season the club will be any different to what it is now ? Really? He mentions increasing revenue by £10m a season that's a massive initiative Having Sherwood as a manger and aiming to be the best of the rest is a massive change to where we are now. I think you can say that to achieve top 10 they'll have to be investment so I'm not sure what you want him to say. He's outlined what he wants to do and how he aims to raise revenues to help us do it isn't that his job in a nutshell? I read about increasing revenue - I missed the bit about how this was going to happen Doug always used to aspire to us being champions - without ever putting anything in place to make it happen. TF is aiming for 7th (no problem with that) - but other than saying it - whats he doing to make it happen ? Sherwood as manager - well somebody has to be the manager - and TF would probably say the same about any manager. If its a new dawn for you then great - personally I am expecting us to be much where we are now in 12 months time... Did you also miss the bit about our global audience? We are the 9th most watch team in the world even more so than Bayern! That's a fact that'll sway sponsorship. It's simple we increase revenue streams and get better deals than currently added into the new TV money means we can invest more in the team. Add that to a manager who on his form granted it's a limited time would see us top 10 you can see there's hope to be had. Every new manager is a new dawn only time will tell if it's a false one so I'd enjoy this while you can rather than waiting for disaster then being happy you was right! Yes I did read that. - But I wouldn't agree with your assumption that it will lead to massivley bigger sponsorhip deals - if we suddenley start announcing ground breaking deals - then I hold up my hands and congratulate TF - but I didn't see any such announcements. I wouldn't get your hopes up to much about us being the 9th most watched club in the world. Im sure its true by some measure - but in practice it doesn't mean we will be rubbing shoulders with Bayern any time soon. [all IMO of course] Too set in your ways to acknowledge or appreciate any change the club makes. You've made your bed and will lie in it, being negative regardless of what happens. Wheres the change ? Sadly .....this

  7. Really ? I actually think Sturgeon is the fool. She has ruled out doing anything with the Tories and will back labour to keep them out. Thus she has no brgaining power with EM - By and large she sticks to her words and blocks the tories - thus making EM prime minister. - Or she does a complete U turn - doesn't back Labour - thus probably handing Cameron minority rule. ED doesn't really have to do anything. I think Sturgeon could be this years Nick Clegg - looking incrediby smug and smart before the election - then looking a complete fool after it.
  8. The takeover could have happened and Tom Fox wouldn't know about it - he barley knows what day it is ! Based on what? I do like a barley cordial. Condemed by your own hand. If you were a true Villa fan you would drink budweiser.
  9. Yep - he's done everything right - Damm that League Table.
  10. The takeover could have happened and Tom Fox wouldn't know about it - he barley knows what day it is !
  11. Wow - its enough to make you walk to villa park on your hands and buy 10 season tickets ! Same old same old - recycled spin - (i know one poster who will be impressed though !)
  12. That is a big blow for Southampton no doubt....their results usually dip when he dosen't play. I also see Alderwielder is playing with an injury. At the same time though you've got to think Pelle, Mane with Tadic and Long as subs is going to cause Sunderland's back 4 all sorts of issues. I'll give Sunderland a draw in that one. West Ham is a massive one for me. If both us and Sunderland draw this weekend, then the following weekend Sunderland actually play Everton away at 12.45 so we'll know at kick off what their result is. If they lose and we win the gap will be 5 points with 3 games left. Sunderland would then need to win one of Chelsea/Arsenal away and they'd also need us not to pick up another point from the final two games. That's why I'm not panicking if we don't win this weekend, I don't think a point would be a disaster. I will however be getting worried if we can't beat West Ham at home. My concern is if we don't win this weekend - and one two results go against us - panic mode could set in - where as a win this weekend would give us breathing space, and an unfortunate injury to Vlaar \Benteke wouldn't screw us over - the way it would should we loose.
  13. Just done the predictor (a few times) - one time I had us not winning another game , but drawing with Wham, Southampton, Burnley - we still stayed up !!!
  14. Yes - a much hidden part of the Hutton report into pensions - said that whilst public sector pensions are better - it shouldn't become a race to the bottom (ie make private pensions better - not public sector pensions worse) Unfortunatley it fell on deaf on ears - I now pay an extra £50 per month - and don't get my pension until 6 years later (quite why I have to pay more - when the scheme is almost £2bn in profit is beyond my understanding) - Sadly as a consequence a lot of people especially the younger ones are now pulling out of the pension scheme - meaning they will be reliant on that state come pensionable age !!!!!
