  1. Cynic Deserved to lose, but at least Floyd didn't have it all his own way.
  2. Brilliant anomaly, funny stuff My brother called me up and said, 'the draw is out' and I said 'we got United didn't we.' Must be because we are not playing them in Christmas. God damn Man U and their draw fixing tactics
  3. Everyone is talking about O'Neil in the media..... Hmmmmm......I don't like it......not one bit.... Job share???? We might be looking for a new manager and I couldn't criticise Marty for going, its too big a job. I wouldn't mind Jol coming our way if the worst/best case scenario happens! (best for England) At least Jol knows a good player and a good English player when he sees one.
  4. There are only really 5 managers who fill the criteria on that list due to time restrictions. Terry Venables - rubbish, not gonna happen Lippi or Capello - possibly Big Sam - could be tempted to get out of his Newcastle insecurity. Hilarious Harry - could be good, could be bad.....unsure I think most other managers on this list are too tied up, with the FA unwilling to let a manager share club and country. If England fans want to win something Fergie is the only man to do it.
  5. Jeszcze Polska nie zginela, Kiedy my zyjemy. Co nam obca przemoc wziela, Szabla odbierzemy. CHORUS Marsz, marsz, Dabrowski, Z ziemi wloskiej do Polski, Za twoim przewodem Zlaczym sie z narodem. Since there are no home nations left you better support the population majority. Here is the Polish national anthem! Enjoy!!!!
  6. Coke can go the way of McDonalds, large financial losses and stock panic. I have to say I wish more people stopped their coke habits (and the diet/full coke debate is stupid) companies need to act within the law and not feel above it. Too many resources are being lost to our luxury lifestyles and water is clearly one of them. Coke may put money back, but it is nothing to them, and the absolute minimum they could put in and defend their position. Besides that it is massively unhealthy and far too powerful. People are scared to challenge them and maybe the system for large multi nationals need to change completely. Until someone says, hey, you are making enough money and are taking enough out we will never see the real benefits. Coke is too big, and out addiction is too. Its not fair to start a smear campaign or to criticise just coke for their health irresponsibility, but it is fair to say 'unlucky, your taxes are going up and so is the money you are putting back into the communities you affect'.
  7. Souness for sure! BOOOOOM!!!! BOOOOOM!!!! (the sound of Small Heath imploding then exploding)
  8. match 5 was rash haha, I just chose a low number! Ill judge on performance I think!
  9. 'I still believe in MON but am desperately worried that we could find ourselves in mid-october with 11 fit players and only kids on the bench' I think this is a valid point, completely, and in order to progress you need people asking the hard question (constructively) I think Marty knows his targets and we at Villa are usually pretty quiet on the transfer front and don't go in for speculation, if we can get deals done, and players in that are happy at being out of the bidding war spotlights then I think it is good for the club. We know we need defenders, and I believe we are working on that, it would have been the best possible start to have the full team and maybe full squad by the first fixture (especially as it is the mighty 'Pool) but things take time, and ill give until match 5 and transfer window closed till I make any judgements. The season can change on one result and it is definitely a marathon for us. Top 6 need clubs need cohesion, top 4 clubs have a completely different mentality, and we are not one of those just yet and need to keep some realism. (i think we could have competed a bit more for Gordon....if O'neil really wanted him that much) Patience is the key, we waited long enough to a manager like O'neil in, and we celebrated accordingly, lets keep our traditions alive and give the guy the chance he deserves and time he is owed to put us right.
  10. Who in lords name is the soothsayer amongst out ranks???! I had to have a double check to see that people might actually not believe! and people dont! I have no idea what so many people are moaning about, seriously... We have played some of the most attractive, dominant football we have ever seen from The Villa in years, that coupled with a great attitude even when losing. Yes we can bemoan missing out on Gordon, and possibly Davies but we have signed some good players and strengthened our quality. Financial constraints, funds, targets, agents are always shifting, and while we need to pounce at times we also need to keep a calm head. Marty in my eyes is doing a brilliant job, and setting up a great base and I am not sure his toughest task starts this season, or even the next. We are not a London club, and our fans should stop acting like London fans, we should continue to keep the faith in a manager who has not even been enough time to be judged. I am glad for the negativity though, the more fans we attract, bad and good, the more attention we bring, and hopefully the more bums we put on the seats, even if people come just to see how "badly" Marty is getting it. Barry and Reo and Young and Moore and Gabby and Davies...??? for England!
  11. The five year plan is achievable in its very sense but also may give us a clue into the managers ambitions. We have learnt that in England, that without a huge amount a cash and a magical manager the Champions League is a distant concept. More readily we have learnt that given the chance to work a team and letting a manager progress in their own managerial manner is the best way to achieve progress. Yes you need a good manager, but clubs with many managerial casualties very rarely feature in the top echelon of the Premiership. Everton and Bolton are examples of board success, and a five year plan seems to say make the Champions League in 5years and any contract you want is yours. It is brilliant that we have a potentially long future under a manager who must feel assured by the backing behind him. 5 years of O'neil and scheming, quite exciting! Spend wisely and in the right places! Better start saving though if I am having a season ticket for 5years minimum.
  12. With the current influx of migrants it might be possible to increase a fan base by looking into expanding support. I know a few migrants who see the Villa, and a few more that look into setting up trips for non local football fans (not necc. Villa fans...you see my point???). Maybe it is something to look into, especially with the possibilities available in increasing international reputation, and fan base/links. Obviously there is much happening at Villa Park, and priorities need to be in order but maybe this is a way to increase and reach capacity? General...over to you! And the rest of you opinionated sirs
  13. DOes anyone else think that Lucas Neil is a bargain? I am completely shocked at the lack of interest in him being as he is a player with a good pass and brilliant determination? Plus i am pretty sure that boy can tackle! I am shocked to be honest we are not after him! Anyone else agree or think he is over-rated?
  14. I think it would be foolish not to consider such a move. The area needs investment, and exposure is one way of securing that. Not to exclude the fact that investment into Villa itself means a 'knock on effect' for the rest of the area. I went to school in Aston and it has always been clear that AVFC was integral to the area. While it may cause problems to our rail network, its about time they invested a little, and who knows, having an important land mark so easily accessible both visually for tourists and physically for commuters, might link other areas to the rail network in the future. While some may say there is a Villa monopoly going on or things are moving too quickly, our council members should embrace such a massive investment potential, and the willing parties with the capital to work with. With attendances up, and motivation high, i think we should enthuse AVFC to invest everywhere, and work with them to suit the local needs. Then, let them buy they players! They seem to be showing enough ambition! Ill offer any help I can.
