  1. Nope. As Conor says, change it to on demand. Apple are right to not have Flash as it's crap, but Apple are also wrong not to have Flash as it's bloody useful. I think the Android way of supporting it but allowing you to only choose when it's enabled is a good idea.
  2. Oh look Conor, a top of the range smart phone without an Amoled screen. It must be shit then I suppose? I'm sure it will be brilliant. It just won't have the best screen technology.
  3. Have you changed plugins to on-demand?
  4. The only real problems I still see in our play are quite easy to fix and they are: 1. Inviting pressure so easily by taking a long easy ball out. There was an instance right near the end at 2-1 where CC hit a lazy long ball which got intercepted and we were suddenly under pressure and it was almost inevitable that they would score but thankfully they didn't. There's always a better ball than an aimless long one, unless there's someone making a good run, or it's too much of a decent space to run into etc. 2. Going wide when there's no need and handing the ball off too early. Lot's of times when one of our players has a large space to run into, and build up a head of steam to run at a defender, they'll lay it off to someone and any momentum is lost. If there's a space to run into, run into it! Other little things are, take Ashley off dead ball duty and put him on the edge of the box, go back to MON's style of zonal marking at corners, and don't run into blind alleys on the touchline where the ball could go backwards a little and moved across the field into space.
  5. I think Brunt is a cracking player and I'd like to see us go for him in January.
  6. If they start to outplay us in midfield I'd like to see NRC on to replace Hogg. I'm yet to be convinced about Hogg.
  7. I don't want to score points and I'm not a grammar-nazi. I physically squirm when I read anyone's post where they don't know the difference between 'of' and 'have', and I don't think I'm the only one. It's completely up to AVFC-POB if they choose to ignore my advice or not, but to me it's the equivalent of writing all in capitals or putting 'LOL!!1!one!' at the end of every sentence. I'm only trying to be helpful and I'd just like to be able to read TOP's posts. This is a debate for another thread so I'll not say any more about it and apologise if any offence was caused, as it was meant in the best possible way.
  8. If I had paid I would I have heard nothing but bad reviews of the free version. I can't remember the last time I used CoPilot. I bought it about 2 years ago for £25 and it was nice until Google Maps had Navigation, which rendered it utterly pointless. If you have 2.2 and the app doesn't support 2.2 then you can't really blame the OS, you blame the app developers. It's your choice if you want to get the apps through other means but in this case if you had paid you'd be able to email ALK and express your displeasure. I didn't think you could even run it without it checking your Google Checkout receipt anyway.
  9. Ah hang on a mo. On the Iphone you could setup Gmail as an exchange server and you would receive push email. I have tried to set it up the same way on the Desire.....is this not possible? Thanks for the info C & D. I will have a look later at the wiki page. That was something I was amazed at with the iPhone. To get GMail set up on it you had to add it as an Exchange server. An Exchange server is nothing like GMail so it seemed really odd. If you put your Google account in to the phone, it will automatically set up your GMail, Contacts, Calendar etc. sync including GMail push.
  10. No offence meant in any way mate but could you please not use 'of' when it should be 'have'. Then I'll be able to read your posts again and you probably talk a lot of sense. Anyway, I think to be a successful manager you absolutely can't overreact. If 2 quality CB's suddenly start to drop form then it's wise to give them a few games to pick it up. The time to give up and switch it around is probably about now.
  11. 1. Just the Tasker wiki, but there's load there: http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index 2. Good question. I believe you will receive the O2 updates, as long as they know which phone you have to push them to you. 3. Gmail or Exchange?
  12. Is that really how bad videos are on an iPhone?!
  13. I've been going backwards and forwards all over the place. I'm currently on official JPO but with a custom kernel and no-RFS lagfix. I find the best combination of speed and stability (ie rock solid) is to: Obviously back up first if you're rooted with My Backup Pro, Titanium etc., use Appbrain to sync. Get the Odin package for JPO and flash it using Odin (normally included in the zip for JPO). http://www.multiupload.com/VGRN7K0JT6 Then flash a speedmod kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756 as just the PDA part in Odin. Then boot in recovery, choose to clear data, cache, etc and then enable no-RFS advanced (all = ext4) lagfix. Then do advanced install superuser. Install Appbrain and follow through the install for all apps, restore your backup of SMS, settings, etc.
  14. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813999 You just need to have rooted the phone. There are 2 files to copy in place using root explorer and you're done.
  15. Hmm iNAND you say? Makes me wonder if the cause of the delay was Google spotting the lag and telling Samsung to ditch moviNAND for Android devices due to filesystem sync issues causing lag. I'm not bothered about NFC either, can't see me being able to use it unless Tesco and all petrol stations suddenly start doing wireless payments. It'd be cool then.
