  1. Don't you feel like Emery told us to keep it tight first half and then get more stuck into the game in the second half?
  2. Now that goal was a thing of pure beauty. Luiz has been great today and obviously enjoying having Kamara playing alongside of him.
  3. We need to pressure their back three now to make them put him some challenges against us and risk a second yellow. But, can anyone see Villa doing that? Even if they did and we end up playing 10 men, can anyone see us taking advantage of that?
  4. That's a great point about him playing closer to the right. I was screaming at the TV for Emery to take McGinn off for Ings, move Buendia right and Watkins out wide left. Bailey needed help out right whenever he got on the ball there but McGinn just wasn't up to it.
  5. He played mainly wide right and put in a couple of great crosses today. He just seemed to not be as involved as he used to. Whether that's because he played wide or because he's just not as good as we became used to a couple of years ago, I don't know. He wasn't as bad as some thought but, he could do more. Having said that, he's not alone in not doing enough in last night's game.
  6. We need to be starting two centre backs that aren't Mings and/or Konsa. They are good players but, not good enough together if we want to break the top half on a consistent basis.
  7. That Villa performance would beat most teams in the Premier League so I'm not totally disappointed. We had Martinez, Ramsey and Cash out and they do add to the team although, Young had another decent game for us tonight. We need a better back-up goalkeeper, two new centre backs, a wide attacking forward and a natural striker. It's a lot to ask for but, we need them. We're so lucky to have Kamara in our team. He's a brilliant player and we need to build our whole midfield around him because he looks a top class player. My only criticism of the manager was the late subs. We needed to change it earlier than that.
  8. Negatives: Luiz is having a mare. Mings and Konsa yet again being found out against top class opponents. Olsen looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights but, is at least making saves. More and more missed chances from our forwards. Referee is useless Positives: Score isn't higher so we're not finished off just yet. Luiz didn't get booked for that foul on Robertson. We created chances to score. McGinn playing his best for a while. Kamara looks an unreal player for us.
  9. I agree that he's good for Sweden but, for Villa, he's so far been terrible. Looking at Liverpool's lineup, they look one player short of their best eleven. I can't help but see a Liverpool win by at least 2 to 3 goals.
  10. The Mysterines. Their debut is awesome!
  11. I hear you but, he's won everything at international level now. Maybe, he will now get a hunger for trophies at club level. If he feels Villa aren't close to that he may take that big move if he thinks he is going to a club that can pretty much guarantee those trophies. But, I do agree with you that he has never shown any desire to leave Villa and he does genuinely seem grateful to the club for resurrecting his career and love of the game. The good thing is, if he does leave, it will be for a load more money than we paid for him.
  12. That save literally kept them in it. They wouldn't have come back so late into the game.
  13. The man had mental health issues because he was being overlooked, not given a chance at his club and, considered quitting the sport he loves. He moved to Villa and now his dreams are coming true. Of course his thoughts are messed up and he's enjoying every single minute of it because he's been through the mill to get here and he probably thought it was an impossible dream. Milk it for everything, Emi - you've earned it! As a Villa fan, I'm absolutely thrilled that the 2022 golden glove winner is our 'keeper and he is also a World Champion. As for the celebration with the glove award, that was a big "f**k you" to everyone that ever doubted him. The fact that the Qatari guy was in the background of some pictures is just pure luck and will be symbolised against what was a corrupt event.
  14. What if England get to the final and it's against Argentina? Imagine a penalty shootout against our keeper? That's a real conflict of interest for me.
  15. When he subbed on Young yesterday I was wondering what the hell he was doing. As it happened, Young probably had more touches of the ball in our penalty area than any other player. It was a defensive masterclass to protect our lead and it worked. Whether it would work against the better sides is another question but, for now, it'll do. We also have to remember that he's working with a new group of players and maybe those tactics aren't what we will see when he's settled down. Maybe it was a case of needs must for the situation we are in? If that is the case, it shows just how pragmatic he can be in having a plan b. I'd imagine Emery is the kind of man who has more than just a plan b too! For far too long we have been a soft touch. I think that the likes of TRO will enjoy seeing us doing a few dirty things to get/protect a win. If Emery instils that mentality into us I am going to be a happy fan for sure. I'm not a fan of time-wasting and feigning injuries etc but, if you can't beat 'em - join' em!
  16. I think this guy has a win-at-all-costs mentality and those that don't fall in line will either have to get used to it or be moved on. This is great for us as a club. Martinez gets it. He will cheat and be horrible for opponents and we have needed that for sooooooo long as a club. The back 6 when leading is an example of it. The players going down "injured" is another example. I cannot wait to see the team we field after 3 or 4 transfer windows with Unai in charge. Give this guy £150m - £250m to spend and we will have a serious team/squad to follow.
  17. He will be worth 40m+ if he ever decides to move on.
  18. Mings was shocking there but not as bad as Olsen. That ball came from miles out so the keeper had all the time in the world to see it coming and go out to punch it clear. Disgraceful performance from him tonight.
  19. We need better defenders. At least one new left-sided centre back in the summer to either start or challenge Mings.
  20. We have to buy new back-up goalkeeper and left back ASAP. These pair fill me with dread. Mings has been ropey since coming in too. What a different game this would've been if we played our best 11 from the start.
  21. They should've had at least one yellow card already - that challenge on McGinn was too late to avoid a card and Fernando's kicking the ball away in his usual strop. The game lacks quality and you can tell there's been many changes. The good news for us is we have real quality in the final third that can change this for us if we can keep them out from scoring.
  22. Would absolutely pick him for England when you consider the other options. Ty did great yesterday to keep his cool in that hissy-fit moment from Ronaldo. I'd imagine he would have spannered him though him we had already lost the game.
  23. Ramsey further up the pitch. Front four pressed high. Bailey more central, where he was more effective. Team defended together. Made changes at vital times. Triple change that actually made absolute sense. Gave game time to Sanson. That, for me, was a 10/10 managerial performance.
