  1. Argentina Olympic team could have used Alvarez tonight, just got spanked by Australia 2-0 could have been 4-0. Apparently River wouldn’t release him.
  2. Your right, there’s a lot of clubs in Spain, Germany and France that have to undertake fire sales to balance the books and the only ones saleable are their best assets. Barca need to sell to raise cash and pay Messi’s wage etc etc. There are some very good players available that even some top clubs in the Premier League can’t afford, if we have the money ready, there’s some game changers available.
  3. I hope the rumours are true, this is an exciting signing, good in tight spaces, direct and plays heads up football, also handy in dead ball situations. As some have already stated, if he signs Grealish will most likely play more centrally.
  4. I wouldn’t of said no to Tammy, as I believe Ollie needs competition and in some parts of the season a rest. But as I said many many pages ago I thought the club had moved on from him. Wesley deserves the opportunity, time will tell whether he gets back to the player he potentially is.
  5. Gil’s a better player than McNeil at similar ages, and a far better CV, can play anywhere across the front as an attacking midfielder, easily in that £35-40m bracket. I hate to say it but a good bit of business by Spurs, get rid of a 29 yo in the last year of his contract and upgrade with a very good 20 yo Spanish international with his best years in front of him.
  6. They would because you have to understand the history of the aboriginal people, which clearly you don't. They migrated into Australia thousands of years ago and had no impact by any other culture for those thousands of years. No changes to agriculture, infrastructure, architecture, building, modes of transport etc etc. Most places in the world by the 1700's had been touched by another civilization and adopted parts of their culture. At the start of the first colony, they had a significant learning curve and it was extremely difficult for them to adapt to a modern civilization. Some still have challenges today. If your going to try to be smart, at least understand the subject which you are going to debate, but then again your only interested in point scoring, not debate.
  7. I have a problem with the media in general because they don't report the facts, just what will get viewers or clicks. I couldn't give you a timeline, we are a multi-cultural society and each of those cultures has their own psyche within the Australian experiment, its not a one size fits all. But you can't judge Australians by your own standards, with an untrained ear, not knowing the context, history or their background. Many people around the world made simplistic assumptions, like yourself, based on the comments of Fraser Anning. That says more about the people who believed the media's narrative than being interested and understanding why and in which context the comments were made. His comment was insensitive, not racist. Just because someone speaks plainly and isn't politically correct, doesn't mean they are a racist. I know when I hear racist comments, I used to travel frequently for work. One week in Darwin, the next in Alice Springs, Cairns, Adelaide etc etc. But its far less common than the narrative your projecting.
  8. Of course you find holes in my post, because you would have to stop and think, rather than changing views formed on BBC articles, Google and your brothers wife's 3 year experience in the country! Your problem is you take comments literally rather than the scope and meaning of what they were intended and in the context they were intended. You called Australia a racist country it is not, You infer details that aren't there. Not everything is black and white, a handful of racist comments does not make a racial nation. You use the term final solution based on a BBC article not knowing the context or the way it was intended, it was insensitive. So you know for certain by reading a BBC article that he was saying it as the Nazi final solution, not as a country we need to come up with a final solution to solve the illegal immigration issue? How arrogant are you? Do you really believe that he wanted all illegal immigrants to be executed, really, is that what you believe? If you had any idea of Australian politics you would know that illegal immigration has been a flash point on both sides of the political divide for the past 30 years, but of course you know everything because you read an article on the BBC website. The one nation party is not a racist party. They have made statements which trigger those on the left because if they had the chance we would have open borders and anyone could come into the country. Before you go calling someone racist, maybe go and read everything they have said then form your opinion. She has made comments about other nationalities that they don't assimilate when they come to the country, people have been triggered by that, but is what she said true, absolutely, could she communicate it better, absolutely. Was wearing a burka a stunt, absolutely, but her point was why are these woman being forced to wear a burka in Australia? People of the left become triggered and call the comments racist, no she just says what some are thinking, that these woman shouldn't be forced to wear the burka in public. Your obviously in favor of it as you haven't said bo peep! She was interested in woman being oppressed, muslim woman, if you can point to the other oppressed woman in Australia, I will send the Senator an email, (PS she has come out for woman who are abused by their husbands, she has come out for woman who have husbands who dont pay their alamony etc etc, I'm sure the BBC didn't report these things or you just didnt think it suited your narrative). I'm sure the BBC have something made up for you to read. My comments regarding invasion were in the context of the First Fleet of approx. 1,500 people, of which approx. 780 were convicts and and the rest were soldiers, botanists, cooks, civil officers and free people etc etc. Just doesn't meet the definition of invasion, nor was it the intent of the British, the intent was a penal colony because of the overloaded jails from people stealing bread. You call your comments facts, but they aren't based on anything relative, historical or even from different sources, maybe read a book or three, rather than googling your opinion. Racism is not simple it is complex, the one thing worse than a racist is the person who calls someone a racist, not because they've said or done anything racist, because they disagree or don't like what the person said.
