  1. Remember the players we used to complain about....I'd take so many of them back right now...someone should definitely be sending a taxi for Collins.
  2. Because our chairman is absolutely useless, doesn't understand football and hasn't hired anyone to help him learn. I also think Sherwood was as divisive as people suggested, from Veretout's comments I think we can say that Sherwood had favourites or a lack of foreign player connection....either one of those issues makes him a tough choice as manager imo.
  3. I can imagine Lerner was hoping we'd pick up some vital points and then when we came up completely short he had to reassess. I haven't even looked at transfer rumours, seems pointless because we already have a Championship team. I'm looking forward to players being brought from the youth team as the season concludes.
  4. He also tended to play his own bought youth players and not those coming through the youth team.
  5. If he stays for a couple of years I don't think he'll be a failure. Yes he's not a manager for a relegation fight but I do think he's a manager to actually progress our players and build something at our club. We play better football under Garde and we actually look like we might still be in games, plus certain awful players have been moved out of the first team picture. Today is annoying because I wanted to see some different faces but Garde wants the win and I can understand that. It isn't his fault that we've dismantled the Prem players from our squad and he's been left with dross. The Prem is an improved league from even 2 years ago and Garde has to choose from players like Richardson, Westwood, Gabby, Gestede, Clark, Bunn, Bacuna, Sanchez, Nzog, and Senderos, I feel sorry for him, we need 8 new starters because we have no Prem quality. A prime example is how much people like Gil, a true mid table talent.
  6. Good football and bad players is never a fruitful combination. We needed a big Sam type to give us the best chance. Not too disappointed if Garde stays and we rebuild, properly.
  7. 2 minutes of passing play, pulling Norwich out of position and finding space in the middle then out wide and what does that moron do, shoot as soon as he sees goal. He has to be the absolute worst signing we've ever made, so many games, so little contributed.
  8. 451 today. Really liking Garde, seems to really know the game even if we could've done with him 2 years ago and not in the battle for survival. I'm looking forward to seeing what January holds, who he gets rid of etc. Last week 2 up top, smart, needed to see how it might work, today we have ball players and carriers in a packed midfield. Bit too much responsibility on Ayew but the formation will allow an attacking player to come into the middle later on to support the striker. Making best use of our crappy players....excluding Richardson.
  9. Surprised he wasn't involved last game, we played 2 up top and so he would've been a good option to replace Gestede who was pretty poor.
  10. I always thought of him as a talented player but in recent weeks I think we've seen his peak. He'd be a great squad player or one in a team which pushes defences back but he's limited, without the ability to consistently play escape passes. Tis a shame, will be great in the Championship.
  11. The fitter he gets the more he contributes. I'd like to see him popping up on the edge of the box and having some long range shots, he looks a little more composed than Gueye.
  12. Loved the formation changes today, suited us to have men in the box rather than play into it. Brave to swap Sanchez with Gil. Shame Traore didn't really get a run out. plus the team must go the other way to allow him space but all in all a good performance at a horrific time for a draw....really need to start shooting though..just not Gueye.
  13. Absolutely. Too many people thought Amavi would be the answer but as the season has progressed we've seen how important natural wingers and defensive full backs are. I simply don't understand how 5 years down the line we still don't have a starting winger or proper CDM, at least we did buy some full backs.
  14. At 2-0 down against Arsenal he had to come on. They were going to win, we just had to score to make it tense. Came on far too late. Against Newcastle I'd be cautious, the best relegation surviving managers stop goals going in though I take your point that without an attack we can't win anyway! In the next few games I can understand if he doesn't start even if sense dictates that we need to score some goals. Has to come on early if we're losing and especially to play on the pitch with Gestede. He wants to be a hero that much is clear and I think he'll cross to someone tall, he's much less likely to cross to crappy Sinclair and short Ayew though I can see a low hit Valencia type cross being very useful for his all round game.
  15. If he scores 20 for us in the Championship he'll be worth a lot more than £6million. Well yes and no, if we were a crossing team he would fit. He doesn't have to be a wonderful player to be a success and the most successful teams recognise balance is imperative. Also if we weren't struggling and he was scoring I'd expect his footwork to be less tense. I notice one player we released has been a table topper so far this year! Albrighton gives Leicester a lot of balance especially with players like Mahrez and Vardy on the pitch. I never thought much about Gestedes ability on the floor, and that to me was important, but it's obvious he's scoring at least once if you put the ball near his head 5 times a game....but we haven't done that since MON. That's a long long time ago!
