  1. Just the Houllier signings then Tricky?...
  2. This is the only conclusion I can come to. Their arguments that tantamount to 'it wasnt a penalty but its Makoun's fault any way' beggars belief.
  3. He didnt stick his foot out. Jagielka kicked Makoun while he was half way to ground. Blatant simulation.
  4. So you're blaming him for something he didnt do to suit yourself? Reminds me of
  5. This is right General. Never... Ever... Claret shorts or socks. Blue away shorts and the home socks should be blue with claret and blue and white trim. Thanks.

Tigers lost yesterday. I cant quite work out if the pitching is better or worse than last season.
  7. We can't afford for him to find his feet in a relgation battle though. His last three games have seen him sent off, he was dreadful against Wolves, and he gave away a shit penalty that cost us two points against Everton. I'm not writing him off, but at the moment he's an unaffordable liability. I agree he needs time to settle in, let him do that with sub appearances and in pre-season if we stay up. At the moment he's contributing bugger all to the cause, in fact quite the opposite. You've let yourself down there because apart from the fact he wasnt shit against wolves (the ball through to Young and then Young missed, not Makoun's fault)) - Makoun didnt give away a penalty at Everton. Jagielka dived and kicked Makoun on the way down. To say we cant afford him in a relegation battle is like saying we cant afford the whole back four - and they are shit.
  8. Good money but considerably less than Petrov and Reo-Coker, approximately £2m and £4m respectively. to say he hasnt had a positive impact on games is ridiculous. He still had the best pass completion rate of any of our midfielders against Everton.
  9. Well before he arrived my opinion was along the lines of never seen him play but why are we buying a central midfielder when our need is far greater elsewhere. After he arrived and played at Wigan it was, he'll need time to settle in, he's way off the pace but he'll do much better at United because he'll be more used to their pace of the game. And now my view is much the same. Why did we buy him, we have plenty of cover in this position, right now he's playing and Delph isn't. Petrov too is available and there are others perfectly capable of doing a job too. I don't hate him, I think he can come good but he will need time and in the midst of a relegation battle we can't afford that luxury I see what you're saying but I do feel GH had to buy someone as the depth of quality in the position is weak. We get over run there and still do. I'm not keen on NRC and I can still see Gardner playing this season. There are other positions in need of replenishment like the whole defence you're right.
  10. Sorry but I made than 9 players in C&B better than Makoun, ten if you include Heskey who at least won a foul in his 25 seconds on the pitch. Only player worse than Makoun yesterday was Walker. You dont like Makoun. I know that. You'd be making that up in your head then. At no point have I ever said that, what I haven't done is call him superb, or any of those other superlatives that really don't apply most of the time when he has played, so far he's had one great game (Man Utd), one above average game game (Fulham) and the rest of the time, he has looked like he needs time to adjust to the PL. It's no coincidence that his better games have come against two of the less physical sides in the league. In fact I think I said he'd play much better against United before the game, which he did, I've also said we won't see the best of him this season and I really don't think we will but I've never said I don't like him, I just don't guild the lilly when it comes to assessing a players performance. Yesterday only Walker was worse for us. He was actually lucky to be on the pitch, I think even he thought he was going to be sent off for the foul for which he was booked, then he gave away a pen (albeit very dubious, but he was naive to stick his foot in where and when he did) and some of his passing was definitely not that good. His heading ability also seems, well, non existent when his feet are off the ground. He's used to much more time on the ball and it will take time, he could do with being dropped and Petrov coming back in to the team for a while, then he can come on fresh when Petrov tires, he will then get up to speed in a more gradual way and still get decent game time. But no, I've never said I don't like him. I didnt say you had admitted to not liking him, I was working on the evidence given before and after he (Makoun) arrived. Did you ever accept that he got injured early on against wigan? I believe the 'superlatives' are being dreamt up by you. What do think you can get £4m? ..Kaka? You pinned your colours to the Petrov mast and while the Bulgarian can frustrate me, I was never one to prolong the castigation. Petrov was given some considerable time and I hope Makoun can afford half as much grace.

  12. Quite right mate. My only mitigation is speckled hen and brain damage.
  13. First there were at least five others on the pitch a lot worse than Jean ll Makoun yesterday and the ball over the top to Bent for the second was brilliant. Edit and Young's ball was good too
  14. Well as an added kick in the nuts dont assume on the prices being cheaper. When the Baggies were relegated their season tickets went up in price. They dont want to put the ST prices up even if we stay in the prem. Any idea when the ST prices will be released? Is it normally after the end of the season? Its usually about 3/4 weeks before the end of the season. I doubt they'll say anything while we're in danger of going down. I do know that an easier and longer payment scheme is in the pipeline. Possibly a direct debit thing.

  16. I can see Moyes leaving this summer. I can also see Everton letting him go for the right compensation. As much as he's done at Goodison, there's a kind of feeling in the air that maybe its time for both to part ways. Moyes probably has ambitions of his own that he won't be able to fulfil at Everton due to the ever tighter budget there. Everton may also feel its time for a fresh face and fresh ideas Would you be happy with Moyes?
  17. I cant see Moyes leaving them for one and they wouldnt let him go either. The corrie actor is on a sticky wicket there as it is and if Moyes went then that would be the end for him. Coyle has already jumped ship to the prem club he played for. Again they wouldnt let him go and I dont think he'd want to leave either. Nothing's impossible though and Moyes would be the easier to get but Lambert would be a cheaper and better option imo. And McClaren could be better still.
  18. Yes but he's gettable. Moyes and Coyle arent gettable and they arent coming. Whether Hughes would be worth any sort of compensation I wouldnt like to say but I do think he has a future. Rafa  Fat Sam  Hughes :|
  19. Wait till we've been beaten by Everton. And if we beat Everton? We'll get a much needed 3 points and GH will still be here. Birds will sing, peace will break out in the middle east and there will be a reversal in global warming. I dont think they'll sack him. If we lose he may walk but I doubt it.
  20. Wait till we've been beaten by Everton.
  21. That's great but Moyes and Coyle are highly unlikely to come here either now or in the summer. Martin Jol would be more than a gamble for me. If we stay up Lambert or McClaren for me. Assuming Moyes has had enough of being given 2 bob and Ginsters pasty to play with at Everton, where else would he go? Man Utd? Fergie's not going anywhere, and when he does it'll likely be Mourinho who replaces him. Even if Moyes did have his eyes on that job, his CV would look better if he'd achieved some success and possibly won some trophies with another club. Chelsea? Nope. Arsenal? No. Citeh? No. Spurs? No. Liverpool? Looks like Kenny will be getting that job, and I doubt he'd want to cross Stanley Park. I'd argue that we're the most attractive club in the league to manage after this lot. We just need to make sure we stay in the league. I wouldnt discount citeh, although unlikely but I can see him going to spurs quite easily. Other than that you're assuming he would want to come to Villa. I'd like him here too but I just cant see it.

  23. Agree with all of that. Trouble is its going to be summer earliest. And if we get relegated not then either. Didn’t Taylor come to a relegated club from a club in the then first division? Do you see Lambert doing it?
