  1. Graham Taylor as an advisor/ambassador type role is good shout. Or just ask his advice now.
  2. This is how i also feel Gilberto, its a short term fix is what i want. They wouldnt have sweaty sam thank ****. Good job your not in charge francis.
  3. The more I think about it the more I'd have Steve McClaren. He wants to prove a few things and isnt afraid to upset ego's. Best suited to the English game, he could be very beneficial for the future.
  4. This typifies the modern day footballer. I dont see why I should pay to see these rocket polishers? Does anyone else?
  5. Steve McClaren would do a job and put the big ego's in place. Or at least bring him in as coach. He'd bring a wealth of experience, a calm head and a sense of humour.
  6. I doubt Lambert will come now. He isnt going to swap a moment in the sun for a moment in the shit. He is the one though and mighty dollar may work. I'd like to see him knock a few heads together
  7. What Demitri says plus Young was terrible and should have been subbed at half time. Houllier should have changed it and put Young on the wing. Downing decided to duck the issue again. I'm afraid when the chips are down Downing isnt one for the trenches. We're in big trouble and the fizzy league beckons.
  8. Played well. If Downing hadnt missed a sure thing goal and Young a penakty...we win.
  9. Unfortunately those other incidents are his job. That's what he's there for. That's exactly my point. If he's stopping goals then 'so he should'. But if he's causing them then he's a liability. Call it harsh and thankless but that's the life of a defender. Yes but someone should have stopped YaYa from practising dropping balls on a sixpence for the second goal. I understand you're 'mistakes you're remembered for', however he wasnt a liability at Left Back and nor was he having another bottom punctured as some thought.
  10. I disagree. As much as I like seeing Delph in the team, the fact is that he cost us 1 goal last night and I think he might have been fairly responsible for a 2nd (though I have to watch again). Defenders are judged on their mistakes, not what they do right - in that sense it's the total opposite of a forward. Richard Dunne can make 20 headers or clearances in a match but if he makes one balls-up for a goal then that's what gets remembered. Delph is playing in a position where his mistakes will be costly for the team. And he will make those mistakes, it's only normal. For me, Clark has to go back to leftback and one of Collins or Cuéllar goes in alongside Dunne. He did play him onside but I wouldnt blame him solely for the goal. He cleared off the line (68.27) and intercepted to stop a certain goal (34.54) Now he's match fit back into midfield. Clark must stay where he is now. Villa's number 1 CB.
  11. He played Balotteli onside for the second goal and richards muscled past him once. All in all he did well again in the makeshift position. He made a great pass to gabby (48.40 minutes) that should have been a goal chance. I know they picked on Chris Herd but Delph accomplished himself well enough. Another game under his belt and a return to midfield would be most welcome.
  12. The above article confirms his lack of tackling which is OK but it should be noted he doesnt like being tackled. As some have mentioned and I did in this thread some time ago, without knowing I would say it is almost certainly down to the foot injury. The article goes on to say 'cross two footed' and I'm not so sure of the right footd cross. Which doesnt matter really and I know that Houllier likes it to be narrow. Then it goes on to say 'the odd wasted cross' and again thats ok but three free kicks against citeh and none on target. His continued improvement and good form have made me become an admirer but free kicks on target please DJ. Good article you're right Maradonna, well balanced and intelligent.
  13. How many times have I got to say 'I know he's not a left back'..??? If he plays at left back on Wdnesday and he gets turned over then Houllier had better change it. I dont 'know' ..they are my thoughts and opinion thats all. Now is that alright with you?
  14. There's no needto shout deary, we know he's not a left back but when you haven't got any others (see Saturday...did you?) then he did better than OK as a makeshift. I just happen to think that he wouldnt let us down if it were to arise again. Got it? No i didnt see Saturday because i had more important things to be doing. Yes from what i can gather on MOTD and such like he preformed admirally but was never really tested, where as against Man City he will be run ragged. Silva or Milner is a bit different than playing against a shite Blackburn team! How do you know he wouldnt let us down? On the coaching staff are we? Best pals with him are we? He has only played left back once in his career and that was Saturday against a very very average team, and yet you think he could do a job against Man City!?!? You seem to have trouble understanding what I've written ........ If we've got no one else then what do you want to do? If you are thinking of anoter player then fine say so. You're making yourself look silly posting this. this is a forum and I was expressing my thoughts on the matter. Grow up son.
  15. While I agree that Clark is defo a better CB, needs must for this game. For the benefit of the team, we need him at leftback. Johnson is injured and someone said Silva is too, is that right? Which could mean Milner on the right. I'd let Delph carry on. Silva isnt injured and Delph would get destroyed by Milner. HE ISNT A LEFT BACK!!! There's no need to shout deary, we know he's not a left back but when you haven't got any others (see Saturday...did you?) then he did better than OK as a makeshift. I just happen to think that he wouldnt let us down if it were to arise again. Got it?
  16. Argh, please no no no no. I'm fed up taking players that are hugely effective in one position and putting them somewhere else. If we put Downing in the hole, we lose his runs the length of the pitch on the wing because more often he will be up there waiting for the winger's run/pass. Downing must stay where he is. There's a reason he has been our best player this season. It's because he is suited to where he is. Moving him somewhere else is bloody madness. Hey I'm not advocating it I was throwing it up in the air as they say in sales meetings. The prompt was he started on the left against blackburn and moved over to the right quite quick. This was a VT criticism on Houllier of playing players out of position. Does he prefer the right? I think Gardner will play the hole in time and I reckon Ash knows it.
  17. I'd take Walker over Hutton anyday of the week. Unfortunately I think Harry's thinking may echo this by the end of the season. I'd take Walker as well. Apart from that if you go on the spits message boards you'll get and idea of what he's like. I wouldnt touch him and I dont rate him either.

  19. This may be the case but I would be loathed to move Clark from CB again and see him as our number 1 centre back. Over Collins? too right!!
  20. This may be the case but I would be loathed to move Clark from CB again and see him as our number 1 centre back.
  21. He's trouble and thats why they want him gone. Does Walker have recall on him?
  22. Better class indeed, David Silva likes to swap wings (he goes all over) and could give Fabian something of a migrain.
  23. I just thought he was disciplined and brought so much to the role. Make no mistake Delph can tackle and you cant say that about everyone at Villa. The thing is I dont mind (like) players who put themselves about and I reckon Nani would be on a stretcher before he went past Delph. You need to judge players over more than one game. NRC for instance did have a great game against Ronaldo, but then in the 5 nil loss to liverpool he was murdered all game by the legend that is Albert Riera. Delph had a good game and it is certainly worth seeing what he can bring to the role but i would now install him as a starting left back. The standard of the opposition was very poor and they had no wingers of note. Would be interesting to see how he gets on against Adam Johnson on Wednesday night. He previously taught us that Clark isnt as good a left back as we first thought. No I wouldnt play him left back forevermore either, you have to read my original post. I do think he played there very well though. Johnson is injured for citeh I think and it will be interesting to see if Houllier is as keen to play Delph at left back again. Personally I would.
  24. Will Downing end up playing in the 'hole' if Ash goes?