  16. Looked to grow into the game against Arsenal and now clearly fitter he's getting around the park well. Not sure about his overall quality but I'd prefer him having a shot than Gueye. Spotted some good runs and made good passes, though nobody ever makes any runs!!! It's a problem we have up front, if nobody makes runs then the midfield doesn't spot them. The more runs made in front the more balls this guy will play, it's the worst season for him to join us but if we're going to get anything from him we have to improve that movement. I prefer him to Westwood.
  17. Desire, hmmm, well I don't think a desire to play is in question but the desire to push past low confidence....I don't think we have many of those sorts of players. The only ones I watch and think, yes, ultimate pro who gives it all both by trying hard and taking responsibility are - Guzan, he;s just not as good as we'd hoped he'd be. Hutton Gueye Richards Lescott Ayew Honourable mentions - Bacuna, does work hard he just doesn't play in a comfortable position Gil, moves around and tries to get into moves/make space for others. Realises he's too lightweight but still always wants the ball in tight spots. Clark, tries hard but hasn't improved in certain aspects which are tactical and not physical. Veretout - Looks like he wants the ball, wants someone to make a run and is willing to make space. Fitter and better than he was. Clearly working at it. Not up to it - Grealish - Might be a Villa fan but off the field he's not giving 100% and on the field he prefers to have the ball than make space for others. Gabby - Might run a lot but he doesn't do the simple things and that's criminal laziness Sinclair - Might be fast but lazy as they come going forward and stops far too often instead of powering on and testing a defender. Might be helpful in defence but he's a forward! Westwood - Doesn't believe in himself enough and so looks inhibited. I like him as a player but it's been a tough few years for him and it shows in his determination. Richardson - Might look likes he's trying but constantly out of position in defence because he's too lazy to think about positioning or getting back. Sanchez - If you're not going to be fit (mentally and physically) then don't play. Doesn't concentrate for 90 mins and constantly under hits passes, laziness not ability. N'zog - Mentally weak, physically underwhelming. Awful attitude. The others I don't think I can judge having not seen enough of their body language and match day attitude.
  18. He might have got us 6 points instead if any of our attacking players could score from crosses....he wasn't great today but against Walcott he was always going to be tested, especially without a midfield closing down properly.
  19. Not by himself. But with a partner I think he could be quite useful. Out wide he's useful for us but there's not enough going on to the side of him and so play slows down as soon as he gets forward. He needs support if he's going to play as a wider forward as that would allow him to cut inside or make his way into the box. Very rarely does anyone get alongside him or play a one two to play him in. Showed some decent quality today, great to see a Villa forward who can actually dribble.
  20. Why on earth did he come off just as we started to put crosses in! Definitely isn't good enough but then the rest of our team isn't either. He needs better players around him and crosses so he can use his only real attribute. At least when we go down he should bang in some important goals....shrewd move from the club.
  21. Not ready yet but he won't get any more ready by playing 10 minutes (less today) as a game changer. He needs time to improve his decision making and realise he can pass instead of just running, only game time will give him that. He's poor defensively but he's also guaranteed to be double marked, or marked very tightly, that leaves you space elsewhere.
  22. If I were Garde I'd be seriously considering this. It's problematic because you then have nobody who will come forward to link midfield and attack (not that we do it well anyway) but I'd ask him to stay back and protect the defence until January where I'd be looking for bring in a proper CDM. Sanchez despite mini moments of quality isn't good enough to be a lone CDM in the premiership.
  23. Depends what you class as mobility, at least Kozak understands to shift his body in order to win the ball. Gestede expects his strength and height will win him the ball. Like Gabby thinking a ball to feet is the best option. Maybe in the Championship, but probably not even there! He also moves to create space and backs up to get involved, he's slow and he lumbers but in a match situation he does offer something different to Gestede. Maybe he' be turd, but it's been a long time since he played so under current circumstances it's madness that he hasn't had a shot.
  24. Finally looking like he's approaching Premiership fitness, not there yet. Passing needs tidying up, crossing too but all round he's improved and he looks okay. Might help him to show his talent in the Championship.
  25. You're right, we are terrible in midfield and very light. He needs to be replaced, not because he's a bad player but because he's not a good enough a player for that position. Loves to try a pass, we don't need that in CDM.
