  1. Exactly this. Its what City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have successfully done for years, keeping the very best (who are few and far between). To balance this however, J Ramsey has emerged because he had the chance in the first team or else he may not have shown enough quickly enough to remain unsold. Those chances are not going to be afforded due to the jeopardy of every match and expectation.
  2. Played it safe, which as a CB is great, very much in the mould of Kamara. Nothing spectacular, just reassuring. I didn’t think he was turned by Danjuma, he just napped ball watching, leaving him run in behind.
  3. You would imagine that Traore offers more this season than Philgene.
  4. Looked assured and hungry today. We have t quite resolved our attack yet, and YT had little running ahead of him but he is reassuringly dependable, and always threatens to do something. He is funding his place ( as are most actually), very excited by his arrival and think he starts on Wednesday.
  5. Great but left wanting more, we still haven’t clicked, sounds crazy. Fantastic result, great that Duran got his goal, but another long term injury for Phil, he was looking sharp too. Looking forward to Wednesday….
  6. It’s like a library inside VP. I can hear Emery from my sofa.
  7. McGinn has been awesome today, head and shoulders MOM.
  8. Archer time. Against Newcastle, they roared them on and continued to attack in wave after wave for 90+ minutes. We have relaxed since taking control.
  9. In fairness it’s fine margins, he does so much right, but today it just isn’t his day.
  10. Yes!! Hopefully Bailey rediscovers his mojo now!
  11. Went a bit flat last 15 minutes, crowd need to do their bit to gee this up. Still a little rusty in the middle, Bailey sorely lacking in confidence still. Would like to see Tielemans given a decent outing. But all good, complacency might cost us, we should be at least 4 up by now, Diaby’s volley could have been a VP legend if it went in. Hopefully we can get one more and try out Duran/Archer.
  12. Hopefully he is finding his feet. Like Archer, perhaps needs a little time to start to blossom. And for me the word “attackive” is not used enough in the English language.
  13. Super excited by this, I mean properly excited. Fingers crossed, but this guy is a baller. Handled well he could be our Cantona. Doesnt strike me initially as an Emery player but what do I know? He could be a legend if he finds his feet and stays fit. I am very excited
  14. You can’t leave at it that: is it ‘Stewart’ or ‘Stevvart’?
  15. Don’t know what to expect as a lot of cold water and pessimism has been thrown on his talent, but my god if he can recover 80% of his ability then we have some player. He reminds me of Bale a bit, that irrepressible rampaging running with a hellova shot on him too. Fingers crossed….
  16. Cool. Left field signing (no pun intended), reads well and hopefully another solid addition. Never warmed to Digne, but he never let us down to be fair.
  17. My sentiment too, the Buendia and particularly Mings have really put a dampener on the season already. I’m sure we will bounce back after that result, but any serious injury is a sickener.
  18. Defensively yes maybe, but Mings is terrible offensively for such a tall guy, it’s the biggest thing missing from his game.
  19. I expected him to become the #1 CB during the course of this season as Emery evolved this season with the new players, out of necessity this is accelerated now with Mings out. It’s a baptism of fire but might benefit us in 10 games time or so? He was bought to upgrade the team, add something Mings doesn’t have.
  20. I think I’ll come back to this tomorrow, I’m getting dizzy….
  21. For everyone saying this is an overreaction you are wrong, this was a humiliation, despite Mings injury. Emery and the team will be in shock, this was never on the agenda and Emery plans in a big way, he is not complacent. Hopefully it’s a one off, but the scoreline didn’t flatter Newcastle, at 3-1 many called more goals, it was a collapse.
  22. Total disaster performance. I thought we wouldn’t get beaten by more than two again under Emery. The window is open, Monchi needs to get busy as we have had our trousers pulled down today and we have nothing to respond to this. Worst performance under Emery, and after last season, preseason and our summer signings that’s sobering. Bottom of the league with everything to do.
  23. Really, really poor. Absolutely thumped with no reply. We look a terrible team today. Surely an aberration, but zero positives today nothing to build on, that’s a week of prep and a game that’s in the bin..
