  1. I can hold on to the spread of hope that a deal can be done, get him on a plane!!
  2. It’s possible, but I would say unlikely with Carney being a more attack-minded midfielder.
  3. This just seems a no brainier for me if he’s willing to come and the wages aren’t ridiculous, can play in midfield and offers CB cover.
  4. It’s one of those that is so random that you feel it must have legs? He’s quite vocal against the United hierarchy so I doubt he’s trying to make this up only for United to ‘win the race’ for him.
  5. Perhaps the Aaron Ramsey loan was a sweetener? That’s of course if it is us involved.
  6. Good little move this. Excited to see what Cameron can do in the championship!
  7. I’m not even saying anything about Martinez. I’ll leave it here, this forum stuff just isn’t for me anymore as I just don’t want the confrontation and I feel like I just end up having words put in my mouth. This has all stemmed from me stating on Saturday that I think Mings needs moving on in the summer, not a ‘get out of my club’ like a lot of fans these days, a thank you for your tremendous service to our club. I think Tyrone is an outstanding person, but he’s just not a good enough player on the ball for what I would like - but that is what it is when it all comes down to it, it’s just my opinion, it’s not Steven Gerrard’s opinion.
  8. I didn’t think it would be easy, and as I’ve mentioned in reply to another post perhaps it’s Konsa that needs improving on so Mings can concentrate on playing to his strengths.
  9. You may be on to something there. A cb who could bring the ball/play the ball out of defence leaving Mings to concentrate on playing to his strengths may be the route that gets taken.
  10. So is it not possible to feel that we can improve on Mings without it being racially motivated or having an agenda?
  11. It definitely is starting to feel like we are finding a gap in the market that can work for us - good players who have hit a bit of sticky form at clubs, that are still of an age to offer something and become great again. If that’s who we want, then I’m happy with that.
  12. Sorry, I didn’t explain that very well. What I’m trying to say is that we would have to replace his leadership rather than just bringing in a cb.
  13. That’s a fair assessment OBE, apart from not being so sure that the good outweighs the bad. We are reliant on his leadership imo, almost overly so as shown in games he misses through injuries/suspension. We would need to replace him with a natural leader (if we did indeed replace him).
  14. Fair enough. I’m not trying to bait people, I’m grateful for his service so far but I feel we need a better footballer in his position. My bias is beyond redemption? What on earth are you on about?
  15. I will just have to agree to disagree with you. He was far from excellent for me, gives away needless fouls, and is just far too casual and slack on the ball for me. I can assure you that I am not one for getting on the players backs, but we will not improve with him at the back.
  16. The biggest job of the summer will be replacing Mings’ leadership at the back, because he simply has to be moved on. I’ve been patient with him, but he’s simply not good enough anymore.
  17. Completely agree mate. Dean will always have a special place in my heart as a supporter of our great club, but we just feel like a different outfit now under Gerrard - both on and off the pitch. Such exciting times to be a fan of Aston Villa!
  18. I just get the impression that there is a BIG change of culture around the football club.
  19. I’ve got to be honest, I’m in this camp. The guy is fantastic, and knows the league. We sign him, we’re in with a great shout of getting top 6 next season.
  20. According to Simon Dobson on Twitter (a football journalist with 33.4K followers) “Bissouma is Aston Villa’s number one target after Digne. Gerrard wants him as soon as possible and believes he would improve the team massively. Brighton convinced he isn’t leaving but every player has a price.”
  21. We’re trying to improve our global profile mate, it’s quite a coup really as I would’ve expected him to link up with his old mate Van Der Beek at Old Trafford.
  22. Is it possible that our interest has distracted him, and they feel he isn’t 100%? I appreciate there is a certain amount of putting 2+2 together in that theory, mainly out of optimism. If we can get Bissouma and a CB on loan to cover Axel’s departure then this will have been an outstanding window, well on paper at least!
