  1. Anyone else think Bannan will be a Utd target after this weekend?
  2. Sorry I just read you're unlocked. Just plug it into Kies and it should update to Froyo.
  3. You can just load a non branded firmware on a locked sgs. Check the xda dev forums.
  4. That does sound pretty cool. My tasker automatically turns my phone onto silent when I'm on the work based on the cellphone tower. I've got it set to within 500m which seems to be accurate enough. Then between 11.30pm and 6.30am it's on silent and no vibrate so it doesn't bother me with anything. Although I could just set it to flight mode instead. Finally, when it's connected to the car's bluetooth it disables WiFi, stops the screen from timing out and locking, and turns on GPS. I've set them as temporary settings so they revert as soon as it's disconnected from that bluetooth client. You can literally do anything with it. There are numerous examples online of people who do some really complicated stuff but the 3 items above are fine for me.
  5. It looks like just an IPSec VPN so yes it's built in to the OS.
  6. Check for emails Can't remember the last time I checked for emails. Probably about 1796.
  7. This is my list http://www.appbrain.com/user/dirk1978/ My favourites are these: Halloween Live Wallpaper. Get it now for Halloween. Brilliant live wallpaper. Tweetdeck. Best social networking app anywhere ever. Of course everyone needs Angry Birds. Great Launcher to replace Touchwiz. Look at LauncherPro too. Winamp. Just as brilliant as I remember it. But of course I like all 125 for different reasons
  8. Yes but it doesn't look that big on the phone
  9. I'll blow my load if it is. That's why it can't be. It's just too good of an idea for any corporate to have thought about it. It also amounts to Samsung admitting they're shit at software. BTW, this is my desktop: For anyone who doesn't know about the power of Android over something like the iPhone, take the shortcuts you can have for example, these are the 3 down the right hand side: 1. Direct Contact shortcut to get access to phones, mail, social etc. of a single contact direct from the desktop 2. Direct shortcut to direct me home using Google Nav. Name it anything you like and set any options you want on it. 3. Folders: Loads of shortcuts to dynamic folders direct on the desktop, this one being all contacts with phone numbers. Obviously this is a whole extra layer of functionality on top of what iOS can do, to do any of those 3 you have to do a lot more tapping, and these are just 3 examples. iOS has only just got wallpaper and grouped apps, which shows the massive difference in functionality.
  10. I'm really glad Webb is the ref in this one. Hopefully see a couple of their players go when they start trying to kick our better players.
  11. Glad I bought an unlocked Galaxy S 16GB now. I reckon it'll be the old Galaxy S Pro, same as the i9000 but with a QWERTY and hopefully a flash. I'll gladly sell my i9000, pay £100 on top and get one.
  12. Yes, he's great at imposing himself on games. He's actually very good at closing down and adding a bit of physicality into midfield. Exactly what we need now.
  13. Halsey is the one thing that's gonna hamper us coming back into this. He's giving ridiculous free-kicks but not obvious ones.
  14. 1-2 to us in the end. We were playing better than them and the goal should kick us up the arse. Superb defending by Warnock then.
  15. How far behind am I?! Warnock is still playing on my stream. Oh ****, Dunne has reverted to form.
  16. Beye playing well, Heskey a monster, NRC good passing. Everyone else struggling to settle.
  17. Warnock has had a couple slipped past him from Malbranque. He's not getting murdered at all.
  18. Really? Were you drunk? Carew wasn't nearly as bad as most are saying, and I don't remember Delfouneso actually touching the ball Carew was pretty bad. I'm not the biggest Delfouneso fan but he was OK, he did have a few decent touches.
  19. Not read any of the other posts so I don't get tainted and this is how I saw it from the very corner of the Trinity. Friedel - 8 - Did everything he had to perfectly and was absolutely rock solid even with an unfamiliar 4 in front of him. Closed down brilliantly when they were through a few times and made one fantastic save. Very confident with kicking etc. Beye - 7 - An extra point because he hasn't played for a while and was dropped in the deep end. Committed himself too quickly into challenges a few times which left us open but was positionally sound. Collins - 9 - Covered for everyone else and had to lead the inexperienced Clark beside him. Couple of magnificent blocks as is usually the case. Clark - 8 - Slightly shaky at times but did very well considering the occasion and having no preparation time. Very confident in possession and uses the ball well. A clean sheet against Chelsea is no mean feat. Warnock - 9 - Tied with 2 others for MOTM. Committed, dangerous when attacking, solid when defending. You'd pick the wrong England LB from that showing. Young - 6 - Not especially effective. Tried hard but ultimately came up against a good RB who he couldn't get the better of. Ref accused him of diving early on and he was whinging a lot after that. Reo-Coker - 7 - Solid, stopped their midfield on the edge of our box which he was there for. Looked nicely comfortable in possession and showed some nice touches. Unfortunately we also saw some of the old NRC with some pretty poor passes and that 1 on 1 near the end was really bad, to force the keeper to make a save is one thing but to just run it straight into him is not good. Petrov - 9 - Tied for MOTM. Really had a point to prove and put his body on the line on a number of occasions. Tireless, worked hard and didn't waste a pass all night. Downing - 9 - So, so impressed with Downing tonight. So confident and direct, the only one who would actually take a full back on and got the better of him quite a few times. Went in hard a few times to show people he isn't afraid to get a knock. I actually think he's faster than Gabby. Ireland - 8 - Nice touches, made some stuff happen and showed promise. Hope he continues to flourish in the hole when he can get a bit more space. Carew - 5 - It's not that he didn't try, he obviously did but he looks a crock. He looks like he can't run and doesn't have the greatest of touches these days. Sidwell and Delfouneso both did alright, the game was petering out by the time both came on anyway. Houllier - 8 - The perfect tactics to nullify the strong Chelsea midfield and subs at the right time. It's like MON taught the players how to be well-organised and solid and now Houllier is bringing the flair out. I'm really impressed with how much more comfortable everyone is on the ball and how we pass and move really well. Pretty soon we're gonna destroy some unlucky team.
  20. Yeah branded SGS owners will be having to wait just like every other branded phone. Although it's fairly easy to flash a standard ROM on a Galaxy S so it may motivate the carriers a bit. I've been using Froyo for about 2 months on my SGS. As you'd expect each one gets a bit better each time, I'm currently on JPM and the official release that seems to be going out to Scandinavia today is JP6 which apparently is a bit better still. I'm gonna put it on in a minute. GPS is sorted and has been for a long time. Not had a single problem with any version with WiFi (and not heard of anything either??) but lag is still there and will be until Samsung ditch RFS on the MoviNAND flash. All you have to do is root it and install OCLF from the market which creates an ext2 image file inside RFS and bind mounts it as /data. It absolutely rockets along then. The worrying thing is, it's quite obvious to everyone (including Samsung) that all they have to do is just use ext4 and suddenly lag is gone. Apparently CM6.1 will just use ext4 on the MoviNAND and keep RFS on the OneNAND which will be fine. Errr yeah. Froyo, ace.
