  1. I don't know.... steps go down as well as up.
  2. A hypothetical question for the anoraks out there: Is there any rule against narrowing the pitch in the middle of a season? because if I were PL, I'd consider it.
  3. Really? We should have hired Mr. Motivator then instead and I'll remind Pep what to concentrate on next time I bump into him. Because I said tactics do not matter? Did you give a name to this straw man? There are a lot of people who understand football very well. The difference between great managers and alright ones is not tactics. It is the ability to motivate the players. It is true in every sport. No straw man. Your words were 'vastly more important than'. It just backs up my belief of why English football is rooted in the dark ages and the premiership is so reliant on foreigners. It's the same mentality as 'four-four-two'. Motivators are ten a penny - Great tacticians aren't. You can motivate the England team as much as you like, we'll get rolled over by every other team with superior tactics every time until we finally come to terms with what our problems are.

  5. Good Lord. If you're right (and I'm not really questioning you), that is staggering for the Premier league.
  6. The young players wenger signs are obviously in a different class to the ones villa sign, both in ability and cost. (And the fact that players are more likely to want to go to arsenal as youngsters) and yes, Wigan played "nice" football, so did villa last year. However, look at what division Martinez's "nice football" took them to. It's precisely that they were able to play football that enabled them to stay up for so many seasons - it was Wigan for Christ's sake. Teams that play percentage football will always get found out in this division. By the time it comes to the end of the season they're knackered from chasing the ball for most of the year.
  7. Decent post. It does seem that our decline has taken just over thirty (mostly) painful years, punctuated by a few false dawns. If there's a modicum of hope to be taken from all of this it's that we still have big gates despite this slow decline. The size of the city I suppose, which always means the potential is there. It just rarely gets tapped into. On that team that went out on Saturday - that was possibly as technically poor as any Villa side I have seen on paper. I'd give Lambert until early next season, as long as we're not relegated. But I'd want tangible proof that there is some kind of footballing plan.
  8. And I can invent the VillaCar to put it in. It starts well enough but never actually gets anywhere.
  9. Randy's in more financial doo-dah than he or the club lets on. He's involved in a sector that should have gone belly-up if it weren't for the fact that our glorious leaders all went to school with their sociopathic banker/financial sector mates and therefore bailed them out on a scale never before seen. All the talk about GDP growth now is just smoke and mirrors. It's based upon lies and even more debt in the form of FLS and help-to-buy. The real crash hasn't happened yet. Randy's positioning himself for the real hit in two or three year's time when interest rates go up by 5%. Merry Xmas!
  10. I'll give you a million quid if you can do that with me...... or Carlton Palmer.
  11. But it's a results business. If you want entertainment go and watch a film, take a bungee jump, wrestle a lion, or something like that... Tbf recently the performances & results have been poor I was agreeing with you... hencer the original '</Sarcasm>' tag.

  13. Wedge Eric Pickles in goal and move our best passer to midfield.
  14. Rather than having to read this insipid holier-than-thou, patronising tripe, why didn't the OP just list this plethora of discontented fans asking for 'Lambert out'? The majority bringing up this subject are claiming to be his biggest fans. Very few of us disgruntled fans are calling for his head.
  15. Absolute tosh. Utter Drivel. There you go. Your turn.
  16. La la land. We are in a relegation fight - look at the crud we play and then look at the points instead of the position. We're as close to 8th as we are to the relegation zone, with the games coming up we can pull ourselves away further, should we not do that then obviously my opinion will change but I can only give my opinion on what is actually going on right now not some made up situation where we lose every game or win every game. What I expect is around 7 points by January 1st, which puts us at 26 points. We also play against 3 teams that are currently below us, again giving us a way to pull ourselves away. Nothing La La Land about it mate. I really don't understand why there is such negativity following a loss to the current champions, if we had beat them we'd probably have had posts about getting into Europe. The negativity has nothing to do with today's game. Taken in isolation I have not much issue with it. It's the last two months plus. You think we'll get 7, I think we'll do well to get 4 by Jan 1st. I hope you're right.
  17. I live in Birmingham and I can tell you that no-one talks about Everton, Swansea, Newcastle etc etc Why would they be interested in Villa in London?? Because it tends to be a cosmopolitan city where people gravitate to from all over the country and world. People down here do talk about all kinds of teams (granted there are a load of plastic reds and pool fans). I happen to think its quite indicative of our status in the game.

  19. Living in London I can tell you all that Villa is pretty much anonymous down here. Nobody talks about us (unless I bring Villa up in the conversation) and nobody cares about us. We are dire and predictable. On the odd occasion that I've talked about Villa it just raises contempt for the football we play. It's actually come to a point that my work colleagues think the premier league would be better off without this great club. I really hope that Lerner and Lambert know what they're doing with this five year plan because I've seen better 'progress' from pub teams. Our one-dimensional hit and hope counter attack has been well and truly sussed now so expect a torrid second half of the season. I think we'll beat relegation by a whisker again. Oh, and for those who think that league position is the only indicator of progress (which it isn't) think about this: We are six points from third from bottom but fourteen points from Third.
  20. He could bring Jordan in as number two. Wouldn't be the first time we've had a couple of outstanding t*ts in charge.
  21. Where you getting those stats from? Second half possesion? It was shown on the tv screen... Ah, not watching the game. Listening in the car as a passenger. Certainly not the case for the whole game though. We are down again in posession.
  22. Sacked for what? Did you honestly expect a win today? I think fans just expected some effort and it's not just about today it is the dross that was served up at Fulham and in so many other games this season. When was the last time you felt good about a Villa performance? Away: Chelsea Home: Sunderland (last season)
  23. You wouldn't Three bag job: Two for you-know-what and one to be sick in.
  24. Pure PR... Massive player at Villa. Also ran at Manure.
