    New manager

funny, because Jonathan Johnson (french football journalist who called the gana, ayew, veretout and amavi transfers early on) says Lyon aren't bothered about Genesio apparently any sticking point is likely to be over Baticle
  7. agreed we haven't been outplayed, and we have dropped points due to stupid mistakes - but alot of those mistakes were made by Sherwood. He messed up with substitutions again against Swansea, failing to take off Richardson who was getting completely exposed as the game went on, and bringing on Amavi, who has the pace to deal with the sub Swansea brought on. But no Sherwood was happy to do nothing and then watch as the winning goal came down Richardsons side. He then moaned about players running out of steam ignoring that he failed to use all his subs. He wont manage in the premier league again, i expect to see him as one of the reserve soccer special pundits on sky, covering the lower league and cup games.

    New manager

Did pochettino have premier league experience, did Koeman? They seem to have done ok

    New manager

looks like Garde had a respectable record at Lyon and also won 2 trophies. we are not really in a position to be picky. Moyes is a no go as he is currently in a job, and the other managers out of work include Pearson and Rodgers.
  10. They have better strikers, Rondon, Berahino, Lambert is past it but might chip in with some goals later on in the season. I agree their defensive and midfield options are very average but like his football or not, Pulis is one of the best at organising limited teams at premier league level and I respect him for that. Let's hope Big Sam dosen't do the same at Sunderland. Rondon has had a fair bit of criticism from baggies fans, and hes only scored twice hasnt he? Anyway, West Broms biggest weakness is that they lack pace, which can be a killer in the premier league. However, as you both say Pulis is a smart organiser - he has been pragmatic and sets up his team to minimise the lack of pace by staying tight and compact, and grinding out tight games.
  11. I thought he was meant to be a fantastic man manager. I wouldn't want to play for a clearing in the woods who said this shit about me to the media. wow those comments by sherwood are pathetic You couldnt do any more tim, players were tired tracking back? Maybe you could have brought on Amavi, who has pace, to replace richardson who doesnt and counter the threat down our left, which is where the winner came from. We cant afford to carry players? So why do you keep playing lescott and gestede?
  12. Watford, with a team that had a spine of heurehlo gomes, craig cathcart, ben watson and troy deeney went to stoke and won 2-0. They are now 13th on 13 points. Good managers can get teams with lesser quality players to play better than the sum of their parts. They can deal with the loss of talented individuals by organisation, smart tactics and making the team better.
  13. so we are playing 1 centre midfielder against a midfield 3 of shelvey, ki and sigurdsson

    Liverpool

since they beat Bournemouth back on the 17th august, Liverpool have played 11 games and won just twice. One was a penalty shoot out win at home to a league 2 side, and the other was against us.
  15. I watched Stoke vs Swansea on monday and saw a midfield pairing of Charlie Adam and Glenn Wheelan control the game. Leicester regularly play Morgan, Huth, Simpson, Schlupp, Drinkwater, Vardy. Palace play Dann, Hangeland, Delaney, Gayle, McArthur, Puncheon. I see players such as James Collins, Marc Albrighton, Ryan Betrand and Steven Davies, who were deemed not good enough for us, playing well and making a positive impact at their current clubs. Had we signed any of those players in the summer, i think people would have gone mad. I'm sure we have been linked to a few of them in the not too distant past and the general consensus has been 'not good enough'. However, under their respective managers the teams with these players are doing ok, and should comfortably stay up. These managers are able to get the most out of some pretty average players, and their teams look organised, well drilled, are able to maintain concentration and composure. This means as a team they are able to do better than their individual parts would suggest. Does it look like Tim Sherwood is doing any of that? Does it look like we work on any of these qualities on the training pitch? And how many points have we dropped because Sherwood has got it wrong tactically? Palace and Leicester away, the negative approach at Liverpool, a team who were on the ropes spotting them a 2 goal lead, bizarre selection at home to Stoke. There's also the first half Blues line up. Go back to last season and there's the cup final, Southampton away, somehow letting QPR, the worst away side in the league score 3 goals and get a point (chris ramsey made subs that changed the game and tim didnt react). I suspect that people would give Sherwood more time if it looked like he was learning and improving. But hes not, hes arguably getting worse. The same tactical errors he making this season he was making last season and when he was at Spurs. The slagging off of players - happened last season and at Spurs, the leaks to the press -- happened at Spurs. Hes not going to change.
  16. Yes spot on. You can't legislate for mistakes like that. If we play like that against a lesser team without the brain farts we will see results improve under the current manager. but we have played 'lesser' teams and we still don't get the results. and when individual errors keep happening with a regularity (and they go back into last season as well) you have to start looking at the manager and what he does on the training pitch. Under sherwoods tenure has it looked at any time that we work on organisation, on being solid, at keeping our concentration?
  17. chelsea had 1 premier league clean sheet and had let in 17 goals in 8 games this season. Yet they dealt with us with ease. Sherwood hasnt got a clue
  18. all these stories coming out attempting to mitigate sherwoods performance are no surprise, he learnt from Redknapp, who is the king of bullshit and using his media mates to his advantage.
  19. Strange how he gets so many key passes for a player who does nothing and looks for the easy pass while trying to get rid of the hot potatoes ball, was on par for key passes with Gerard a couple of seasons ago and only behind Lallana out of all English players. He started this season well and was 8th in the league for key passes after 4 games, doesn't look like an average player most games I watch him play! you know key passes are just any ball that leads to an attempt at goal, know matter how poor the chance actually is or where it is from. For example, according to whoscored, Westwood had 3 key passes against Stoke. 1 was a 8 yard square pass, 30 to 40 yards out between the centre circle and opposition box, to Gueye, who then took the ball to just outside the area and had a speculative shot. One was a hopeful floated free kick from 40 yards out into the box that Gestede got a weak looping header on. The final was actually a great chance setup, the one Richards should have scored. But the point is, given he takes practically every set piece, it is no surprise his 'key passes' stat is high. All it needs is for a villa player to touch it in the box and have it go towards the goal, no matter how poor the actual chance created is. And to prove stats are not the be all and end all, our whoscored ranking is 9th best in the league, yet we are in the bottom 3 on a pitiful 4 points.
  20. arsenal look like they could score every time they attack
  21. agreed, its also the same across facebook and twitter, hearing fans on various phone ins they are not happy, and he already seems to have lost the fans at VP. boos at full time against baggies and jeers when he took off gil, boos after 1st half against blues, more sarcastic jeers yesterday when he finally brought on Gil and then boos at full time
  22. speed of the passing and movement is the key
  23. was frustrating yesterday. would show a bit of real quality to beat a man, drive forward into a great position, and then pass it straight to a stoke player.
