  1. Fer, Gibson, Hayden, Austin and that one beginning with B all promised much. I feel a tad deflated given the outs as well.
  2. I m not sure if we are actually much better off than when the window started, we may be by the start of next season, but right now, not sure we are. Let’s hope we get no more injuries.
  3. .....and Charlie Austin (if Hogan does go). I was going to write this exact post.
  4. Other than Bent actually scores goals and Hogan doesn’t.
  5. Just never showed even a glimpse of threat. Looks too big a unit and not really that mobile to make a success as a striker at any reasonable level. Injuries just top it off. A really grim purchase and waste of valuable resource.
  6. Taylor has been poor for a while. We are nervous, hopefully this will help. Their goal was a cracker, this won’t happen too often. We had plenty of chances so at least we are creating. 3pts. We’ve has worse days. Onwards and upwards....
  7. Reading between the lines Bolasie jumped before the indignation of being kept out the team by Green, or worse sent back. If you listen to DS’s version, he admirably let’s Bolasie off the hook by not explicitly saying he was underperforming and was sent back, but does makes it clear he wasn’t delivering on his promise (and wages and talent) and suggested the player himself was disappointed in his game. Bolasie isn’t going to pull up trees at an ambitious PL club when he can’t get into a mid table Championship side, returning doesn’t make sense.
  8. A LB and midfielder are the objectives apparently. If this happened it wouldn’t be bad business, especially if Jack and Tuenzebe come back soon. January is usually busy towards the very end of the window as deals close out and plan B and C come into focus
  9. He was a recommendation as hot young talent by Steve Clarke who had him at Reading. I not sure he was scouted, looks like a purchase of whimsy. Villa chucking money around again.
  10. If he does come back it signals a closing in of the ranks, looking like battening down for a long game rather than the shit or bust approach of previous regimes. They have probably decided to see where we get with what we have but not spunk money chasing a less than 50% chance of scraping through the play-offs. Personally it’s been a long time coming and a bit of humility and reality will serve us well. The owners seem to be going nowhere thankfully and have VERY deep pockets so let’s build a sustainable, scalable football club, they turn up the money flow when we get back to the PL
  11. Nyland played his part, but you defend as a team. He has flapped on occasion but he was overly exposed by those in front of him. Kalinic has a decent enough reputation and he has shipped 8 in his first three games, so clearly the problem is not just Nyland. I think attributing blame or points lost is dangerous, we have just not been good enough this season.
  12. Promised much delivered little. Wasted option, hopefully signals someone worthwhile incoming, maybe Sawyer?
  13. Disjointed and thread bare defence; unfortunate goalkeeping experience (and I think not all Nyland’s fault); fitness of new players and loaners getting up to speed; but most of all a necessary change in flaying system and injuries to key players when we were finally in the groove. Give Smith a chance, he needs a fair run and the chance to overhaul the defence.
  14. Wow, Smith out campaign already. Have you lost your minds, what exactly are you expecting?
  15. Defence still very poor. Possession and creative play (players offering options) has really gone off the boil. Giving the ball away cheaply. We look very average at the moment, individuals need to step up.
  16. Yes it hurts, yes its frustrating and almost inexplicable but Jeez, get a grip. Yes, two very poor games, but calling for Smiths head is utterly ridiculous we are in danger of living up to the fickle mantle. He’s only been here 10-12 or so games and 4 games ago he was ‘a breath of fresh air’, ‘exactly who we need’ etc etc. Our squad is a shambles, we have injuries and no defence, coupled with another new keeper infront of a make shift defence. But by my reckoning we have Abraham, McGinn and Grealish who are decent and everyone else is middling or rubbish here lies teh problem. However to suggest he has lost the dressing room is utterly bonkers. Lets the dust settle. Let Smith develop his team and style, twenty games left to sort this out.
  17. Shocking, really shocking. A hell of a lot of work to do here. Our squad is terrible, only one selection works, one injury and we are below bang average. We are no where near ready to go up, nowhere near. So much for fortress Villa Park. So much for Lansbury and Hogan taking their chances. Hopefully they will be gone by the end of the month.
  18. We are mugs, when you loan a player this is exactly what happens, it’s rarely a beneficial move for the loaning club unless the deal is locked out and with a transparent buy option. We are minnows now, our past three seasons have been a massively missed opportunity, admittedly in hindsight. What worries me is what happens if we ever go up with our Dads army and vanishing loanees. Any worthy outfield PL player starts at £15-20m, and it’s all north of this when they are half decent. We will be spending Fulham money just to stick a plaster over our squad. Get it right in this division and go up on clear merit, not lucking it via the playoffs, we’ll be back here in 12months minus Grealish, Chester, McGinn, Kalinic and a few others maybe too.
  19. Yes, you are onto something there, maybe we should try and sign: KIM Kallstrom ANDREA Pirlo JACKIE Charlton MICHELLE Platini LOUISE Figo CAROL Poborski NIKKI Butt Rod FANNI TITTY Camara Stefan KUNTZ Demba BRA But then again, remember the season we tried to sign all the Jordan’s?
  20. We have for a while I think, really not sure why. Other teams simply doing it better. We have had every chance to be knocking on automatics door by now, we must have dropped double the amount of points from winning positions than any other team?
  21. Re Tammy, I’d rather have Benteke on loan than Tammy. I would be happy with Maupay too. It’s not the end of the world. He has shone here because of the service he gets, he failed at Swansea in the PL. He has a lot of craft to develop yet
  22. Exactly my view. last few games (without Grealish), we have looked to attack on the break rather than a possession based system, of attacks are much quicker but we lose possessi N more readily as the support isn’t there. I wonder if Sawyer is a like for like replacement so we can stick with the system?
