  1. You missed the point made in the season with us that it was a stress fracture, stress fractures are loading issues ie over training caused the issue, that is not a chronic injury.
  2. Maybe, but I also believe if you have a strong sports medicine team, these things should be minimalists. The average person doesn’t realise that some people continue to grow until they are 26. What if he is a late developer and his growing was a contributing factor to the injuries two seasons ago? It is more likely than being a crock.
  3. Yes but how did he miss those games? If you break down the season, he only missed 4 games last season through injury, the previous season was horrendous I agree, but if you look at the season he was with us, he was out with a stress fracture, that is caused by overloading and not the same as being a crock. He had one bad injury season out of the three, sometimes some context is needed.
  4. There were games last season where Luiz made the trains run, a lot of fans didn’t notice it and goes unrewarded. He is still very young and hasn’t had a break for nearly 2 seasons and the best DM’s don’t mature until they are around 25/26 years of age, he has some time. But I also agree we need something different to protect the back 4 when we are under more pressure, we know the games.
  5. It’s also terrible when some don’t get their facts right because they’ve created a narrative on what they believe a player is. If they looked they would notice that the player was only reported injured for 4 games of last years PL season and another 4 games where he was out of the squad, for every other game he either played or was in the squad, hardly injury prone. He played 90 against PSG and 45 in a couple of games in the CL he played in 5 of Utd 6 games, plus Europa league games etc. He’s a squad player in the second best team in the country, but apparently not good enough for Villa, who doesn’t meet the injury prone narrative, laughable.
  6. Yeah ok, if he wasn’t good enough he wouldn’t be at manure, they have a habit of releasing their own who aren’t up to the level required. Your not even serious when you make statements, maybe check your facts on how many games and who he played against.
  7. There’s a risk with any player being brought in in transfer, but focussing on what if’s or maybes has nothing to do with the players ability. He’s played CL football he isn’t coming to be a 4th stringer.
  8. I think you’ll find it had more to do with not trusting Engels anymore, hence his quick exit in the Summer. If they sign Tuanzebe, their not signing him as a back up, he’s their to create competition. Tuanzebe can sit on the bench at Utd if he wanted to, he will expect to play if good enough.
  9. Your assuming he will be out injured without even giving him the opportunity, it’s ridiculous. The coaching staff will be undertaking their due diligence and know a lot more about him. People have short memories, Mings was out for long periods as well before he joined Villa.
  10. He’s not going to be the 4th.choice CB, he’s there as competition for Konsa. Cant believe people are focussing on his injuries, rather than his ability.
  11. Luckily that’s what the coaching team is for. A lot of these players didn’t have PL experience and it takes time to adapt to the speed and physicality. I anticipate some of these players will improve again with 2 seasons under their belts.
  12. He’s an intelligent player and potentially our best midfielder, his reading of the game will help us press higher up the pitch.
  13. Pep Guardiola in 2009: ”Modern football sometimes makes me sad. Nowadays there can be more focus on big-name signings rather than promoting youth and that makes me sad. Why buy a striker for £50 million when there is one waiting in the youth team?” No way they go for Messi…
  14. We’ve all been emotional the last few days, but when the dust settles we support Aston Villa, not just one player. We had a personal connection to Jack because of his background, but we now know that connection only went one way. Its disappointing, but we are now only 2-3 players away from having a very good football team and I couldn’t be more excited.
  15. One summer transfer period, doesn’t make up for the last 25 years.
  16. I think Tuanzebe is supposed to coming in on a loan.
  17. What are you thinking mate, two more signings? Either another wide player or AM and a DM? Suddenly looks a better squad than last season.
  18. Pfft, when I used to run, it would be six, with a cut up banana and honey, now I would look at that and feel full…
  19. I don’t buy into Villa are a one man team, no team is. Our defence was still very good during the period Grealish was injured, it was our creativity and taking our chances which were the issues. These issues now appear to be solved. Ive had my dummy spit and moved on, he’s gone to the soulless. Villa are bigger than any one person, we are only 2-3 signings away from a very exciting team and hopefully Smith can make us even better than last season.
  20. Well this signing seems to have changed the mood. A little surprised to wake up this morning and see that we’ve signed Ings, as I spat out my weetbix. A few of us have been saying we needed a second striker, the argument seemed to stall around Abraham, but Ings is top quality. He can take the pressure of Watkins, while helping him become a better player and the competition can only be good for the team. I know what my next jersey purchase will be.
  21. McGinn, Emi could both do the job, aren’t prone to the odd howler and respected by the rest of the players.
  22. Don’t know if I agree with that, the rumours where around prior to the Euros saying a deal was done, someone in the know just went off early. IMO, it was agreed last year when Manure were interested, he signed the new contract, but with the release clause as he wanted to go as long as someone stumped up the cash. The club has kept this quiet.