  9. Ah, so you quote news from media organisations to support your point of view? They wouldn’t have an agenda, would they? The BBC would get there news from the ABC in Australia and they are Left leaning. Again, he worded his comments poorly by using the term final solution, it was insensitive, not racist and as I said he was chased out of parliamanet. Don’t talk about he was elected unless you understand how the senate works. It goes on parties, parties get votes and seats are appointed on the percentage of the vote, if I remember correctly his party received about 0.7 more votes than the 4th Labor candidate in that state. Also he commented in his speech about the muslims issues with terrorist radicalisation and how we need to be careful who we let into the country, wanna guess how many terrorist plots the federal police have uncovered and how many of these Australian muslims went over to fight with Isis? Surprised you missed this…. I didn’t say she was interested in woman’s rights, she was interested in people being oppressed, maybe do some proper research, rather than quoting snippets that support your narrative. These woman were in Australia, a free country, we don’t have the religious restrictions of some middle eastern countries who allow this discrimination under religious law. It was a stunt, the media play it up and you fell for it. You call Australia racist then you quote a politician undertaking a stunt to highlight their religious persecution as evidence, really? The problem with your point of the aborigines is there is two narratives, there’s the lefts mantra which says it was invaded, but the reality is history tells us that a penal colony was set up. It took decades in negotiation with local tribesman/ elders where small settlements moved out beyond those penal colonies, but there was no invasion, they weren’t enslaved. Some people who understand history would also tell you that Holland was the first country to come across Western Australia and could have settled like they did in South Africa, which potentially been far worse than a British penal colony, sorry invasion. Any country could have come across Australia and colonised it, but the British with their history in Africa and elsewhere and there anti-slavery stance was a far far better outcome than what may of occurred with some other countries. The point being at some point someone would have found Australia whether in the 1800s or early 1900s, what if it had been the Germans, Japanese, Chinese, something far worse may of occurred. What you also gloss over was the introduction of Mabo legislation in the past 40 years, the prime minister saying sorry in parliament to the lost generation children taken away from their parents, the high court awarding compensation for lands that had been taken from aboriginal people, $300m annually to support these communities to improve education, in areas where there local abaoriginal tribes the elders play roles in local council for development approvals, etc etc etc. Australia over the past 60-70 years has gone out of its way to try to correct the wrongs on the previous 150 years, it’s not perfect, some of those decisions were believed to been in in good faith to help the aboriginal people at the time, but this country is certainly not acting as a racist one, as you have inferred and is continually looking to make changes. The only people who use the word invaded in this country are those on the left hand side of politics, not surprising that it’s a term you used considering your defence of your buddies at BLM. It’s a term used to divide Australians and make things out to be worse than what things actually are. Those people aren’t interested in history or makings things for the better, just wanting to tear things down. The problem you have is that we all came from the same valley in Africa, they were all black and as they moved out over the planet some developed lighter skin to suit the climate. So while you quote white, because it’s divisive and suits your narrative, we all came from the same place.
  10. Wow did you come up with that all yourself, or did your mum write it for you? What I’ve noticed is you accept people calling racist when there is no evidence to support it, just because they disagree with others opinions. That’s more an indictment on yourself. Follow the mob, don’t think for yourself.
  11. I think that’s right mate. That may be a better way to put it that some supporters are still under the misapprehension that it is related and they didn’t buy what Southgate was selling. They aren’t right or wrong, they just need to be brought along to understand that this gesture is from the players hearts.
  12. So you need google to make a point and use your brothers wife’s 3 years in Australia of what she may or may not of experienced. Ok champ. You misquoted Fraser Anning as that wasn’t what he was inferring to, but was thrown out of Parliamanet never to be seen or heard of again. Pauline Hanson has undertaken stunts before, they are stunts. The question she was asking is why are these woman being forced by their husbands to wear burkas in public, they are in Australia, there is no religious need for them to wear it, isn’t that why they came to the Australia to avoid persecution? These woman are oppressed it is well reported, she was trying to stop their oppression. There isn’t any part of the world that hasn’t been invaded by another race, but Australia is the only country that gives $300m per year to improving the education and standards of the aboriginal people, we have many aboriginals who are great sportsman, artists , politicians etc and my best friend since primary school is also an aboriginal, his name is David. David would say your extremely wide of the mark with regards to assumptions of racism of the aboriginal people. Yes they have challenges, but they are in part because they were a hunter gather people who didn’t evolve for thousands of years, like the outside world, to suddenly have to change within several generations. So maybe it’s not completely racism but the challenges of changes into a different society which was constantly evolving, oh yeah that’s right, you know all that. The aboriginal people were not enslaved, yes those in power over the past 200 years made some poor decisions with the aboriginal people, but some aboriginal leaders will tell you that the aboriginal people are doing more harm to their own people in remote areas of australia than other. In the current day. These are the facts you don’t know about nor care because it’s not part of your narrative, is there racism, yes, but it’s not common, it’s rare. Children say the darndest things and most importantly when they repeat things they are generally out of context for which they were inferred. PS when I was young I used to walk through the valley mall in Brisbane where I would be called a white #$&@* etc by aboriginals. Racism is not always one sided.
