  1. Not sure that's the most sensible.. Nah, nor me. But they're all attacking-minded players and would want to get forward at every opportunity. The best form of defence is attack.
  2. Friedel Walker Collins Dunne Clark Albrighton NRC Downing Young Bent Delfouneso 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 with Young and Downing rotating. Gerratem
  3. Needs to be a bit cheaper IMO. But apparently meant to be an amazing experience, reviews I've read have said it's the best 3d experience you can get.

Just found it...... 15 Jan - dirk1978 - @db11tt Have you by any chance just been followed by a load of Villa fans? @db11tt Yea C'est moi. Getting hassle about it now too. People saying it's proof Villa tapped him up. I just saw some speculation on here, asked him if Villa fans had started following him and he said yeah. That doesn't constitute tapping up, especially as I've no official ties to the club. Although if they wanted to invite me upstairs I wouldn't say no.
  5. Any bones you can drop? Anything as big as this? All the ones we've known about so far or some surprises? Cheers MM!
  6. err, thanks. Although I've been a supporter for a lon... oh.
  7. I was at the Sunderland game couple of weeks back and I decided to watch Bent closely as I wanted to see how he could have such a goal scoring record without being as flash as someone like Rooney or Torres, and even though he didn't have a great game, every time the ball went near him he looked dangerous. He's a bit like Defoe in the way he'll be able to get a snap shot off before anyone can close him down and can generate a lot of power without much back lift. He had a good few shots on our goal which were good, powerful shots but Dunne and Collins managed to keep him fairly quiet. As long as we don't get the finisher but sell the supply line we'll be great. Those pull-backs and centres will have someone to get on the end of them now. Gabby and Heskey both come too deep, which is why our wingers have the most goals this season, as balls have to go to the back post. Good times!
  8. Apparently at BMH now having a medical. Does this normally mean terms have been pre-arranged?
  9. I look away for 5 mins! 1400 in Quadrant is fine. Anything faster isn't any actual speed increase, it's just fooling Quadrant into thinking it's reading and writing faster than it actually is because of a loopback buffer. To get the best all round experience I found I used the hardcore speedmod kernel, did the standard all=ext4 lagfix then enabled all tweaks from the tweak menu. Don't factory reset unless it won't boot or you get lots of force-closes. Didn't try anything but CM or lag-fixed stock ROMs.

  11. Darren I understand what you mean about the manufacturer 'improved' versions of things but I never see much improvement over the stock Android stuff. The Samsung media player was nice with the CD circle etc. but apart from that doesn't do a lot more than stock. Same with SMS and dialler, with my SGS I always found myself longing for the stock ones, because they perhaps didn't look as nice or didn't have extra features but worked nicely. Gingerbread has lots of improvements under the bonnet. The NS is absolutely lightning because of the concurrent garbage collections in the Java VM now. Visually not loads different though. 2 different ways of looking at it I suppose, but I'm really happy with my NS, then again I'm a fiddler
  12. One way of looking at the Nexus S is that as it's released, a few months later, newer phones will be released which will supersede it. Another way of looking at it is that it's still right now the top hardware available. SAMOLED / 1GHz Hummingbird / SGX540 is still the best around until the next wave of phones are available. So the same as the Galaxy S, which is a top phone but marred by Samsung software and their ability to bugger anything up with crap software. Even now you still have to lagfix the Galaxy S. But Nexus phones aren't about being the phone with the top specs. It's a Google showcase, it's meant to be lean and fast and completely and utterly open. It's the first phone with Gingerbread and it will be the first with Honeycomb and so forth, but with generic, non-branded, fully-optimised builds from Google. It's not Samsung's view of how to build a phone, it's not HTC's, or Vodafones etc. It's yours. I can plug my phone in to my computer and install whatever OS I want unrestricted. In fact, Google encourage you to try out different Android builds. So for me, I don't care that the hardware will be out of date fairly soon, I only care that I'm on the Nexus path and I'll get a smooth, stable experience with no manufacturer or operator crap bundled and I'll be in complete control of it. That's gotta be worth a lot more than a 1.2GHz SAMOLED+ phone or a dual-core Tegra that won't actually do anything more than the Nexus, but will be stuck on old versions of Android for years..
