  1. ARGUABLY? The day those mustard guzzlers from Norfolk are a bigger club than Villa will be when pigs fly! Lambert looked at the potential at Villa, the stadium, the training facilities, and the sheer class of the club and thought that will do for me. Just like when Taylor left a good Watford side to come to us. The potential at Villa is frightening. If only someone could ever achieve it. For a promising British manager, getting the Villa job is still one of the best managerial jobs around.
  2. Although I am greatly enjoying this Moyes Meltdown in the media, I think its a little too early to write them off. Its the same side that won the title by over 10 points last season. On MOTD they gave the odds as 7-1 for them to win it, which is seems very long. The problem yesterday is that Moyes played Buttner who is total shit, and Vidic was injured, who I still think is the best defender in the league. If the united fans really don't like it they can always support fc united. Or just carry on paying the Glazier's debt til they sell the club to a bored arab sugar daddy.
  3. Is it me or the lower the crowd, the better the atmosphere at Villa Park? Only 34,000 in but made a great noise on the telly. Even Motty was impressed, bless him. Newcastle was dead, and there was over 3,000 more in that game. Got the luck yesterday but we deserved a big win at home. Bring on Hull.
  4. So Kozak is definitely ahead of Helenius in the pecking order then? I guess as we paid 7 mil from him he is.
  5. That is also why he always gets injured though. Need to engage brain sometimes along with his braveheart defending.
  6. Great win today but I wish people in the media stop saying this is a 'famous victory', makes us look small time. If city win the European cup then they can get back to us. In the meantime they can royally fudge off.
  7. Brillant result today- wished I went now! Sounded like it was a backs to the wall job but that gives a even better buzz when your side hangs on! Christian who?! Its great extra 3 points that no one really expected. Lambert really praised the Holte End today. He may not always gets it right, but he understands this club more than some of those at the hot seat in the past. I am looking at you O'Leary, McNeill, Houllier etc. He also got annoyed with Pat Murphy which is another bonus. I cant believe Yewunited lost to the boggies today lol. Looking forward to MOTD tonight. Well the Villa highlights that is, not the terrible punditry and gurning offered by Lineker and co.
  8. Hopefully they have done this in training and it wont be the case of where am I on the pitch and who is this bloke?
  9. I think this line up is probably the best and strongest team we have at the moment. Which in fairness is not saying a lot..... Fingers crossed for a half decent performance for all of you who are going up today.
  10. Steer will not play for the first team til the FA cup 3rd round in January, unless Brad gets injured/sent off. How good is it for players development when they will only probably play 5-10 games max a season?
  11. He has been great for us, but I am getting increasingly annoyed that all media basically can only identify 1 player with Villa, which is Benteke, and do not talk about anyone else. Its just lazy journalism. Gabby has been great for us since the turn of the year as well and barely gets a mention. Its like 'martin o'neils aston villa' all over again. Unless we look like we are going down or pushing for Europe, Villa does not exist in the hacks simple minds. Don't get me wrong he has been brilliant for us but the next month we have to prove to all that we are more than just one really good player.
  12. I still think a lot of the Villa fans don't treat City as a big game. We still seem to get bigger crowds for Spurs and Liverpool games. I doubt Westwood will play as he is still injured? I would be very surprised if we get a draw out of this one. I just think it will be a routine win for them.
  13. City have not looked amazing away from home. But I am sure we will help to make them feel at home. 0-3.Not a terrible performance but will get rolled over. Hull will be a big game.
  14. Though I was not there tonight I don't think people are overreacting. I am always annoyed when Villa get knocked out of the cups, as it a another opportunity for success gone. As each year passes when will we see Villa ever win something? Could be decades. I thought we had a chance as it was spuds 3rd game in 6 days and clearly not a priority to them. To get rolled over so limply yet again is poor. Still I suppose we should get used to it. Donny Rovers, Leceister city, QPR, and the Bradford shambles to name but a few. Deep sigh.
  15. I said there would be less than 25,000 in, and I was right. Should been lower ticket prices, but I guess the result would have been the same. Its pros and cons. The pros is that I am so glad I am on holiday in spain getting my tan in and saving my money for yet another witless home performance. The cons is that we have no cup games til January and shows the yawning gap between us and spuds regarding spending power, future success, and squad depth. Even though we have a bigger stadium than them and are the biggest club in our area, unlike them. Man City could be fun, making Hull another pressure game. FA Cup 3rd round is a long time to wait for more cup action. But it will be our year for the cup.......
  16. It's only a fiver more than the last round, and that was against Rotherham. £20 is fair. The Holte End was £12 at Rotherham. Even with my C grade in GCSE maths and the lateness of the hour I make that a £8 difference. Not that I am spiltting hairs or anything.
  17. I think he needs a brain transplant with a sane person before he ever applies for a football managers job in the future. Mad as a box of frogs. To say to he was a short term solution at blunderland is a bit like saying a nuclear attack is the short term solution for war.
  18. He did keep them up last season so ultimately fulfilled his short-term purpose. Probably the right decision sacking him this early though. Clearly too much of a risk keeping him now his initial impact has worn off (thanks to us). Yeah but you could say McClueless fufilled his short-term purpose of keeping Villa up. At least we had the decency of showing him the door, and not giving him the thick end of 20 million to spunk on 14 players.
  19. If Di Matteo takes it, he will be following in the steps of the late, great Tony Barton. Former european cup manager dropping down his demands and taking over a unglamorous side in the east of england. Not that I am saying Northampton and Sunderland are similar but....
  20. After watching Cueller when we beat them 6-1, I'd rather not. He was awful. One of those Villa players who got far more support than his peformances deservesd because he has a catchy chant, and under O'Neill having a Spanish player was considered rather exotic.
  21. Whats O'Leary up to nowadays? They like their Irish manager up there dont they?!
  22. I have got it as this calender year away from home in the league( so the Millwall and Bradford nightmares are excluded) has played 12, won 5, drawn 4 and lost 3. And those defeats were at Arsenal with a late goal, a defeat V United for the title and the narrow loss at Chelsea. We also threw away wins at Everton, West Brom, and Swansea.Thats 19 points from 12 which is pretty decent I would say. Just sort out the home form please Paul and we might have a decent season.
  23. What a great start to his Villa career. Looks promising and I think he wil play a big part this season.
  24. I gave Di Canio til November. I might have to revise this. He will do well to last the month.Hilarious. Why anyone at the club thought that this would not end in tears is beyond me. He couldn't hack it at the footballing powerhouse that is Swindon, why did they think he will last at a big club like Sunderland?
