No where near the player he was

Its been taken very seriously, look at the poll. Our team has improved quickly and we are going on current form. Its not a slant at Laursen but we didn`t have anywhere near the best defence in the league when he was here (I know we have a better GK and full backs now).

Terrible news for Gary, hes been doing so well too, that will set him back a bit.

I didn't think i would ever have said this but there is a chance that on this seasons form Dunney is actually better than Laursen. I bet they could have played together, what a pair that would have been.

I thought this, one day they will all play well and we might just spank someone.

I went for Youngs, the game was gone and the blue scouse were still celebrating.

I went for Blackburn purely because we scored 6 goals at home in a semi. The Tranmere one was probably better all round buy hey, Blackburn was yesterday :winkold:

I wouldn`t be so sure, what about Sunday? It has to be Cuellar and Dunne for me, they did really well together. Young has to play rb, hes by far our best player there. Collins has done pretty well but hasn`t been quite as good since he came back from his injury imo.

I went for Milner and im over the moon.

Im still not sue why Young doesnt play at rb, at least on Sunday. He so much more comfortable there. Gives us more going forward too.

Yes i think he will be he has a very similar range of attributes. He could even be a touch better at the same age, he has played more games as far as i know.

This too for me, my main frustration is the lack of trying something else. yes some of the players didn`t play wonderfully but we did put them on the back foot. When the goals not coming you do have to try something else to make it come.

What, like he did so many times against Hull yesterday? Granted it was a poor finish, the should've just hit it first time. Thats it, the main difference about us today and Spurs yesterday was that the Hull GK had to make a hat full of top class saves. Green didn`t have to make many at all today. P.S I agree Heskey is better than Carew.

This would be the single most important change we could make. I usually like Gabby and defend him but today he was poor, he needs two touches for decent strikers 1. If we play him he has to be the hold up stiker not the finisher.

Trouble is there a chance top 4 will be even further away next season especially if Man City keep spending the bucks and Liverpool might sort themselves out.

Not too much mention of why Cuellar stayed at rb? Surely this would have been a good change as he offered us nothing. Not his fault, he`s not rb.

I agree, its pretty shocking we don`t have another way of scoring seen as we have had this problem for the last 2 years at least. It will keep happening too untill we mix our play a bit and sign someone who will score when those chances come.

So stupidly frustrating. We still can`t break teams down at home, its not exactly a new thing is it? Why do we not use our subs just to try something different in these games? Gabby was so obssessed today in holding the ball up and fighting their cb`s he forgot to run the channels and take shots a goal, why take another touch ta the end? Why play a defensive rb who won`t go forward and support the attack against a team who weren`t interested in attackin us unless on the break? L.Young would have made a big difference in that game, overlapping which ever winger was on the right. I thought the defence was ok although Collins isn`t as solid as he was when he first came in, the midfield kept the ball ok at time but didn`t use Milner anywhre near well enough. A. Young was pretty terrible, not sure what his outstanding sttribute is at themoment, he didn`t do anything Albrighton couldn`t have for 30 mins today. Heskey linked play up ok untill he went off, never a big goal threat. Gabby didn`t do enough and missed two very, very good chances. Carew in the main just looks disinterested.

I think we`ve more chance of beating Utd. It would be Citys biggest game for 3 decades or something daft like that, they would be more up for it. Its just the small cup to Man Utd.

Shame we didn`t finish it off as were played the much better footy. Struggled a bit with their hoof but in the main we were pretty comfortable. At least we got the win, we will have to go again in the second leg though. Lets just hope Clatts decisions don`t cost us.
