  1. What i think we need: Getting our defence sorted out, a settled back four. One nasty central midfielder, we need one bad ass ball winner, as a team we are to nice, every great team in history has/have had a player or two with a mean streak to them, Barcelona has Busquets, Piquet... Real Madrid has Pepe, Marcelo, Ramos, Manchester City has De Jong... you get my point, we need a bruiser or two. We need another striker and the striker we get in decides more or less what or either we need another one in. We need either one big striker/target man like Carrol if that is the case we also need someone with flair who can get pass his opponent and get crosses in the box. Or more unlikely we need a striker in the Keane mold, a creative player who not only is able to finish attacks himself but also able to provide/create chances for others... After this is sorted we need to think about getting Ireland back at his best or an other creative attacking midfielder. Great players are available, we just need to find the gems, watched the WBA-LFC game yesterday (it was broadcasted here in Norway) and Wba seems to have made an excelent buy in Claudio Yacob did play amazing and if you should have picked a world star between him and Gerrard my pick would be Yacob... If he continues playing like he did against Lfc, Yacob will soon be at a bigger club, maybe as early as January...
  2. I think its difficult to bring in strikers especially because if you buy a proven PL quality like Defoe you must be prepared to pay more not only the cost of buying but also the wages, that also applies in top strikers from top leagues... If you want to save money, you might do a steal like Cisse or you might as well buy someone who just doesnt fit in either with the team or with the English lifestyle so either way it is a gamble... You might say that a proven player gives you a more known "worst" level performance...
  3. In a heartbeat by John Murphy, theme song from the movie 28 weeks later... Coming to Villa park should make you feel like you are being attacked by zombies
  4. So Defoe plays for England, not bad for someone being held up in a hotelroom for some years now witing for a chance to sit on that extra chair...
  5. I like this appointment, already has a name in the footballing world, already has big connections and so on
  6. Skjelbred went to Hamburg if I'm not mistaking? He was a little giant playing for Rosenborg and rumours said that AC Milan and A Madrid were in for him. Tenacious terrier-type. You are definately not mistaking, Skjelbred is at Hamburg, my mistake and i knew that, just wasn`t thinking On the Makoun vs. Annan debate, you can`t really compare them as they have too different qualities. Makoun is a better all-round player and i would like to see him getting a chance ti prove himself. Annan has a more limited role, but played as an holding, defencive midfielder he is a giant on the pitch, but again he has some limits going forward. Breaking up play, tackling and being a pain in the ass (Muri?) for the opponent, he is actually as good as anyone...
  7. Sums it all up, patience is the word, give PL time to build his team. After reading what he has said and done so far i am willing to give him the time he needs. Our team has a spark again and i am loving it
  8. Well what can i say, its like i said earlier, he dont contribute going forward, but he gives the rest opportunity to do so. And we have been complaining for years that we need som quicker feet in the middle to break up play and thats what he does. By the way i am a Rosenborg fan also and he is by far the greatest foreign player the club has ever had and has clearly been missed since he left. AVFC should give Markus Henriksen a good look also, available for 2 mill. £ ...
  9. Its great news, but remember he still has a long fight in front of him, so keep him in your minds and hearts still
  10. Pre-season its really not about the results, its about the answers the manager get...
  11. He has the international level needed, looks great when he plays for Ghana. He is a defencive midfielder, was amazing at Rosenborg, problem in Schalke for both Annan and Skjelbred who also got bought from Rosenborg is that they changed manager shortly after buying them... Annan is great at breaking up the other teams play, he is fast/quick on his feet, reads the game excelent, good at passing the ball but mostly plays short passes to team mates, he knows his role is to tackle and break up the oppositions play. I think he gets overlooked because of his lack of hight and size, but actually his timing and jumping wins him more headers then you might think. He is really a hidden gem in my opinion and will suit us well. He will not create big chances or score a lot of goals, but he will keep the pressure from our defence and allow other midfielders to go forward... I think he would be perfect for us.
  12. Great news Toughest part is over and done.
  13. Bent and Carrol, not a bad pairing in my book. I guess Carrol has the ability to bring even more out of Bent and gives us options.
  14. Im pleased with the players getting looked at, looks like we are building a team
  15. Congratulations Stan, hang in there, best of luck for rest of the treatment
  16. Looks as Lambart has made his plan and wants new players in as soon as possible, i like his approach very much.
  17. I am optimistic, we havent made any big name signings but i dont think that is what we need right now. We need hard working players willing to to do the work requiered, we need more players (bigger squad) and we must keep away from the big earners. I am going to be patience and give the manager time to build his team. I will be okay with 14 or higher but i want to see some good entertainment and a drive in the team to go for the win...
  18. I agree, i am very pleased with what he has done and what he is saying in the media. Looks like he has made a plan and sticks with it. I am very impressed, gets in players early wich we arent very known for I hope he will get time and patience because i really think he can get us places given some time to do his work Looking forward to the next season now.
  19. Thank you everybody The hardest part of Stans treatment is over in medical terms but now comes the patience part... The positive part is that he will after a while be able to take part in every day life again, easy working out (for his own sake), meeting his team mates and so on and the most important again being able to be a father and husband again Actually i think its worse for the people closest to him, for him it is just his life now, he dont have a choice...
  20. Information about Petrovs treatment from now on... He is now out of hospital and that means he is finished with the intensive chemo treatment and his doctors will know how he has reacted to the chemo, hopefully he has made remission (he propably has) and now he will begin his after treatment. After treatment consist for most part of chemo in pill form and you stay at home for most part, if you dont get infections and stuff. After treatment consist of 13 periods each lasting 12 weeks and in week 1,2 and 3 he will travel to the clinic/hospital and get intravanous chemo, one bag ( i call them that any way, a bag of poison ) week one Vinkristin, two bags week two Vinkristin and Doxorubicin and one bag week three (first day of each week), except period 10, 11, 12 and 13 where Doxurubicin are replaced by Cytosar and is more than one day, treatment is fast and you go home right afterwards, some get sick of it some arent bothered. Along with this the first three weeks you are on pills called Dexamethasone wich are steroids and are the kings of side effects. Week four are Metotrexathe pills, week five, six and seven Puri-nethol pills, week eight is Metotrexathe again, then week nine, ten and eleven it is again Puri-nethol and finally week twelve it is Metotrexathe. It is pretty straight forward unless you get ill and have to pause treatment and so on. I myself got diagnosed with Leukemia in July 09 and are still in treatment. I am soon finished with period eleven and i am 24 weeks away this wednesday from calling myself an Leukemia (all) survivor. Actually iam getting very good at this having leukemia thing, i am more worried about getting back to having a normal life afterwards... By the way i am finishing my treatment on the 19th of December, looking forward to christmas this year
  21. Expectations are high, but lets be patient and give him time to make the team his...
  22. Nothing to complain about at the moment...someone told me today that i needed to find a better team to support and i just said: you wait and watch next season..that someone didnt have a comeback line so i guess we are suddenly to be reckoned with again...so..nothing to complain about for a change.. Whats uuuuuuuuuuuuup?
  23. I am very excited as i believe this will be a busy summer. I like the idea that PL tries to win games (its been a while since we didnt go for the draw), agressive style and the players working their ass off. I must admit i didnt watch many Norwich games last year, but i watched a couple when they played in the championship and i was really impressed in how the whole team defended, even the strikers worked hard to get the ball back and they got some chances on the break. I am actually looking forward to the next season now, anyone who gets a team up from 66th to 12th in a couple of seasons on a limited budget knows what he is doing in my opinion...
  24. AVB, Pacienca, Vogel i want someone young and fresh with ambition and a wish to prove themselves.
