  1. As I said when he was hired, if he earns us promotion we are not going to turn around and sack him for that. He will have earned his chance to take the first season.
  2. I think there are a number of people who are anti globalisation and the homogenisation it brings. I am not sure if that totally explains the anti cultural appropriation thing but it probably feeds into it. I'm with you though, share the best bits of everyone's culture and we will live in the best possible world IMO.
  3. We are going to rue not scoring with all this pressure
  4. Hilariously he declined the role because he "feels he has no government experience". Presumably he thought he had enough experience to run for president but not actually work for the presidents administration...
  5. International managers want the full two weeks to work with their squads.
  6. The idea of a representative democracy is that we elect people whose full time job it is is to study and debate issues then come to a decision on our behalf. With direct democracy every voter has to be across every issue before making a decision. People don't have time to become as informed on issues as a person whose full time job is to do just that. In addition we have the very unreliable internet to get a lot of our information from. Direct democracy is a bad way to try to run a country.
  7. It's always white people who say "Don't overreact, it's not going to be that bad" when stuff like this happens.
  8. That graph says it all. What a terrible election cycle.
  9. I bet I can guess the chant if Mexico win a free kick just outside the box!
  10. How do you go from "Lock her up!!" to "We owe her a major debt of gratitude, and I really mean that" in a matter of hours?
  11. Another case in point just now. The guy has spent the last few weeks saying Clinton is the most corrupt candidate in history and that she should be in prison, The first thing he says in his victory speech is that she has put in 30 years of tremendous service for the country and Americans should all owe her a debt of gratitude. The guy doesn't actually believe in anything.
  12. A lot of Trump's polices do not align with traditional Republican policy (in fact he is to the left of Hillary on a number of issues like trade barriers and protectionism). He was also openly at war with the Republican establishment throughout a lot of the campaign. I don't actually know that he will have a free reign from the Republican party.
  13. That's just the point though isn't it, he is a populist. He doesn't actually believe in anything from a political point of view, he is open to saying or doing anything. The guy identified as a Democrat but decided to run as a Republican because it was an easier path. The whole 'ban Muslims' talk was just that, talk to win in the rabid Republican primaries and he changed his tune as soon as he needed to appeal to a wider crowd. What he will actually do in power we really have no idea.
  14. There is a Chinese curse that says 'May you live in interesting times'.
  15. Are you sure we have had enough time to properly make a judgement on him? A lot of players looked terrible in the early part of this season.
  16. Jedinak will be playing an international game in Thailand on the Tuesday before Fridays game. He might be knackered/jet lagged for the match.
  17. If you have the Express, the Sun and the Mail frothing at the mouth you must be doing something right!
  18. Like all our other recent manager changes before Bruce
  19. I don't think Bruce would be telling Xia what to do. Xia went back to China after the window closed, presumably to get back to his day job, and the tweets dried up about that time. I think Xia is much more 'hands off' now the money has been spent. He didn't even meet with Bruce when he was hired.
  20. Looked dominant from the highlights.
  21. Why would you boo him, that is just stupid.
  22. Can hardly remember this feeling! We are Reading's bogey team
  23. I'm just going to leave this here: From the Huffington Post http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/12191766
