  1. The football we are trying to play looks shite, and isn't effective. With out the ball we looked really organised and dealt with most threats comfortably. The defence pressed well and quickly. The obsession with trying to break forward as quickly as possible ends with us losing the ball and having to quickly recover into defensive positions. We don't try and retain the ball for long enough to build attacks. The ball gets rushed to some one in space, invariably a full back or a centre back. It's either a long ball or a cross from deep. Hearing Roy Keane pundit for ITV, the bloke blatantly knows his football. He and Lambert aren't telling the players to go out and play shite football. Lambert t likes his 4-3-3 with the width coming from the fullbacks and the wide front men. Our full backs at the moment aren't good enough to beat a man deliver a decent cross, and the wide front men can't beat a man a deliver a decent cross. We are suffering from square peg in round hole syndrome. Westwood, Sanchez and Cleverley don't work as a midfield trio. Overall a very decent point, but we need investment in January or for Benteke to save us.
  2. That is a great deal. Wish I'd have waited a week now.
  3. I have come from the dark side. I loved my 360 very deeply and was quite tearful and I picked up a PS4. Really impressed so far. My main worries were controller and PSN matching Xbox Live. The control pad is really easy to get used to and the triggers feel good. I haven't played online yet but hopefully the experience is the same. I'm hoping that one day I'll be one of those 2 console clearing in the woods you hear about!
  4. Got the remastered version for PS4 having never played the original - Superb so far.
  5. I don't care if Butler takes a few steps down the wicket, surely that decision makes a mockery of the game.
  6. ffs I don't understand how the bowler can be half way through his action, stop and stump the non striker.
  7. Hopefully these 2 have a go and get some runs on the board. Top order is too conservative for me.
  8. Lambert leaving due to surrounding uncertainty could confine us to relegation if a takeover isn't close. No suitable manager would take on the job given the circumstances. I'm just crossing my fingers hoping that new owners are already making plans for the new season because 19 other Premier League clubs are,
  9. Stuff of dreams as Gabby scores the only goal in the World Cup Final! Scored 10 goals in 5 games for England.
  10. One bonus about a quick moving thread is that my bad jokes quickly get swallowed Good night!
  11. Reliable source has confirmed that a deal has fallen through at the last minute. They'd seen a map of the local area and thought they were bidding for Tesco. A sad night for us all.
  12. Brace yourselves. We're going to get all 57 varietys.
  13. I'm waiting on confirmation but I'm 90% certain that the source/sauce jokes never get old.
  14. I'm no doubt in the minority but it wouldn't bother me that much if they changed the crest and colours *if* that came with success. Even if we started winning everything, it would be a Red Bull success and not a Villa one. It would be a bit Wimbledon/MK Dons. Not really as MK Dons just took Wimbledon's place in the league but basically presented themselves as a new club. In fact, they even handed over the trophies won by the original Wimbledon to AFC Wimbledon. I stand educated. Didn't know they'd handed over trophies.
  15. And no doubt we'd all end up supporting AFC Aston Villa of Witton McGregor.

  17. This thread once again delivering hope and despair in equal measures. Red Bull would surely incorporate their own logos etc. Villa fans wouldn't have any of it and rightly so.
  18. The ITK is tiresome. Faulkner would surely be at the heart of any 'talks'? It suggests that either a sale is all but done or that not much is happening at all.
  19. we'll Know a lot more When lAmbert's positioN is cleared up. I do wish it had worked out for him, it still may if new owners come in and let him spend some money. Though it's unlikely. Lambert hasn't done a bad job at all given the range of players he's been able to chose from. Even Eck was able to sign Given, Hutton, and Zog who are a world away from Bacuna, Tonev, Sylla etc. In fact, Vlaar, Okore, Benteke, El Ahmadi , Westwood, Lowton, Guzan (semi faceous but he was off). He's signed some good players and has been unlucky with injuries/individual errors. Best case scenario for me, Billionaire backs Lambert but doesn't want to do a Man City. He's happy to spend each season to keep us competing with the top 8 and slowly grow us into a real force. Lambert who I think is a likeable bloke keeps his job and the soul doesn't get sucked out of our club.
  20. Lambert has been unlucky this season with injuries. I don't think N'Zogbia was in the plans any way, but as frustrating as he is, he can make something happen. Perhaps he'll pay the price for keeping faith in Baker and Clark who have each both put in some really competent performances this season. Baker looks magnificent at times. They've just both got a mare in them at any given time. If the statement results in an increased wage budget and a few new back room staff to help him, I'd be tempted to say one more year.
  21. One thing I've noticed that's always been strange is how Lambert's Villa deal with opposition wingers. Since his first home game v Everton he's been happy for the cross to come In and deal with it, rather than bust a gut to stop the cross. He did make a lot of fuss about 'playing the right way' when he took over but it hasn't happened. Even if he stays on he's lost the patience of the fans. The place would be toxic after a few bad results. I'd like to thank him because he did bring the whole place together again last season when it looked ominous after Wigan. Keeping us up has been a harder job than he'll get credit for. Ultimately it's the dreadful football that will cost him.
  22. There has been a genuine and very blatant attempt to reduce the wage bill unlike McLeish's claims that he had to cut the wage bill despite sticking Shay's 50k a week on it for 5 years. It's the style of football that bothers me. We've seen glimpses of great attacking football where the ball is moved around quickly but you certainly can't hear Lambert on the sideline encouraging the players to stop hitting long balls and to start playing. It hasn't happened enough, we are a route 1 side.
  23. Do you know the name of the tactic you use? It's called under pressure and it's awesome! The front 4 press from the front. It's in the tactic sharing centre on fm base.
  24. Finally got into to a game and it coincides with the discovery of a monstrous 4-2-4 tactic discovered on FM Base. 4 games in and 4 comfortable wins, beat West Ham 3-1 away and Southampton 4-1 away. I know it's effectively cheating but I really can't be bothered with changing tactics game to game to counter specific threats. I want to be able to run through the seasons, sign some bargains, make some profits and win some football matches! Surely I am Randy Lerner's dream manager.
