Playing first team players is starting to come home to roost. We should have tossed off the fa cup without a first choice starter playing and conference league should have been For back up and kids. We won’t get a chance like this to qualify for the champions league again any time soon and we haven’t got the squad for 60 games

Can’t cope with injuries, Torres out and the defence is a shambles. Lenglet and Carlos are poor. Midfield has ran out of energy and up front we have zero threat

At the moment if you look at as us going for champions league rather than winning the league if this forest game stays as it is you could say our drop in form over Christmas hasn’t cost us and we have got away with it or you could say we have missed a chance to really pull away

Injuries and squad depth hurting us a bit today. Torres, youri and bouba missing are big for any team to deal with plus I’m guessing Carlos was not 100% or being rested for Utd. Having said that we need to move the ball quicker in the final third when we play these teams that stick everyone behind the ball otherwise they just get themselves reorganised. Thought Duran and zaniolo despite the goal we’re poor and it’s a big drop in quality when diaby goes off. I don’t think mcginn in the middle worked at all, it stopped his natural attacking game and final thought is that if the ref hasn’t given a foul on the gk why are VAR looking at an incident that ultimately had no impact on the goal? It didn’t stop him being in position it didn’t effect the defensive setup so I think that was VAR at its anti goal worst

I agree, not been his biggest fan since he joined but did a really good job when he came on. Calm, strong, worked hard and also won the corner for Ollie’s goal through a good surge down the left. Looked more confident and less anxious perhaps after the midweek goal

Shame they look like they will go into administration and get another points deduction

Agree with all of this but also in the second half at full speed smashed one of the Man City players with a perfectly timed challenge showing he can do the classy defending by default but when he needs it he does have the power and strength to mix it

Ratings & Reactions: Bournemouth v Villa

Not going to criticise Emery to much but he can’t keep playing konsa at right back so he can get Carlos on the team. Carlos at the moment isn’t good enough and neither is zaniolo at all. Really disappointed because that’s forest and today where we have been out worked and battled against what is two shit teams. Win those two and we are top of the league- 209 replies

A back 4 out due to injury is to kind! They had a centre back out due to injury but the other is out because he has a flaw in his mentality which means he gets sent off 3/4 times a year and that’s nothing that warrants any sympathy same goes for bissouma missing and the same will go for us next week without kamara. Also not like we haven’t had our share of injuries too. 4 of our starting side from last year have played a total of less than 2 games worth of minutes so far. Not heard the sky Helmets on commentary ever mention it.

The stat about how much more spurs have ran annoyed me but then I suppose the is the possibility they run themselves out. Not sure if they keep the work rate up over 90 minutes because I only watch Villa usually

I wonder if that includes the number that are offside that seem to get ignored that pundits seem to view as real chances. I’m thinking as an example estupinian vs Brighton at 0-0 and they say it might have been a different game if that had gone in as opposed to the reality that is it would have been ruled out by var because the line was spot on as it usually is

Not sure the are many players that were lightning quick that cone back as quick from what looked like a bad hamstring tear. Not saying he will he a snail but doubt he will ever be as quick

Ratings & Reactions: Nottm Forest v Villa
punkiller1981 replied to limpid's topic in PL: Nottm Forest a
I agree it’s important not to over react and had we lost to Brighton away or someone like that I would be less bothered but we have failed to beat wolves and forest away both of whom are garbage. Games like today would have allowed us to keep a 5 point gap to Newcastle and 7 point gap to Utd but now we are back to 2 and 4 points respectively so this was a big game and we didn’t play like it was. The closing down for the first goal was pathetic the just was nobody charging out to block the shot. Forest charged and blocked most of our efforts or rushed us into poor finishing. The 2nd was equally poor in terms of closing the shot down and yes it was a nothing shot that emi should have just caught rather than do what ever the hell it actually did but those two goals and lack of closing optimised a lazy performance of a team believing the hype. Will utd lose away to forest ? Probably not, they will probably put in another horrible performance like yesterday but win 1-0 and this is why we will probably still finish around 7th. though Pau played very well on the brightside but other than that turgid is all I can think to describe our performance- 328 replies

This has been such an awful performance but emi trying to pull of a camera save rather than just catch a simple shot that’s killed us as part of this second half. That ended this as a contest really poor from emi against a nothing shot

Worst, most energy less and idealess performance under Emery so far and not being able to beat poor sides away from home will cost us and let’s be clear forest are poor

The annoying thing for me is the lack of energy and movement. Zaniolo very poor but diaby has been next to useless in that first half. We need players breaking lines and running in behind and it’s not happening just waiting for something to happen

Just reading the Utd forum (which is good entertainment by the way) the seems to be a mix of why would Emery leave Villa where he is happy, I’m control and very well payed to Utd are like arsenal when he took over and he lost the dressing room. Doesn’t look much interest from Utd fans for emery which is good. just on mason mount, my take has always been he is very overrated. I remember watching him at derby and thinking he was a tidy little player but in the premier league nothing stood out to me. If I’m looking at this from a Villa perspective would I be happy if Villa announced they were signing him on a free transfer ? My answer would be I don’t think he gets in the side but if the wages were not to high then maybe someone to add to the squad but if he wanted big money then I would say no way. If Villa announced they had signed him for £60 million I think I would be physically sick with disgust. I just don’t get the football thinking that says this guy is a £60 million player
-
Still to expensive on a free the guy is pointless
-
We need to, I know we only recently signed him up but the Man City’s and Liverpool’s of this world will be looking and given his development and current rate of progression it seems a good time
