  1. Moyes or Hughes would be great. It increasingly looks like it could be Hughes and I think it would be a good match if he came here. Sparky doesnt suffer fools and he'd soon shape that shower of shite up. Having said that half of them are down the road anyway.
  2. Paul Faulkner said it was a criteria in the search for the manager when Houllier was appointed.
  3. Interesting that Paul Lambert isnt on that list and Moyes has drifted out from 8/11.
  4. No I wouldnt want those two, I'll take Seamus Coleman over Baines as well.
  5. If Randy Lerner sticks to the moral standing of not poaching managers in work then Rafa is not the one to hire. In fact the list becomes quite short with a distinct lack of quality bar Steve McClaren.
  6. Are you a Time Lord? As this post (and your username) are most definitely from the past ;-) Bicks is right. Furthermore spurts have got boat loads of money. Haringey council are trying to hold them to ransom over the new stadium but its posturing by both sides. With 20,000 (conservative estimate) on a season ticket waiting list, they sit a little pretty.
  7. You have to put this in perspective. They made a market and probably havent taken twopence halpenny on it. Installing Moyes at 8/11 is bait more than anything, making people think this is a 'good thing' . What you have to do is second guess Lerner and who you think he'll go for and more importantly get. Moyes would be great but I wouldnt be overly confident of him coming here and even less so throwing money at it.
  8. Not a heart attack but an 'aortic dissection' whilst at liverpool. Without wanting to second guess the situation I would imagine the process of appointing a new manager will be nearby.
  9. You may as well watch rugby league as watch stoke. They're a dirty team too. How long does it take to take a corner or a throw in? Foy (referee) was inept beyond belief and he let them stall the game to nothing. pulis wanted a point and no injuries and got them Lots and lots of Police on the Witton Lane after the game ....anyone know why?
  10. Who are the good options and who do you want?
  11. Steve McClaren is the one for me. Out of those available he's got a good CV, he's vastly experienced and is a good tactician.
  12. Hah, kind of answered your own question there really Indeed, it happens to all strikers, so no matter who we had on our books, it would no doubt happen to them too. I'll admit, there was a time when I wasn't a believer. I used to think he was a waste at Spurs, but he's definitely a poacher and we have needed someone who knows where the back of the net is for ages now. I'm definitely over the moon we have him. Number 9 for next season, I don't care if Ireland is still here (hopefully not though). No im basically saying - what will he offer to the team? When rooney is not scoring for example, we know he can offer other things. Im yet to see in bulk what darren Bent can offer when hes not scoring - thats all. Hopefully he doesnt have a streak. To my mind Bent offers huge amounts to the team play. When we dont have the ball he comes deep, when we do have it he's pulling defenders out of position all over the place and much more. This 'all he does is score goals' thing is just VT myth.
  13. With the service from Ash and Downing :winkold: Downing is staying. Replace Ash with N'zogbia and Bent will get 20+. :winkold:
  14. Tell Walker that. I saw many times when Walker busted a gut to support, ran past Downing without receiving the pass, then have to sprint back as Downing lost the ball and jogged lazily to his usual empty space on the pitch. The man simply does not mark. He doesn't get back. He doesn't track and he rarely tackles. Even West Ham noticed this, as all their (albeit rare) threatening forward plays went down our right. Contrast that to the work of Ashley Young yesterday and how much tighter we were down our left with the 2 Youngs. Being good going forward is one thing, and Downing is superb at that. But you have to work harder when we don't have the ball and I just don't ever see Downing doing that. You dont have to tell me that (see earlier this thread ) But credit where its due, he is getting better. I would like to see him shoot more (on target).
  15. fixed that for you He has been tackling and working hard for the team. Going forward he's as good as anyone and is getting better and better.
  16. Yes Makoun on for Heskey, Delph (for NRC) not on as he's injured, thought everyone was fit?
  17. Thats the shout. Go 4-3-3, possibly bring Delph on for Reo-Coker.
  18. Not a prayer (dont want him) and Moyes and Coyle wont be coming either. So from mark's 'cracking choice' we've got Lambert or Poyet. Lambert would be OK but Poyet I'm not sure. Doesnt matter anyhow as Houllier will be staying.
  19. Hi General. Could I refer you to this - Day at Bodymoor Heath and could you get Randy to have a look too please. Russell Jones, Nicky Keye and Katrina Adamson were all just great and I'd like to thank them for their hard work and a wonderful day.
  20. He wasnt great, he wasnt bad. The through ball again to Bent and it should have stood.
  21. One goal was Walkers fault, the other Makoun's Dunne & Collins actually played OK tbh Oh come on Collins should have tackled or put some challenge in on him. I dont know what to make of the blame Makoun for something he didnt do thing anymore.