  15. is that any different to the industry where the Unions had things sown up and outsiders couldn't get in ? I guess its very similar, in the past. Does that still happen? Or have we had a one way correcting of something that was unfair on both sides? It's also not something I experienced. When I've been a member of a union, it's stopped people being sacked without good reason to give jobs to those that would do them cheaper. So my personal experience of union membership was wholly good. But I accept that wasn't universal. I am not currently in a union and don't currently feel those that are have any unfair advantage over me. The golf club and the old school tie still have an advantage over me. you do know how much a London underground driver gets paid don't you ... it's clear that their Union are giving them an unfair advantage , the top earners are rumoured to be getting paid in excess of £50,000 ( torygraph even states £65k) ... I'm not belittling tube drivers , but is that really a job that deserves to be paid double what a band 5 nurse earns ( Nurses being the currency that everything gets measured by since 2010 ) I spent years contracting at a couple of investment banks , when I started it was very much old school and institutionalised ..by the time I left most of the people were even more common and uneducated than me I can't beleive a tube driver is on £50k* is this from the same source that say people who stack shelves at ASDA get £20ph - or that a plumber gets £70k..... Excepting those redoployed on protected salary.
  16. No they weren't unless you were talking about the nazi skinheads not the two tone skinheads. The were the ant racist / Specials / 2 Tone Skins who were on the same "side" as the mods and the Nazi Skins who were on the opposite side to humanity. YMMV But the skinheads of 80's were the boot boys - and a good National Front element - any many sported 'I hate mods' badges. In between were the 'Rude Boys' skinheads in two tone suits & loafers - historically these were allies to the mods - but in the 80's they were more alligned to the skinheads. As a Mod I remember a very uncomfortable night at a madness concert in the Odeon. My run in's with Skinheads in the 80's were much more commonplace, than the Mods supposed arch enemy the rockers - who mostly just laughed at me on my Vespa 90 ! All this based on Living in Northfield - which always had a thriving skinhead population, Northcross, Leyhill, and Overspill from the Quiton and Brandhall groups...
  17. Seriously guys - you can get 20 months interest free purchases credit cards (ive just ordered a clydesdale one) - no fees and just set up a DD to clear the debt at a level suitable to yourself....
  18. I really hope Sherwoods big idea for next season is a bit more than promoting our reserves and gung ho football - whilst both sound fine in theory - in practice it would be a recipe for disaster.
  19. I think a win on saturday would be a massive boost - It would give us a bit of breathing space and a margin for error - I fear going into the latter games on a knife edge
  20. F..n hate this shite....we shouldn't be here season after season - relegation battles are for the noses........ Barring a takeover though - I'm not thrilled at our prospects for next season....
  21. What weather would be best for us v Everton - Im thinking cold drizzle - might make em wish they weren't here ?
  22. Would the best result Leicester V Newcastle be a draw ? - or are we saying Leicester are more likley to stay up any how - so lets see if Newcastle get dragged in ?
  23. Not aimed at you in particular - but why can you take any comfort from that ? - I'm not saying you're wrong - but he's been gone almost 3 months and relegation is still a distinct possibility Im just saying that under Sherwood we are still more than likely to stay up and comparing the difference between the 2 different managers. Our last 3 games we have: Beat Spurs away Beat the scousers at Wembley Very unfortunate to lose to the champions on their own patch, we would have won if it were not for a disgraceful decision by the officials. Also, Newcastle could well be dragged into this yet, they are **** awful. Ah right - we were unfortunate against Man City ? - why on earth didn't some one tell me ...... Lets just hope were not unfortunate against Everton, coming to think of it we were unfortunate against Stoke\Swansea\Newcastle - somebody call the FA and get them to shift us the table a bit - be unfortunate if we got relegated... Can't help but feel you're simply on the wind up. Surely it's not hard to see that the better the performance the better the likelihood of collecting points? Obviously luck plays a part, which has gone against us in a few occasions but there is next to no chance that if we keep playing how we have, continually being the better team, we'll fail to pick up points. But thats my whole point - shipping goals negates the good performance.