  13. And the answer to that question was Southgate coming out saying that the kneeling had nothing to do with BLM. They came out because it was obviously identified that people had this opinion, or why make the statement? Ive seen several players come out from various leagues saying they didn’t support it because of its association with BLM, I know one was a Forrest player, but I don’t remember their names. Ive never said the booing was ok. Your comment, You also appear to be saying that because "[the players] ... come out and say it has nothing to do with BLM" this is evidence it is to do with the BLM mvt and attacking the Police and pulling down statues? No not my point at all. The point was made earlier that some football fans believe there is a link, hence why the manager tried to make the distinction. Your comment, I wrote earlier about why I thought some people didn't support them, and not everyone who doesn't support them is a racist, but people who boo them are wilfully, or unwittingly through their actions, displaying ignorance. You maybe right, but they also have genuine concerns and believe they have no other way to get their concerns across. It’s easy to say there’s no link, but this only occurred after a horrendous incident in the US, these people saw this on their news, the next thing is there being told they are racists and the football team they’ve supported for years is peacefully protesting anti racism. Not all see through the rhetoric, not all use the sewer of social media. I agree with your last paragraph, but I also believe the players can be better at bringing all fans along.
  14. I don’t disagree with you, but there are football fans who don’t like it, and it’s simplistic and ignorant to believe these people must be racists for booing. They have genuine issues, if the players initiative should be respected, why isn’t the opinion of those fans not? At the very beginning of this I said I respect the players for their stance and support it, but I also acknowledge the concerns of other supporters. Subsequently some on this forum think we should blindly follow the wishes of others and issues shouldn’t be debated or respected, or if we don’t agree we have no understanding of the issues. My concern came from an individual on this forum make a post made on an individuals comment on Twitter look like a member of the kkk ie racist. Then other members support this post saying you have to look at a word, what? It is disgraceful that this is acceptable and what is the narrative, he didn’t agree with taking the knee, so he is a racist. No he is an individual expressing their opinion, someone doesn’t like it, so he is racist.
  15. Of course you would say that, because your not interested in another point of view.
  16. I’m not sure what point your post is getting to, but I do like many have concerns regarding the narrative when the statistics don’t back up this world wide concern. By the way being Australian can you explain to me the epidemic of racism in Australia?
  17. Well that’s the difference isn’t it. If your serious about a cause you try to bring everyone along.
  18. That’s your assumption, the average person sees the words, and this is the point and why some supporters are cautious with the gesstures association.
  19. Maybe you should look at the original question? But then you would have to be a serious person.
  20. It’s funny how you talk about original organisers rather than focussing on what they are now. Also not a surprise that you piece meal comments from another post asking a specific question and not related to what our thread was discussing. The point is the average person who has concerns with bending the knee is the concerns with BLM. This is the challenge, getting those people to understand what the players are trying to achieve, not trying to be smart and not calling people racists because they don’t accept the narrative. Some people just don’t want politics in their sport. You keep trying to be smart by making assumptions based on what you believe BLM are, your condescending tone beliving that the rest of us haven’t done their research because we don’t agree with you, well… We have just come to a different conclusion than you. I doubt you have any idea what an actual racist is, but quick to call someone one because they don’t agree with you.
  21. Ok champ, thanks for confirming my opinion, debate bad, shut up or I'll cancel you.
  22. The players started during project restart, they had black lives matter emblazoned on the back of there jerseys. You have black players from different clubs who have said they won't take the knee because of its association with BLM. You have the manager of England come and say it has nothing to do with BLM, why? Because the communications people at the FA have seen the data saying fans don't like it because of its association with BLM. At what point do you stop treating all other fans like they are stupid? I accept that the players are genuine when they take the knee, but they could also have chosen any other gesture or changed the gesture and all fans would support and applaud it.
  23. Again, isn't that what your doing? Your not interested in the reasons why some don't like taking the knee, even though everything they see is associated with an organisation that is anti-white in its agenda, but that is ok? Hypocrisy.