  13. The only other external one is swiftkey but I've never tried it. You can push the Froyo stock keyboard, it's still my favourite. But you need to be rooted.
  14. Yep, same here. Me and my mate were listening to WM in the car with all the wound-up callers and we were looking at each other confused, wondering how they could slate us so much when we didn't play that bad.
  15. I literally disagree with every single one of your points. Thought you might But it's my opinion. I reserve the right to have one.
  16. I think if we get rid now, then it's a greater risk than keeping him. This self-fulfilling prophecy of us going down is a bit ridiculous. If we actually got behind the team and gave them a bit of motivation perhaps it might lift them a bit. Villa Park was like a morgue tonight. And yes, if we'd have won, there would have been chants of GH's claret & blue army next match. Tonight doesn't change a lot. We came up against a solid team and the result would have been exactly the same last season. We will win some and we will lose some, but the major difference last season was the air of positivity masking the problems with players' technique and technical ability.
  17. So much to disagree with here, so little motivation to type. Firstly, we played pretty good considering Sunderland were very effective on closing players down quickly and not giving any players time to look up and pick a pass. But there were some horrid head-shaking moments: * Every time Cuellar overlapped in the first half and got into space heading towards the line he would stop and go backwards - extremely frustrating when all he had to do was run into the penalty area, cross it and it would cause them problems. * All of the players don't seem to know what to do. They absolutely are desperate to win, hence the altercations going on all game. They're just low on confidence and are trying too hard. They're used to playing very direct and are confused because they're obviously under instruction to attempt to keep possession more rather than just drive on. Heskey was an animal today. He was really fired up and just boiled over. But about 5 minutes before he got sent off, Bramble fouled him, which was definitely worth a yellow. Once the ref had realised it would be a sending off he changed his mind (you could see his hand move away from his pocket) and told him off instead. Which brings me onto the ref. What a complete and utter idiot. The whole ground was singing 'you're not fit to referee' which was quite fitting because out of any of them recently he's been the worst. Utterly, utterly inept. Where do we get them from? The onslaught at the end. I thought it was great. The final ten mins after Zenden walked we stuck all the big lads in their box, and had Ashley Young dropping it onto their heads. It was route 1 but it was effective and almost got us something at the end. Houllier should have made subs earlier, and should have realised quickly that Gabby on the wing wasn't working. Downing was superb in the first half and most of the 2nd. Him and Heskey were our best players. Petrov had a shocker. Collins did very well against Bent, who is absolutely brilliant.
  18. Well having this 'success' under MON has meant whatever manager came in next would be subject to intense pressure and anything below what we achieved under the aforementioned would just not be acceptable to some fans. Why should it be? I am not saying it should be, I'm simply saying anything below 6th and cup runs, even if we finished 8th it would be deemed not good enough I don't agree actually, I think the vast majority would have accepted a little going backwards to go forwards. What they've not been willing to accept is how far (at this moment in time) we appear to have gone back and how quickly. But the current situation looks far worse than it actually is because of everyone beating everyone else at the bottom of the table. Would 10th have been good enough this season? In 2 games we could realistically be 12th, and we've had a hard run of games. To me we have gone a little bit backwards to go forwards. We've had a few abject performances, but I honestly believe we will be fighting for Europe at the end of this season if Houllier is still in charge. Bring someone else in now and we risk never having chance to get going.
  19. If you use an auto task killer, uninstall it. Let Android sort itself out. Put the power widget on the home screen and turn BT, wifi and GPS off unless when you need to use them. Keep the screen as dim as possible - the screen is the main draw. Charge fully using the mains every night. Don't fiddle too much
