If Grealish goes and I personally think he’s off (prove me wrong Jack) I’d seriously go all in for Cherki at Lyon. He’s only 17 but his stats mirror those of Grealish already. Granted his figures are slightly lower in places but it was strange how similar the highs and lows were. His progressive carries was very high, something which our Jack is top at. Would take a sizeable bid but it would send a statement out to the footballing world if we got him before a so called ‘big’ team.

Looked a level above El Ghazi. I know it’s only preseason but El Ghazi got double figures last year and JPB has made a load more intelligent runs in the games I’ve seen so far and had some decent scoring opportunities. Still a bit raw I’d say but the sign are positive.

I think it’ll be Young to start with as he seems fitter at present. I agree Young gives us some scope to change our systems at the back dependant on who we’re playing. Has Smith ever used a back 3 though with wing backs in his time at Walsall, Brentford?

That was what I was thinking but the ESR bid would have had us Grealish - ESR - Buendia Is Buendia’s switch inside and the Bailey purchase due to us missing out on ESR? Personally I think Buendia is a better No10 than ESR anyway so can understand us moving him inside if Bailey came available and ESR was a no go.

Just a discussion point but where do people see him and Buendia playing? I had Buendia RW, Grealish LW, especially with us chasing a No10. The Bailey signing, chuffed as I am we’re getting him, makes me scratch my head a bit.

I think Watkins will smash it as well this year too. Just need that other fella as well, what’s his name now, think I’m seen it mentioned on Twitter once or twice the last few days

Shall I blurr the images, will that help? Offensively I think their on par, but Sanchos probably the better player (at the moment). Still excited to see what Bailey can do in this league.

How we’re going to set up, (stupid fat fingers)

I’m not sure where we’re going to set up this season. The ESR chase would imply we want a new No10, but that would imply Buendia our wide right. I thought Bailey played predominantly on the right so confused if he’s the Grealish replacement. If the plan was ESR at No10, Grealish left and Buendia right the links to Bailey and more recently Sarr are a bit weird.

Pains me to say it but in the current market 100M doesn’t get you too much (2 x Ben White), unless we shop in Aldi, I mean France.

Not that I want to be talking about spending the Grealish cash (it’s not enough for him) but if it is indeed happening then I’d want us to make a real statement to the footballing world, the fans and the current and future squad with who we target (and get) For me that would be 135M on Nkunku, LW/AM 45M Bailey RW 35M Giving us a fluid front four of Watkins Nkunku Buendia Bailey Tchouameni DM 30M Would leave us some spare and ideally I’d like a better CM and CB cover, perhaps a couple of loans here with an option to buy.

IMHO I think he’s overrated, especially for the £40-£50M being banded about for his signature. I’d much rather we went after Tchouameni (1st) or Kamara (2nd) in France personally.

Going by his expected goals and assists stats on FBref he seems to be quite consistent

He’s got some skills and quick as well. Is he any better than Barry and JPB though as similar age and could (if bought) impact on their development as he plays more out wide for Salzburg I think. I have to admit I like discussing these types of players as opposed to some of the drivel we’ve had to suffer over the last 10-15 years. Exciting times that we’re even considering the Buendias and Baileys of this world. Long may it continue

Noticed their shirt had his name on it as sponsor last year or the year before. Shame really as I rate Gouiri highly and think he’s be a great back up/competition for Watkins

Not sure really as I’m don’t know an awful lot about Nice’s financial state of play. He’s only 21, good stats, decent pace as well. I’d probably say £20m max but that is a wild guess on my part. £20M doesn’t even get you a Rhian Brewster here though and Gouiri is way better than Brewster.
