  1. Got it right today and let down by the lack of quality in attacking positions. We got into promising positions and couldn’t create a real chance. Liverpool have the ability to score at any time against any opposition. We look completely toothless and I’m not sure that there’s any way of solving that issue with the players at his disposal.
  2. I think I’d do Samatta for Davis now. No guarantee it’ll change much but I think it’s worth a try.
  3. I’m not sure I agree with this. We’ve generally been ok since the restart but have shown next to no quality going forwards and have bad mistakes in us at the back. We’ve again shown no real quality going forwards to suggest we’re going to score a goal and I wouldn’t rule out defensive errors. For me all we’re confirming today is that the squad doesn’t have the quality to win many games of football at this level.
  4. Why are pundits some of the most miserable people in the world? They’re getting paid a lot of money to watch games of football. Souness on the villa game today is embarrassing. Any chance to have a moan about one thing or another and he takes hit.
  5. Reina’s distribution is causing issues here. We can’t afford to just keep giving them the ball and he had every time.
  6. Trezeguet and Davis showing why we’re in the position we are. We just lack quality in 2 or 3 key positions when we’re on top of games.
  7. El Ghazi looking bright at the start here. Got to feel for him when he gets to the byline and sees one player in the box with the goal scoring record that Davis has.
  8. I don’t think anybody would have too much issue with the goal if Leeds bad just kept playing and scored. The fact that the guy faked putting the ball out and then carried on playing means that the goal, while fine by the rules, was morally wrong. I’d like to think any team would make the choice Leeds did in similar circumstances.
  9. How were we made to look stupid in the league cup final? We played one of the best teams in the world and lost by one goal. One of their goals was scored from a corner that was never a corner in the first place. Their keeper made an outrageous save to avoid the game going to extra time. Sometimes when I read some of the things on here I wonder what people expect and start to see where this impression other fans have of Villa fans being entitled comes from.
  10. Did you watch the West Ham game as attacking is certainly not a word I’d use to describe their performance. They sat back as we did and looked to counter. The fact that they have far better players than us made it much more successful. Having said that if Samatta had scored his sitter against Chelsea and had Trezeguet done better with his chance then we could have achieved a similar result.
  11. Yes he was absolutely dreadful. Looked completely past it. I don’t think Nyland is very good but I don’t doubt for one minute that Reina is worse. If Steer was fit or if he threw Sarkic in for a game I’d understand that but dropping Nyland for Reina would not be a good decision for me.
  12. To be fair he did play him when he first came but he’s absolutely crap to the point that he was genuinely worse than Nyland. Another one for the list of dreadful signings made this season.
  13. This is the thing for me. Our squad is laughably bad to the point where I’m not convinced anybody could get much more out of them than we’re seeing now. Davis, Hourihane, Nyland and Hause weren’t good enough in the championship. I don’t think Trezeguet or Nakamba will prove to be good enough for the Championship. I don’t see any lack of effort in this lot, they’re just simply nowhere near the level that’s needed to stay in the league. I’d actually be thinking about playing some of the kids at this point. That’s not even to give them experience or anything. I just genuinely don’t think they can be any worse than some of those starting games at the moment.
  14. This group of players is just nowhere near good enough. We could play at the top of our game every week and we still wouldn’t win games of football. You can put them in any system you want and we won’t win games of football. I don’t think they’re not trying they’re just not very good.
  15. Yeah from my memory he released a video which then got put on loads of websites with misleading headlines about every Wetherspoons employee being sacked etc. In reality as you say it was a video attempting to reassure people at a time when pubs income would reduce to next to nothing.
  16. This isn’t actually true is it? I mean other than the part about Tim Martin being an arsehole which is true. I think they furloughed staff and told people that if they wanted to work in a supermarket etc. then they’d be able to go back to their Wetherspoons job once pubs reopen. As I say I’ve got no time for the bloke but the spreading of lies as facts in a big red box is one of the more annoying aspects of social media.
  17. Well he did get us out of the Championship from a position where we should have been nowhere near. We’ve not been good enough this season. How much of that is down to him is difficult to say I guess. I’ll tell you now that he is absolutely not a piece of shit though. Have a word with yourself!
  18. How can you have a plan b if you don’t even have a plan a?
  19. I wouldn’t want Maupay anywhere near Villa. Average player with one of the worst attitudes in the game. How he can come out and say the ball was there to be won in that challenge today I’ll never know.
  20. Yeah I completely agree. I’d hold Davis way more culpable but if Nyland had claimed the ball properly in the first place then it would never have been an issue.
  21. I really hope this new deal goes through. The number of Newcastle fans with Saudi Arabia flags etc on their twitter profiles is pretty ridiculous and the backtracking would be fun to watch.
  22. I think the problem is that the way he claimed the ball was so weak and not confident and in reality he shouldn’t have needed to end up on his own goal line. Having said that, I have no idea what Davis was doing and would put more blame on him in that situation. It was the sort of goal that would be typical of us to give away in a game where we were comfortably the better team.
  23. Yeah I could see the argument for leaving things as they were. With El Ghazi having no impact on the game it should have been easy to bring samatta on for him and change the shape to give Davis more support up top. As you say, I thought Davis was very good today but I think we need to get more bodies in and around him to make full use of his ability to hold the ball up and bring people into play.
  24. Agree with this by and large. My only criticism would be the substitutions. The game was crying out for Samatta to come on up top with Davis and for us to have a good go at winning it.
  25. Should have brought Samatta on to play with Davis. This is a game we could have won but we’ve been way too defensive.