  16. Yeah, there are some bits slightly odd. I'll get one because I just want a purely open handset and don't want to have to battle against whatever Samsung do with ROMs in future. The lack of external SD is puzzling. Looks like Google still haven't fixed >1 SD card support in Gingerbread. Samsung hacked it in themselves. Dimensions / weight - not too worried as long as it's not massively different. But the curved screen looks awesome so it will be slightly bigger due to that. I'd question any difference whatsoever in the battery life as they both have almost identical hardware. Although the NFC chip will have to be powered continuously, but then there are a lot of Samsung own services that won't be running. I'd prefer Bluetooth 2.1 rather than 3.0. 3 causes me problems with my car stereo and i get no benefits at all. Don't use TV-out although I feel like I probably should. Don't use swype anymore. The Samsung keyboard is awful, so I've installed the default Froyo keyboard (and now the Gingerbread version) which are delightful to use. Price is surprising. It's a LOT more in the UK than it sells for in the US so I'll be waiting to see what happens with the price before I splash out. I can't see CPW being able to sell enough for that price so I'm sure it will come down.
  17. Don't agree with a few there so here's mine: Friedel - 6 - Couldn't do too much more. Young - 5 - Standard Luke Young. Albrighton didn't give him enough cover to get forward. Collins - 2 - What's happened James? Dunne - 1 - Even worse. Warnock - 5 - Fairly well committed. Didn't do a lot wrong. Downing - 7 - Best player on the pitch by a distance. Hogg - 3 - Not going to make it at this level. Tries hard but doesn't have the quality. Osborne. Clark - 4 - A decent CH. Not a midfielder. Albrighton - 4 - Not match fit. Ireland - 5 - Has obvious quality but always a luxury player. Agbonlahor - 4 - Doesn't work as a single CF. Carew - 2 - Pointless Delfouneso - 5 - Tried hard. He's looking better. Will end up in the championship. Pires - 3 - Obviously supremely talented and experienced but can't move so is only half a player. If Randy allows Houllier to spend £60m in January and we pay over the odds for a few players then we can turn it around but we need to get Collins and Dunne out, Clark and Cuellar in, and we desperately need Heskey and Petrov back. Really angry tonight because we were the architects of our own downfall. There was no reason to keep giving free-kicks away and put us on the back foot from the start. No-one showing for throws, poor decisions, giving the ball away stupidly all the time was rubbish. I hope Gerard is embarrassed on his return to his beloved Anfield.
  18. Players I would keep from that team for the next game: Downing
  19. How can anyone watch what Android can do these days and say iOS comes anywhere close? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxUXulxE5o0
  20. Been waiting for this as my Christmas present. Features look great. http://www.google.com/nexus/#!/features Gingerbread features: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3-highlights.html I think the best thing is the lower-level API which means games will be more on par with iPhone
  21. I don't see why the lightness is an issue to people? I love the fact that its so light. The iphone seems like carrying a brick around compared to it. Galaxy S - 119 grams Desire - 135 grams iPhone 3gs - 135 grams iPhone 4 - 137 grams Desire HD - 164 grams The difference in weight between a Galaxy S and an iPhone is hardly noticeable, no? I'm genuinely shocked at those figures as the SGS does feel about half the weight of an iPhone 3GS / 4 to me.
  22. A couple of the people at work are quite disappointed with their Desires. One is due to some network bug with Vodafone that HTC can't fix and it's been back for numerous repairs and the other is just not impressed with Android and has gone back to an iPhone 3G due to the simplicity. Takes all sorts I suppose But the 2 others around me who have Desires absolutely love them.
  23. Isn't the CL and Europa League UEFA and nothing to do with FIFA? I'm sure if David Cameron and Price William felt particularly aggrieved at this pleb Blatter undermining them it wouldn't take many phone calls to European states' governments before a new independent European ruling body was announced. The rest of the World wouldn't like to be playing in competitions without European teams so would very quickly be happy to negotiate their own subsidiaries.
  24. You do get Orange data too. When you sign up on the T-Mobile site they tell you to enable data roaming in your phone's APN settings. I've done that and get Orange data but it's pants compared to T-Mobile.
  25. My own views on the networks: Orange: The worst of the lot, decent GSM coverage but very poor 3G and terrible (apparently) customer service. Vodafone: Mainly business network but not very good 3G coverage. O2: Utterly awful data coverage. My mate didn't realise the G on his iPhone meant GPRS, he thought it meant 3G because he'd never seen 3G on O2. T-Mobile: Superb. Get very strong HSPDA almost everywhere I go. No data cap (fair use only) and great online portal. Now they're merged with Orange you can use Orange networks too. I was with Orange for years and went onto T-Mobile 2 years ago. I've been nothing but impressed. Many times I've used my phone as a wifi hotspot with 4 people connecting over my 3G heavily using data and it's been brilliant. Our work has changed from Vodafone to T-Mobile for dongles because of the difference in 3G performance. I always found it quite funny that whenever I'm sat on the train outside the O2 HQ in Slough, I have to let O2 users tether through my phone over T-Mobile 3G to get data.
